| LINN, JOHN E.: John E. Linn, eldest son of Uriah E. Linn and Martha Linn, was born in Seneca County, Ohio, November 22nd, 1858, and died March 6, 1924, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 13 days. When a young child he moved with his parents to Branch County, Michigan, where he lived the greater part of his life, following the occupation of farming. November 28th, 1888, he was married to Miss Lillie Thunder, who died May 26th, 1893, leaving one son, Earl Linn, of Coldwater, Michigan. February 17th, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Zull, who survives him. Besides the widow and son, he also leaves one grandchild, Maxine Linn, four sisters and one brother. He united with the Baptist Church in Kinderhook at the age of seventeen years. Mr. Linn was a man of sterling integrity and will be remembered as a kind friend and neighbor to all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. |
| LUSE, MAUD FARRIS-LUSE: Recognized last year by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest living person, has died. She was 115. She died ... Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater. Farris-Luse was taken to the hospital because her vital signs had been slipping and she may have been running a slight fever, he said. She was born on Jan. 21, 1887, in Morley, about 40 miles north of Grand Rapids. When she died, she was 115 years and 56 days old. She celebrated her most recent birthday with family members at the nursing home. At the time, relatives said she could no longer speak, hear or understand what was happening around her, though she seemed to enjoy having visitors. She had lived in Coldwater, a southern Michigan city about 100 miles southwest of Detroit, since 1923. Before that, she and her first husband, Jason Farris, a farmer and laborer, lived in Angola, Ind. They were married in Angola when she was 16 and he was 24. Farris died at age 72 in 1951, when his wife was 64. She later married a man named Walter Luse, who died three years into their marriage, when she was still in her 60s. Farris-Luse has outlived all but one of her seven children and has dozens of descendants. |
| LYTLE, HARRIET: (Colwater Daily Reporter, Apr. 11, 1931) Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Lytle who died at her home in Dorrance after a short illness, Thursday, will occur Sunday at one o'clock fast time at her home. Mrs. Lytle was the wife of the late J.W. Lytle and was 74 years old. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. F.W. Day of Sturgis, Mich., and Mrs. Earl Lint of Algansee township and seven sons, Clarence, Clyde, John, clifford, Miles, Glen, and Loren. In her early years she re--- with her parents in Matteson township, where she was married.
