Josiah Harden was born about 1740, probably in Massachusetts. He was married on 30 September 1767 in Georgetown, Sagadahoc, Maine, to Elizabeth Eaton, daughter of Theophilus Eaton and Abigail Fellows. Elizabeth was a sister to Reverend Ebenezer Eaton. She was born 20 July 1749 in Kingston, Rockingham, New Hampshire.
