In the passing of Mrs. Baker, Caratunk loses one of its most esteemed residents. Following a long period of ill health she died on November 5th. She was born in Concord, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rowe. In her early girlhood, whe was a successful teacher and was well versed in music. After her marriage with George Baker her life was happily spent in her home which was her shrine. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She was the founder of our Woman's club, and an honorary member. For several years she was organist at the church.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker were blessed with two daughters, Mrs. Helen Baker Bean and Mrs. Mary Baker Spaulding.

She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband who tenderly cared for her, the daughters mentioned, a sister, Mrs. Vesta Rowe Clark, six grandchildren, a nephew, Joseph Clark, a niece, Mrs. Marion Clark Smith, both of Portland.

Funeral services were held at the home with Rev. Mr. Sowder of Solon officiating. Flowers were numerous and beautiful, silent tributes of the love for the dear departed. Burial was in the family lot in town.
