Small, Susan Foster b: 1818 - d: Mar 20, 1865 - w/o Michael - d/o ?? (She may have come from Castine.)

Notations from Dr. B. Lake Noyes archives:

“By referring to the history of Michael Small and the burial of his wife, Susan Foster, it will be learned that by the side of the lonely grave of Susan and near the lower Sunset school house, a few yards westerly and on the south side of the road leading to the Charles Annis place, Catherine Durwin-Dunham was buried.  I, (B.L.N.), well remember when the stone stood up, later to be tumbled down and broken and now (1931), I believe it is not to be seen without a search, and possibly the body (of Susan) “may” have been moved over into the Small lot, above.”

Further notes by  Montelle L. Small:

“Noyes sketched Susan’s stone and foot marker, Aug, 1901.  He states that there are two more graves, one being Catherine Durwin-Dunham, and the other being an older lady who lived with Catherine.  The Job Small lot, up the road by the stone wall also has several more unidentified graves.  “Squire” Michael & Deborah had 12 children:  two died in infancy, and two died before age 4, so it’s likely they are in this cemetery.”
