The early vital records of Greene show that there were two Cole families in Greene:

Looking for Solomon Cole, b. 27 Aug 1801

Researcher Kevin Washburn has been stuck on this ancestor, who he believes came from Greene.  Most records indicate his birth as being in Greene.  By 1820, he was living in Parkman, Maine, where he later reared his family.  A look at census records and it appears that there were only two Cole's that lived in this area in 1800 - Benjamin Cole and William Cole.  Perhaps one of these two men was his father?  Below is a brief summary of this family:

SOLOMON COLE was b. 27 Aug 1801 in Greene, Maine and d. 12 Aug 1885 in Abbott, Maine.  He m. ARSENATH HALL SCRIBNER 08 Nov 1824 in Parkman, Maine, daughter of DANIEL SCRIBNER and HANNAH SAMPSON.  She was b. 08 Oct 1808 in Harrison, Maine, and d. 16 Oct 1886 in Abbott, Maine.

  2. MARY ANN COLE, b. 18 Mar 1828 in Parkman, Maine; d. 28 Dec 1913 in Bangor, Maine; m. SEWALL B. LOMBARD, 25 Dec 1847.  He was b. abt 1822 in Guilford, Maine.
  3. MARTHA JANE COLE, b. 23 Mar 1830 in Parkman, Maine; d. 10 Nov 1883 in Abbott, Maine; m. ALBERT R. MERRILL, 06 Nov 1848.
  4. SUSAN E. COLE, b. 17 Apr 1832 in Parkman, Maine; d. 30 Sep 1863; m. JAMES MARTIN, 03 Jul 1855.
  5. SOLOMON SNOW COLE, b. 30 Dec 1833 in Parkman, Maine; d. 15 Aug 1906 in Monson, Maine; m. SARAH JANE MARTIN, 22 Mar 1855.  She was b. 14 Jun 1837 in Hodgdon, Maine; d. 12 Apr 1898 in Monson, Maine.
  6. JEMIMA COLE, b. 01 May 1837 in Parkman, Maine; d. 07 Feb 1910 in Cambridge, Maine; m. CHARLES R. MOORE.  He was b. 04 Mar 1844; d. 14 Feb 1916 in Cambridge, Maine.  She m. 2nd GEORGE C. MARTIN, 03 Jul 1856 in Bangor, Maine.  She m. 3rd DAVID LEIGHTON, 06 Mar 1865 in Abbott, Maine.
  7. WILLIAM HENRY COLE, b. 11 Jul 1840 in Parkman, Maine; d. 07 Jun 1896 in Augusta, Maine; m. EMILY ANN RACE.
  8. WILSON GREENE COLE, b. 26 Oct 1842, Parkman, Maine; d. 19 May 1864 in Spotsylvania, Virginia.
  9. LYDIA EDITH THOMPSON COLE, b. 24 Jan 1845 in Parkman, Maine; d. 12 Mar 1915 in Abbott, Maine; m. GEORGE HIRAM RACE, 25 May 1862 in Parkman, Maine.
