Looking for info on Basilisse MARTIN, married Francois-Xavier BEAULIEU in Van Buren, ME in 1849. Francois-Xavier had a Crown Grant to 80 acres in the Parish of St. Ann's, Madawaska Co., and the plan shows his property abutting that of his father, Marcel BEAULIEU, and surrounded by MARTINs, likely related to Basilisse, whose parents were Basil MARTIN and Archange THIBODEAU, married St. Basile in 1815. MARTINs shown on the plan (dated 1880) include Thomas, Laurent, Xavier, Remi and Isidore. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

GUIMOND/MARCURE/DUMONT
I have done some maternal research and have discovered that my g. grandfather Joseph Batiste GUIMOND (birth date and place of birth are unknown) resided in St. Basil, Madawaska County, N.B. He was married to Sophie Marie MARCURE ( date of birth and place of birth unknown). My grandfather was Joseph Theodule GUIMOND (B: 1878) was born in St. Basil, Madawaska County and died in Pincher Creek, Alberta on Mar 29, 1941. Joseph married Marie Fabiola DUMONT (B:Nov 29, 1888, St. Epifane, Que) who died in Pincher Creek, Alberta on the Jan 01, 1972). They had three daughters my mother, Delia Marie Madeleine (B: Nov 13, 1927), Augustine Therese (Terry) Marie GUIMOND (B: May 02, 1920 in Edmonston, N.B.) and Yolaine (Helen) Marie (B: Aug 10, 1923, St. Jacques, N.B.) I understand that some kind of census material of the 1880's actually lists Joseph and Sophie as Farmers in Madawaska County. Both of my grandparents are now deceased as well as my great grandparents. My mother and aunts recall very little of their parents and grandparents, and are unable to tell me anything in relation to my great grandparents, who their parents were, where they came from etc. parents and no nothing of aunts, uncles, cousins etc. If anyone has information that would be helpful in this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PARADIS/SOUCY
I am looking for information on "Severe" (prob. Xavier) PARADIS, and Leonie (or Lea) SOUCY. "Severe" Paradis m. Leonie SOUCY probably in late 1880's. They had at least one child, Oliver J. Paradis (my grandfather), b. Frenchville, ME, 23 May 1889 (bap. May 28, 1889, St. Luce Ch., Frenchville - Sponsors: Charles Bouchard and Dorothie Paradis). (Severe, Leonie and Oliver moved from Frenchville to Wisconsin in the early 1890's and then settled in Minneapolis.)
Severe (Xavier ?) PARADIS' death certificate lists his d.o.b. as November 10, 1859, and place of birth only as "Quebec" (no parents given). Leonie (SOUCY) PARADIS' death certificate lists her d.o.b. as May 2, 1870, p.o.b. as "New Brunswick", and parents as Oliver J. SOUCY and Arthemise Plourde. (I have notes from a list of marriages which I saw many years ago which indicated that an Oliver Soucy m. an Arthemise Plourde in St. Basile, N.B., on November 24, 1863.)
Would like to get information on places of birth (and/or baptism), parents, other children, siblings, dates/places of marriage, etc., particularly with regard to Severe PARADIS' place of birth and parentage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have been looking for information on Fleurent (Pascal) Cormier born Approx 1849, son of Louis and Eleonore Cyr probably in the St.Basile or Lille, I visited the St John river valley in june of this year, searching for the gravesites of my ancestors. I was unable to locate Fleurent's grave, although I found his father and mother buried at Lille. Fleurent was married to Marguerite Ayotte,11 oct 1868 at VanBuren.I looked at the St. Bruno Church and checked with the Grand Isle town office but no Death record was available.I am trying to unravel a bit of a mystery,as I was told by a now 97 yr old aunt, that Fleurent was murdered at a dance or some other social event. He was also reportedly a schoolteacher. Could you help me find out anything about him? I would like to know where he is buried and the date he died. I have tried all of the online vital stats that I could find with no luck. Thanks for your consideration.

DESHANE/DESCHAMP/DESHON
Seeking marriage, parents and ancestors of Edouard DESHANE/DESCHAMP/DESHON and wife Leonore DAUCONS (DANCOSSE?). Edouard born about 1815 in Quebec province. Leonore born about 1825 to 1827 in Quebec province. In 1871, Edouard DESHANE, Leonore and several children were found in the census living in Madawaska parish. Edouard was a farmer there. Their youngest child, Arcane, was born about 1866 in Quebec, so they moved to Madawaska between 1866 and 1871, it appears. Their oldest child, Temams, was born in Quebec about 1857. I suspect that Edouard, because of his age, and his children's ages, may have been married prior to Leonore.
About 1873, Edouard, Leonore and several children, moved to Winn, Maine. No further records have been found. Thanks!

I was recently told of a book or some type of writing that explains how the BOUCHARD family came to Canada. My uncle has been doing the family genealogy during his spare time for the past few years, and now I am trying to get involved as well. PELLETIER / MARQUIS
Hi! I have quite a dilema to resolve: hope somebody can be of help.
1.Octave PELLETIER married Philomène MARQUIS on September 21, 1870 in St-Hilaire, N.-B., Ca. Unfortunately her parent's names are not shown on the church registry.
2. Some genealogists believe she was the daughter of Pierre MARQUIS and Desanges PELLETIER. William H. Marquis, who compiled the Marquis descendants, identified 7 children for Desanges but not Philomène.
3. However, he identified a Philomène Marquis, daughter of Joseph Marquis and Méthaide Albert. This Philomène married Paul Caron in Upper Frenchville Me in 1862; Antonin Gagnon in Upper Frenchville Me in 1868.
4. Who married Octave Pelletier in 1870 (and died in May of 1876)?

SIROIS/NADEAU(DUPERRE)
I am searching for information on Jean (John) SIROIS born in Canada about 1823-24. He was married to Clementine Nadeau of Canadian birth on Oct. 17, 1853. I have found them in the 1861 St. Leonard, NB census with 5 of their children. I have found their children in the St. Bruno's (Van Buren, ME) birth and baptism records. Under the first few children the mother's name was listed as Clementine NADEAU (DUPERRE) or Clementine DUPERRE (NADEAU). What this means, I do not know. Jean died in Van Buren, Maine, where they were living in July, 1869. Clementine is in the 1870-1910 census for Van Buren. She remarried by the 1880 census to Litus PARENT. I am looking for information regarding who their parents were and where they were originally from.

William Franklin B. KNOX was born November 1829 somewhere between this Province of New Brunswick/Canada/Maine. His father was a John Knox who was born somewhere in Canada. His mother (name unknown) was born either in Canada or in Scotland. His death certificate lists mother as born in Scotland.
William F. B. Knox was a Presbyterian. He died April 1905 in Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin, USA. Buried in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Can you give me any direction with this? I figured he must have been born in an area of Canada whose boundaries changed. Your web page confirmed that for me. Any suggestions appreciated.

OAKES/MCKENZIE/BOUCHARD
Hi. My grandmother is Margurite OAKES., born St Francis, Me/St Francois, Madawaska, N.B., Ca. Her ancestry is murky. The Oakes side I know and have verified all the way back to the 1500's. Her father was Electus Oakes, my ggfather. At various times, in records, her mother was listed as BOUCHARD/MCKENZIE. Her name is Harriet/Hattie, listed as being born in Riviere Du Lup, Ca in 1845.
Anybody got a clue?

BEAULIEU / BOIS
I'm new to genealogy and unfamiliar with New Brunswick. I'm looking for information on my great grandparents FELIX BEAULIEU and ELEANOR BOIS. Eleanor Bois was married to Felix Beaulieu about 1887. She died 1926 in St Basile. I don't have any other information on them. Thanks. Marie
