LITTLETON posted by Covington Scott Littleton on Tuesday, July 28, 1998

I'm interested in tracing the ancestors of my great-great-grandfather, Thomas LITTLETON, d. 1845. He owned a plantation called "Pharsalia" just north of Powellville in Wicomico Co. (in those days, Somerset Co.). His son, Minos Covington LITTLETON (1830- 1860), and grandson, Covington Henry Scott LITTLETON (1860 - 1942; my grandfather) were also born at "Pharsalia". My grandparents moved to Pasadena, CA shortly after the turn of the century (the plantation passed out of the family when my grandfather sold it in 1878), but my roots are in the Eastern Shore, even though I've only been there on one occasion in 1968. In any case, I would very much appreciate an information anyone mught have that could help me in my quest. Many thanks!

DARBY posted by Pat Darby Sanchez on Wednesday, October 14, 1998

DARBY, Wm. or Obadiah (wife Sarah P.) was listed on the 1870 Wicomico Co. federal census in Barren Creek District 1. I need info on this family. Young Wm. could be my grandfather. Old Wm. was listed on the 1850 Somerset Co. census for Barren Creek with a young Obadiah.

HUMPHREYS posted by Mary Kay Foster on Sunday, October 25, 1998

I am trying to find information about Charles and Amelia HUMPHREYS, born about 1811 in Somerset County, Quantico Div. I found them on the 1850 census (which was on-line, thanks to the transcribers! :-) They had 6 children at that time, one of which was my g-grandfather, Horatio Thomas. In the history of Rockawalkin United Methodist Church, I see John and Peggy HUMPHREYS gave some land for the church and Josephus HUMPHREYS was also a trustee. Any information about these HUMPHREYS and any others would be greatly appreciated.

BOUNDS, DASHIELL, DONOHO, JACKSON, KING, LARRAMORE, MURRAY, POWELL, REED, RICHARDSON, STEWART, WARD posted by J. Richard Donoho on Friday, November 20, 1998

I am researching William DONOHO of Wetipquin, Somerset Co., now Wicomico. William was b. ca 1730, d. in 1786, and m. Sophia RICHARDSON, dau. of John and Rachel RICHARDSON. William DONOHO and Sophia RICHARDSON had children Richardson (m. Grace WARD), William, Joshua (m. Sarah MURRAY), Rebecca (m. William POWELL), and James (m. Ann _). He was probably the son of John DONOHO of Worcester Co. (d. 1765) and possibly Rachel JACKSON, dau. of Joshua JACKSON and Sarah (RICHARDSON?) of Wetipquin. Other possibly associated/related individuals: Joseph BOUNDS (d. 1748) and Tabitha REED BOUNDS, James REED, John REED, Rebecca STEWART DASHIELL, James DASHIELL, William DASHIELL, Jr., Ephraim KING, and Thomas LARRAMORE. Any help in sorting this out, or any info on these families at Wetipquin between 1700 and 1800 would be tremendously appreciated. I'll also be glad to share any info I have.
