Caroline County, Maryland Plats
This is a work in progress. More plats will be added as time allows. These plats were photocopied from Maryland State Archives microfilm #CR 46-974, Caroline County Circuit Court (plats), 1774-1920, Nos. 1-479, from land commissions GAF A, JHF E, (land records), C-LBT 82 (tax sale record) and LHG 1, and (Mortgage Records) CHW 7. The text in these records was covered in several places making it practically impossible to read. I'm not sure where copies of these documents can be found, but I found this reference to land records in a Maryland Research Guide: "In the Hall of Records, Annapolis, are land office papers from 1634 on. These records include warrants and patents and are available on microfilm. Also in the Hall of Records are a number of card indexes for these and other land transactions, including lists of names for the various plantations and such tracts of property." Another reference to land records says, "Deeds. These documents are handled by the clerk of the Circuit Court in each county...all early records of deed transactions are supposed to be in the Hall of Records, Annapolis."
