26. THOMAS M. CARLISLE was born about 1818 in Mississippi. He died (?) 5 NOV. 1864 in Sparta, La. in Bienville Parish. He was a Farmer.

According to the above census, Thomas M. and Syntha Pierce Carlisle moved to Louisiana between 1846 & 1849.

Thomas M. Carlile's Succession was filed 10 December 1864 in Bienville Parish, La. Recorded_ Book B_ page 645-46.

Inventory list community property by Thomas M. Carlile, (decd) and his surviving widow, Scytha Pierce.

It appears that Syntha Pierce Carlisle had to swear allegiance to the Confederate States before she could be approved to be the adminestratrix of Thomas M. Carlisle's estate. Showing two copies of said oath. First on the 5th day of November 1864.

State of Louisiana } Appeared Cynthia Carlile who appearing __ Parish of Bienville) being by me duly sworn according to law depose under oath that she has not at any time since the 26th day of January 1861 taken an oath to support the Constitution of the Government of the United States nor in any manner made a declaration of allegiance to the United States nor given any information or support, aid, or comfort, to the United States or the soldiers, officers, or armies, therof nor been engaged either directly or indirectly as an agent for others or on her own account in carrying on any trade or traffic for purpose of gain with the Citizens, soldiers or government of the United States or with any other person _____ _____ the United States has been benefitted thereby during the war waged against the Confederate _aly by the United States and that she in not a Citizen of the United States.

District Parish of Bienville } Whereas Mrs. Cyntha Carlile has been appointed by the District Court in and for said Parish and State aforesaid Administratrix of the Succession of Thomas M. Carlile late of Said Parish and State Deceased. And whereas She has given bond and Security Conditioned according to law and taken the oath required by law. Now therefore the Said Cyntha Carlile is hereby fully commissioned authorized and empowered to discharge and perform all and Singular the duties incumbent upon her by law in her Said Capacity.

Given under my hand and seal of the District Court at Sparta Parish and State aforesaid on this the 10th day on November A.D. 1864.

Greetings, you are commissioned, authorized, and empowered to sell at public auction to the highest and last bidder after legal notice therof all the property both moveable and immoveable found in your said Parish composeing and belonging to the Succession of T. M. Carlile late of Said Parish and State (Decd) The said property to be sold for cash provided it brings its appraised valuation here of fail _wt and due return make to our said Court.

Given under my hand and Seal of the District Court at Sparta Parish and State aforesaid on this the 10th day of December AD 1864.

On the 17th day of January 1865, Mrs. Cinthia Carlile bought 14 head of cattle, she being the last and highest bid at the price of one hundred and fourty two dollars.
