78. John CASTLEBERRY was born between 1730 and 40 in Pennsylvania. He died in 1801/2 in Hancock County, Ga. His will was dated the 21st day of April, 1801, Hancock County, Ga.

John Castleberry was a Revolutionary War Soldier, being on the certified list of Georgia Troops (Rev. Records of the State of Ga., by Knight, p. 378). Georgia Roster of The Rev.; Ga. S.A.R. Records, etc, and others.... Ancestor of Robert Wesley Castleberry, S.A.R. National #69325, and Texas State NO. 787; Ancestor of Miss Maria Watson, whose number in N.S.D.A.R. is #232342. Ga. DAR abstracts of Wills, Hancock Co., Ga. 1949 p.4, Knight's Roster Ga., p. 50. A Certificate dated 16 April 1784, signed by Col. G. Lee, who is presumed to have been John Castleberry's Commanding Officer during the War, entitles him to receive Bounty Land.

79. Mary Anne _____. Conveyance of "a one acre tract" to trustees of the Bethel Meeting House, by Mary Anne Castleberry and James Castleberry.

Know all men by these presents that we, Mary Ann Castleberry and James Castleberry of the County of Hancock and State of Georgia, for and in consideration of the love and affection for the promotion and advancement of the Worship of the True and Living God and for other good causes and consideration we the said Mary Anne Castleberry and James Castleberry herunto moving, have given and granted, and by these presents do give and grant unto Jesse Veazey Barnaby Shivers, Edmund Beard, Joel Patterson, Henry I. A. Hill and Greenberry Pinkston, trustees of the Bethel meeting house, and their successors in office, for the use and benefit of the said meeting house and congregation; A certain tract or parcel of land containing one acre, and lying contiguous to said Bethel meeting house and bounded as follows: Beginning at Black Jack, on Bethel and Castleberry's line, running thence north eight poles to a hickory corner, then West, twenty poles to a Spanish oak, thence South eight poles to a blackjack, thence east along the old line to the beginning. Together with the privileges of a path to and the use of a spring lying eastwardly and occupied by Mary Anne Castleberry. To have, hold and enjoy the land, privileges and appurtenances thereunto annexed to the use of the aforesaid trustees and congregation and their successors forever. And we, the said Mary Anne Castleberry and James Castleberry forever will warrant and defend by these presents the right and title to the said land and privileges unto the said trustees and their successors for the use of said congregation against the claim or demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever either claiming in their own right under us or otherwise. In testiomony whereof we have herenunto set our hands and seals this 25th day of July Eighteen Hundred and Four. (her mark) Mary Ann Castleberry, (his mark) James Castleberry.
