304. John McGinty I; The first proven ancestor is John McGinty I, from County Donegal, Ireland, who married MARY _______?. He came to Augusta County, Virginia between 1738 and 1740. This is proven by his will of 1763, in which he nanes his wife, Mary; sons, Alexander and John; daughters, Margaret, Ann, Sara, and Mary.
Children were:
i. ALEXANDER
MCGINTY.Records show that Alexander remained in Augusta County and he had sons --- James, John and Robert, perhaps others. There are war records of John and James. Some of the family went to Kentucky with Daniel Boone, and later records show that Alexander died in Fayette County, now West Virginia. In 1794 Robert and John came home from Kentucky to bury their father and to settle his estate.
