Ida Marie Allton was born in Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, Illinois, November 26, 1854.  She was the daughter of Walter Scott Allton and Elizabeth Fancher.

She married Homer Vincent on December 27, 1877, in Hancock County, at "Father's Residence", presumably Ida's father.  Marriage License

Homer, born in 1852, was the son of Terry and Christina (Spiker) Vincent, originally from New York and Ohio, respectively.  Terry Vincent was farming in McDonough County, Illinois, in 1850, was listed in LaHarpe Township, Hancock County, in the 1855 Illinois State Census, and was reported as a carpenter in LaHarpe Township in 1860.  He served a short stint in Company A of the 65th Illinois Infantry in 1865.

An outline map of Iowa illustrating the location of Page County.Ida and Homer lived in Fountain Green Township for a few years and began their family there.  In the early 1880s they moved to Page County, Iowa, where Homer initially farmed.

On April 12, 1881, Homer was a witness to the marriage of Walter, his father-in-law, and Sidney Parker.

Ishmael, author of the Fountain Green local news column for The Republican, wrote on August 25, 1890, that among others visiting in the vicinity was "Mrs. Homer Vincint of Page Co., Iowa."

By 1910 they had moved into the town of Shenandoah.

Homer died on May 9, 1921, at Shenandoah.  Ida was still living there as of 1930.  When her brother, Edward, died in April of 1943, she was named as Mrs. Ida Vincent of Tabor, [in Fremont County, immediately west of Page County], Iowa. She died at Tabor at the home of her daughter, Bess, on January 17, 1944.  Both Homer and Ida are buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.

The children of Ida Alton and Homer Vincent were:

i. Robert Vincent, born about December 1878, probably in Fountain Green Township.  He perished at the age of 8 months in July of 1879; the cause of death was cholera infantum.

ii. Merlin Scott Vincent, born April 4, 1881, probably in Fountain Green Township.  He died in Colorado on October 24, 1942.

iii. Ernest Floyd Vincent, born March 9, 1885, in Iowa, probably Page County.  He died in 1921, burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
