John W. Bethell was born in Montclair, N.J. on 13 June 1906. Before entering the army air force John Bethell was an architect.

Stephen H. Meuse, son of Paul F. and Catherine (Matthews) Meuse, was born at Newburyport on 21 May 1893. He married Elizabeth Tyler Pitman. They had a daughter, Evelyn Frances. Stephen Meuse worked as a laborer before entering the army.
