(Death related In letter to father of WILLIAM T PRYOR written by John's second wife Margaret BARTON Halinda had died about 1851. In 1854 JOHN PRYOR had written from Arkansas to his son NATHANIEL WEST PRYOR in Nevada City. Calif., begging him to come home, mentioning the death of, Milton STOKES PRYOR in Stockton. Calif in 1853. and anxious awaiting return of NATHANIEL and brother WILLIAM MONTFORT PRYOR from California. Grandfather of NATHANIEL WEST PRYOR was JOHN HENRY PRYOR, who married Ellisabeth STOKES who-was from Halifax Cy Vs. She was daughter of William STOKES and Sarah WADE who a April 19 1759 Halifax Dy Vs. Nevada City. Calif. a gold strike place) 1854, Santa Cruz. Calif, 1860; Camp Hallock. Missouri (after transfer from 15th Regiment of Missouri to Command of Capt NcKAY Jan 5 1862; Iron County. Utah, 1874 where he married Margaret EVANS an emigrant from Wales. He retummed St with wife and first son JOHN JAMES PRYOR sailing around the Cape Horne and up the Mississippi River to St Louis, served in Civil War, then with wife, son and daughter MARGARET PRYOR returned west in 1870. His wife died 1872. His brother MILTON STOKES PRYOR died serving in Arkansas in the Confederate Army in 1863, (had been in Perry Cy Ark census 1860). Nathaniel was named WEST for the father of Malinda (GURLEY) PRYOR- JOHN WEST GURLEY who a (possibly) Mary' FEREBEE. Malindi was b 1807 on Cain Creek, Oconee Cy SC.

NATHANIEL WEST PRYOR; died of pneumonia at age 83 in Jan 1916, was said to have carried a gun until 1894 (age 61)
