I found a photo of some of my family taken probably during early WII.............The
Ladies on the left are: from left: Mary Rogers and Mayme Rogers, they were
daughters of James Colmore Rogers and Ellen T Bush. James was from Nelson
County, KY and was the son of Hopkins Rogers and Lydia Lovelace, daughter
of Colmore Lovelace, and Grandaughter of Zadock Lovelace. I'm sure the dates
for their birth/death are in the Lovelace Archives but I wanted to make sure this photo was archived and available to others....

Other family members: My Father, William Wilson Irving 1902-1986 in the
rear, my two sisters, Carol b. 1936 and Ruth born 1924, Guess who in the
front in a suit like a "dandy", and my older brother, William LeRoy.
Mother was taking the picture I suppose and an older brother "Hank" was away
flying bombers in the South Pacific so was not there......Mom was Ruth
Rainwater Irving, with roots in Kentucky and Surry Co., NC 1901-1988......Sister Carol is widow of Terry Bishop who passed away earlier this month.

Ruth is really named Mary Ruth, but always went by Ruth, and is wife of Joseph H. Jones living at Ft Meyers, FL......Brother Bill is married to Martha Lyons of Middletown, OH.......

Pictures were not available for two other members of the James Colmore Rogers Family. The eldest was Charlton Morgan Rogers b. ca 1870 died 1941 at Bristol, TN. He had one son,  Julian, who died as a young adult.  Charlton Morgan Rogers was so named after his Fathers' friend Charleton Morgan, brother of General John Hunt Morgan, who was a neighbor in Lexington KY. The youngest child, Wilson Rogers, born 1879 died 1965. Wilson was a  Vaudeville Minstrel Singer-Dancer known as "Jack" Rogers. As a youngster he was called Wils Rogers by family,  but as a professional,  the name Will Rogers was taken. Wilson Rogers started as a Steamboat Minstrel and later played all the known Vaudeville Circuits. During WWII and in his 60's he was a Recreation Specialist for the Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois. A noted Genealogist, Jean Rogers Webb, was his youngest daughter.

This  is Pearl Rogers who married a Charlie Bernard.

Charlie spent 45 years with Ringling Bros Circus as their "Advance Manager" traveling the world arranging for the Circus to come to town......space, posters, hired hands, Police bribes, etc......Pearl, as the wife of an "important" person, was introduced to Madame Sun Yat Sen (spelling) who was wife of first President of the China Republic during their stay in San Francisco prior to the 1906 earthquake....not too shabby for a Lovelace Great Grandaughter from Kentucky.....They lived Savannah, GA many years near the Ringling Circus winter home (before it went to Florida).....Pearl born January 8, 1875 and died at my Mothers in 1968.....

Pearl was spry and active until the day she dies at 93 yrs.... (photo on left taken at age 92)

Walter "Deweese" Rogers, brother to Pearl, Mary, Mayme, Lillian, and a son of James Colmore Rogers. Dewese was a US Army Vet serving in the Hospital Corp from Dec 1903 to August 1904. He lost a leg in the service.
