Upper Kathlea is a grade II listed building

Map of Upper Kathlea Farm in 1843

Many references are simply to Gelli/Kellye/Kathlea/Celliau etc, without specifying whether Upper or Lower. Prichard families lived in both well into the 18th century and it seems most likely that they were two branches of the same family. Lower Kathlea is the older of the two, built 1500-1550 (though there may, of course, have been an earlier dwelling), and seems originally to have consisted of two attached, self-contained houses. Upper Kathlea was built about a century later, but it isn't clear whether it was intended as a grander house or simply as a dwelling for a junior member of the family.

1611 Bradney Marriage settlement drawn up between James Prichard, the son of Richard John ap Ievan and Catherine, neice of Sir Roger Bodenham.

1660 Memorials Jane Prichard (nee Powell), wife of John Prichard of Kellye, died aged 66.

1697/1711 Miscellanea William Prichard of Kellye/Kellie.

1711 Bradney Elizabeth, only daughter and heir of William Prichard, married James Watts, after which the family no longer lived here.
