1843 Parish tithe survey: James Jones was owner and occupier of the Carpenters Arms. 1847 James Davies In a letter to his sister dated September 9th 1847, James Davies wrote: "The public-house has been rebuilt, and my brother Edward's grandson owns it, and lives in it: and, by some means, he has a considerable property. He is single, and rents what James Price used to rent. He keeps seven cows, and has bought several places in Llangattock: he is Nelly's son, and his name is James Jones". |
