In September of 1997, thirteen interested persons met to form the Winn Parish Genealogical & Historical Association. Our membership grew to over 200 members in only one year!
We are very excited about our society and dedicated to its success.
We started publishing a genealogical quarterly in April, 1997. We have published a book on obituaries for the parish and also have plans to publish some other much needed genealogical material on Winn Parish We also provide other member benefits, such as research trips to out-of-town libraries, networking at local meetings, etc..
We meet at the public library the second Saturday of every month.
We cordially invite all Winn Parish researchers to join us!
The general business meeting starts at 1 p.m.
(If you miss this, youve missed all the fun!)
The program starts at 2 p.m.
Networking and sharing transpires before, between, and after every meeting.
Dues for 1998 are $15-individual or $20-family or $20 for institutions and libraries

Appropriate postings include notices and reminders of meetings, local and state events of a genealogical or historical nature, abstracts of meetings, and queries regarding ongoing research efforts. At the present time, submissions to the archives are also being sent to the list so members will have the chance to see them first. The list is also open to non-members who have an interest in Winn Parish; non-members will be "encouraged to join the Association and should realize that very little of the material published by the organization will make it to the archives. This includes queries and articles from the quarterlies, books, etc. {NOTE: Because of "spam" that currently is being sent though the lists, most mailing list have been "closed", which means you have to be subscribed to post. Hopefully the spam blockers keep working as well as they have been designed to do!}
The mailing address for postings is LAWINN-L@rootsweb.com.
To subscribe, you must request the service by sending the word "subscribe" (without the quotes) as the only text in the body of a message to LAWINN-L-request@rootsweb.com (mail mode) or if you receive a "LOT" of post, subscribe to LAWINN-D-request@rootsweb.com (as the digest mode will combine several post--depending on the size--and send 1 or more "digest" a day.).
[Use the word "unsubscribe" to stop receiving the post.]
For additional help, contact Annette Womack, listmanger and explain the problem.
