MISSION:
The German-Acadian Coast Historical And Genealogical Society, organized in July 1979, was incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Louisiana on May 14,1981.

One of the main goals of the Society is to preserve, compile and publish records of a genealogical or historical nature, with emphasis given to the records of St. James, St. Charles and St. John The Baptist Parishes.
MEMBERSHIP:

Applications for membership should be addressed to "The Membership Committee" German-Acadian Coast Historical and Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 517, Destrehan, LA 70047.  The membership begins in July and extends through June of the following year.  Annual dues, including a subscription to "Les Voyageurs" (the Society's Quarterly Publication), are payable as of July 1st of the new membership year.  An individual membership is $15.00. Family memberships are $17.50 and library rates are $10.00.

MEETINGS:

Regular meetings of the Society are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the meeting room of the St. John The Baptist Library, 1334 W. Airline Hwy, LaPlace, LA  70068.  Any change in meeting date or place is listed in the Schedule of Meetings and Special Events included in each issue of "Les Voyageurs".  There is no meeting in the month of December.
LES VOYAGEURS:

"Les Voyageurs", a copyrighted publication of the Society, is published in March, June, September and December of each year.  Material for inclusion in a particular issue must be received by the Editor before the 5th of the month prior to the month of publication.

"Les Voyageurs" was first published in march 1980, and back issues are still available.    Inquiries about back issues should be directed to the Circulation Chairman.

ARTICLES:

Members as well as non-members of the Society are invited to submit articles for inclusion in "Les Voyageurs".  Preference is given to original material pertaining to the history and families of St. Charles, St. James and St. John The Baptist Parishes.

Sources of information used in the articles should be listed, and any copyrighted material must be accompanied by written permission to use the information. Articles are subject to editing as necessary.  Neither the Editor nor the Society assumes responsibility for the originality or accuracy of material submitted.
