I am trying to trace my ancestry. My father's name is Vernie C. BURTON, and my mother is Sarah L. GIDDINGS. Both are from the Coushatta area. My father's mother was Clausie MURPHY. My mother's parents were Ed GIDDINGS and Marie PICKETT. Any help as to where I might look would be appreciated....

 


Aug. 4,'97 / Cal Crowell----Coushatta, LA

I'm looking for info. on my g-grandmother, Willie T. [SHARP] MCCORD. She was 19 years old in 1870. She died in about 1873. Need to know where in Red River Parish that she, and husband Andrew J. MCCORD are buried. Willie and Andrew had 2 children- Millie and Carrie MCCORD. After Andrew died in about 1878, the children went to live with the James J. STANFILL family. Please help if you can. Looking for any information on John Tedder SMITH, who was married to a Lou Anna ADKINS in the late 1800's. They had a son, John T. SMITH Jr., in 1901. Lou Anna is buried in Martin, LA [Red River Parish]. John Tedder SMITH is buried in San Saba, TX. Their son, John Jr., lived most of his life in Coushatta, and is buried there. Any information you can give me would be much appreciated...

 


Aug. 12,'97 / Carol Hurley----Wayland, MA

Martha SHARP, born 2/7/1840 in VA, or NC. She married married Dr. O.P. GAHAGAN around 1857; they had 6 children. Widowed in 1877, she remarried on 3/3/1886; to Edwin V. SHARP, in Red River Parish, LA. He was born in 1846, and died in 1925 in VA. Martha may have had a sister named Jennie/Jenna. I'm trying to locate her parents, who were born possibly in VA., or NC. Edwin SHARP may have had a brother named Robert, from MS.; according to his will. Please contact me, with any information on these families...

I am researching the NORRID surname. Any information on Samuel H. NORRID who md. Tabitha LEAMONS on 13 Feb. 1833 will be appreciated. Their children were as follows:
John Andrew NORRID md. Frances Elizabeth McDonald--both are buried in Comanche, Texas. Jemima Jane NORRID had a daughter named Wincy. William S. NORRID died at Lynchburg in 1863. Demarious A. NORRID w ho md. Richard McVALE had son named Sam & daughter named Ollie. Richard Copeland NORRID who died in 1854. Joshua NORRID who md. Susannah H. ELLIOTT. Martha E. NORRID (Matt) who md. (1) George CUMMINGS and (2) John PAGE. Abraham NORRID who md. Alice E. ELLIOTT, (2) Lizzie BUSH and (3) ??? He is buried in Shelby Co., Texas I would love to hear from any descendants and will be glad to share all information I have...
