By providing this list, we hope to make you aware of existing research material that may hold clues to aid in your research. Note also that the parish library is not staffed with a genealogist to assist with genealogy research; however, the Pointe de l'Eglise Genealogical and Historical Society is active in Acadia Parish and its members often volunteer to help other researchers.

So, if you have strong evidence that information you seek is found in a specific document and you are unable to conduct your own on-site research, I recommend that you subscribe to and use our Acadia Parish LA Queries Message Board to request assistance. As always, if you expect that a fellow researcher will provide you with a fruitful search, share the necessary details to assure success and reduce research time. Please focus on the question and reference material to be researched. In addition to the resouorces listed below, the Acadia Parish Library, in cooperation with the Society, also has on hand for user reference in the Crowley Library Archives (genealogy room) a set of five reels of 16mm microfilm indexing Louisiana deaths for the period beginning 1900-1954. The index primarily contains the following information on the deceased: Name, Age, Date of Death, Parish, Volume Number and Page/Certificate Number.

The first four reels are identified as the Louisiana State Death Index; and, the fifth is identified as the Louisiana Statewide Death Index. The index is organized alphabetically within year groups as follows:
