Martha Evelyn Franklin
Born in St. Joseph, Louisiana on Jul. 30, 1929
Departed on Jun. 11, 2004 and resided in Bastrop, LA.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Evelyn Franklin, age 74, of Bastrop will be held 2 p.m. Monday June 14, 2004 at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop with the Rev. C.V. Barker officiating. Interment will be at Carter Cemetery in Collinston under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday June 12 from 4 p.m. till 9 p.m. and Sunday till 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Franklin passed away Friday June 11, 2004 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Lee and Clara Ann Gilbreath; husbands, Loid Leon Harrell, Sr. and Samuel Junior Franklin; two brothers, John Gilbreath and Clarence Gilbreath;two grandchildren, Rebecca Ann Breedlove and Louis Buddy Breedlove, III; and two great-grandchildren, Trapper John Atkins and Shannon Renee Young.

Mrs. Franklin was retired after over thirty-five years as a waitress at Pippen's and for the past three years she was a resident at Oak Woods Nursing Home in Mer Rouge.

She is survived by three sons, Lloyd Leon Harrell, Jr. and wife Catherine of Bastrop, James Kenneth Harrell of Mer Rouge, Larry Dean Harrell and wife Sharon of Bastrop; a daughter, Shirley Ann Harrell Leonard and husband Kenny of Bastrop; three brothers, Earl Gilbreath of Tallulah, Ivan Gilbreath of Collinston, and Billy Gilbreath of Bastrop; a sister, Pauline Dacus of Transylvania; eleven grandchildren, Belinda Sue Atkins Ellinburg, David Jerome Harrell, Donald Wayne Harrell, Donnie Ray Harrell, Angela Denice Adams, Terri Lynn Young, Billy Joe Breedlove, Tina Renee Breedlove, Charlotte Catherine Ledford, Floyd Ray Ledford, Jr., and Kristy Shauna Vickers; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Caleb Lane Harrell, Zachary Cole Harrell, Skylar Whitney Harrell, Britt Webster Harrell, Cameron Wade Harrell, Chelsie Rae Harrell, McKenzie Danielle Harrell, Zachary Scott Harrell, Holly Elizabeth Harrell, Brooke Lynn Adams, Don Wayne Young, Jr., Daniel Wayne Young, Joshua Dalton Breedlove, Kaitlyn Dianne Brown, Timothy Wayne Pettis, Jr., Mickey Lynn Young, Patricia Nicole Pettis, Brittany Nicole Cabiness, and the triplets, Meredith Elaine Vickers, Ashley Nicole Vickers, and Joseph Hunter Vickers.

Pallbearers will be David Vickers, Danny McGrew, Joe McKnight, Kenny Waters, Donald Wayne Harrell, and Robert Harrell. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons, David Jerome Harrell, Donnie Ray Harrell, Billy Joe Breedlove, and Floyd Ray Ledford, Jr.


Lorene Hamby

Born in Delhi, Louisiana on Jul. 17, 1910
Departed on Jul. 8, 2005 and resided in Bastrop, LA.    

Funeral services for Lorene Caffrey Hamby, age 94, of Bastrop will be held at 3p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmie Herring and Rev. Marty Black officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.
Mrs. Hamby, a homemaker, was born July 17, 1910 and passed away Friday, July 8, 2005 at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ernest E. Hamby and one daughter, Ruth Jones.
Survivors include seven daughters, Pearl Robinson and husband Paul, Tina Atkins and husband Thomas, Gloria LeBrun and husband "Jr.", JoAnn Turner and husband Colin, all from Bastrop, La, Minnie Halloway and husband Michael of Sterlington, La Hazel Nations of Midwest City, OK and Myrtle Porter of Vicksburg, MS, 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grand children, 27 great great-grand children and one brother, Henry Caffrey and many nieces and nephews, but one very special niece and care-giver, Ivy Gene Winnon.
Pallbearers include Charles Jones, Billy Jones, Jack Jones, Wayne Jones, Roy Jones, Mike Robinson, Eugene Herlong, Ellis Nations, Bobby Porter and Ernie Turner.
