The minutes and treasurers report are posted on our website.

The deadline for Les Memories is now.  Articles are needed and may be sent to Warren LeBlanc.

Earl Gates presented a possible project for the members for 2008.  Members will be asked to present family histories in an historical context and/or as they relate to Lafayette history with the end result for possible publication in a booklet or newsprint format.

The Cemetery Project of photographing all tombstones at Fountain Memorial Cemetery undertaken by Dottie Burleigh and Glenda Shaw is completed except for the top rows within the mausoleum that are difficult to photograph head on.  These may be published in booklet form, or they may be available online in the future.

The Heritage Festival of 2006 that the Lafayette Genealogical Society participated in at St.Martinville has invited the society to participate in it for 2007.  It will be held at Pac de Lafayette on November 3rd and 4th and will be titled Les Bon Journe.  The society may not sell articles, but a canopy will be provided and all informational material will be removed overnight.  The membership voted to participate; President Patterson will post a schedule on the internet for member volunteers.

Members are reminded of the genealogical conference that will be held at the Lake Charles Civic Center on Saturday, October 27, 2007 from 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.  There will be three speakers, vendors, and a box lunch for early registrants for the fee of $25.  For further information contact Shirley Burwell, Head Genealogist, or the Genealogy staff at the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Library at tel.
