The Cemetery Committee of Dottie, and Glenda have completed the pictures of the headstones at Fountain Memorial Cemetery, except for the highest crypts within the mausoleum.  Glenda reported that an addendum will be made.  Pictures of headstones will be posted on the societys web page; an index will be available in our publication.

Glenda Shaw reported that there are a few genealogical books available at the Southside Branch of the Lafayette Public Library.  The Southwest Louisiana Records by Fr. Hebert are there, but located on a top shelf not readily accessible.

President Charles Patterson and Earl Gates presented the program What Do You Want to Know About Genealogy, Internet, or Computers?  Earl began the program by stating his objectives and goals for 2008. He suggested that each member prepare a written family history with charts, pictures, etc. with the end product a published news print paper or book that can be sold or placed in libraries.  Charles told the membership about Picasa, a free download for Photo web albums and storage.  Google Pack is another free download that searches ones own computer for word phrases; it helps locate information you have in your computer.  There are many options available.
