Dottie Burleigh gave a report on the conference that the Lafayette Genealogical Society will be presenting in October, which is National Genealogy Month. The theme will be Ancestral Footprints to be held October 14, 2006 at Grace Presbyterian Church on Roselawn Boulevard in Lafayette, LA. It has facilities that could accommodate a conference of this type. Dottie announced committee chairmen: Promotion -Jo Ann Pugh, Welcoming-Beryl Anderson, Brochures-Jean Kiesel, Speakers-Glenda Shaw, Rentals-Earl Gates, Syllabus-Brenda Fuselier, Booths-James and Lona Bourque, Lunches-Martha Luby. Door prizes and Guest Favors-Earl Gates, Registration- Warren LeBlanc. Hopefully there will be sixteen speakers for four sessions of the conference. The society needs to determine a guest registration fee and discount fees for members. Expenses may be high so donations and sponsors may be solicited; the society may be asked to make up for lost expenses. Plans are for at least one hundred people to attend; more are expected. Dottie asked that the society accept the above mentioned recommendations so the committees can move forward. Members were given a preliminary outline and comments were requested. Registration fees were discussed and will be considered; pre-registration is encouraged. 2007 membership at registration would be available. The tentative budget was Okayed by the Treasurer.
