Volume 2008 Issue 3 18 March 2008 Meeting https://sites.rootsweb.com/~lalgs/ The March 2008 meeting of the Lafayette Genealogical Society was held in the Meeting Room of the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library on March 18, 2008 at 6:30 P.M. President Earl Gates called the meeting to order. There was a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. The minutes are posted on the internet at our web site; the treasurer�s report will be posted next month. A welcome was extended to visitors. Anna and Ray Roy are researching Roy, Breaux, Girard, and Touchet. Mark Beyonce is researching the family names of Broussard, Labbe, Aubrey, and Beyonce. Mr. and Mrs. Marcotte are researching Marcotte, Cochrane and Womack. Mark and Carol Sayes are researching Sayes, Frederick and Touchet. Earl requested a Pedigree Chart from each member to include in our annual publication. Also needed is Family Charts, pictures and stories about those pictures, and stories about family. Interviews of old family members are important, interesting, and publishable. Several members had questions about Family Tree Maker; suggestions were offered by other members. President Gates introduced Carol Sue Cobb, author of a self-published book, The Life of a Small Mill Town. She enthusiastically spoke of her project, the trials, and successes of writing about the town and the people where she was raised. Her e-mail address: [email protected]. Following a short break Earl spoke of Genealogy Research in Louisiana prepared by William Thibodeaux. Handouts were available.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
