The June 2008 meeting of the Lafayette Genealogical Society was held in the Library of Grace Presbyterian Church on June 19, 2008 at 6:30 P.M. President Earl Gates called the meeting to order. Members met in a �round-table� format; President Gates led the program of �Brick Walls� based on an article from Family Tree Magazine by Sharon Debartolo Carmack entitled �Recharge Your Research�. Members asked questions, offered comments, and recounted some of their experiences. A printed handout was available.

The minutes and treasurer�s report are posted on the internet at our web site.

Members were reminded that the First Saturday Series for July will be held at the Carencro Branch Library on Saturday, July 12, 2008 which is the second Saturday, due to earlier commitment on the first Saturday there. The regular meeting of the Lafayette Genealogical Society will be held the third Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Grace Presbyterian Church at 6:30 P.M.

Earl Gates notified members that he had an inquiry from the library concerning a Judge Voorhies family from the New Orleans area. If anyone has information or is researching that family, please contact Earl.

Members were reminded that items for the annual publication is needed, such as pedigree charts, stories of ancestors, pictures, newspaper articles, and such.
