Virgil G. Crisp, entered service on Dec. 17, 1943, and received an Honorable Discharge July 25, 1945. He served one year, seven months and nine days, and fought through the battles and campaigns of Rome-Arno?Aroo, Southern France, and the Rhineland and received the following decorations and citations; European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal.
Clyde O. Wheeler, entered service March 5, 1942 and received an Honorable Discharge Aug. 3, 1945. He served 3 years and 4 months and 29 days, and fought through the Battles and Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes, and received the following decorations and citations: EAME Theater Ribbon, five Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and Purple Heart. S. Sgt. Wheeler was wounded in Germany Nov. 6, 1944.
Osa E. Banks, entered service Aug. 18, 1942, and received an Honorable Discharge July 29, 1945. Joe Mullins, USSNR? arrived in San Francisco from the Pacific on June 26. He had a months stay before being transfered from his ship so his wife Helen joined him there and they are now enjoying _____ day ___ in Dayton, OH and Campton. Joe took part in the (I'm sorry I can't read the rest) He will report back in Cincinnati, Oh for reassignment on Aug. 29th.
S. Sgt. Bert Bumgardner, who has been overseas for the past ten months is spending a 30-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bumgardner. Bert had completed 31 missions when Germany surrendered. Once he was forced to land in France, and there he met W.C. Swope, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Swope. He has been with the Army Transport Command and making flights from England to Sweden. At the end of his leave, Bert will report to San Antonio, Texas.
Pfc. Jack Bach, son of Mrs. Golden Profitt, arrived in Campton, Satruday morning to spend thirty-two days with his mother and other relatives. Jack has been in the European Theater of operations for two and one-half years. He was with Clark's Fifth Army. He was driving some officers around Berlin in a jeep when they radioed for him to come back to camp as they were making up a division for the Red Ball Trucking line to go through Burma Road, so he is here on a delay in route. He does not know whether Peace will alter his assignment.
Carmel Peck, who has made a real contribution to winning the war, joined the Merchant Marines in Feb. 1941. Since then he has been going to sea steadly and has traveled to twenty-four different countries, helping to deliver vital supplies.
James B. Roberts, Jr. entered service Aug. 4, 1940 and received an honorable discharge Aug. 4, 1945. He fought through the battles and campaigns of Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, and North Appenines and received the following decoration and citations: EAME Theater Ribbon, four Bronze Stars, America Defense Service Medal. He served one year, nine months and 12 days Continental Service and three years, two months, and one day Foreign Service.
Edward L. Spicer, entered service Feb. 24, 1942 and received an honorable discharge Aug. 8, 1945. He fought through the battles and campaigns of Normandy, Northern France and Air Offensive Europe and received the following decorations and citations: EAME Theater ribbon, three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct ribbon, Distingushed Unit Citation. He served one year, one month and 22 days Continental Service and two years, three months and 23 days Foreign Service.
Freddie G. Legg, entered service Dec. 30, 1941 and received an honorable discharge Aug. 6, 1945.
