1929 MARRIAGES


PRESSLEY-GIVENS

Mr. A.D. Pressley and Mrs. Fannie Givens were united in marriage at the
home of the brides son, Mr. David Givens in this city this afternoon, Rev.
W.C. McConnell, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, performing
the ceremony. Mr. Pressley is one of Webster county's most prominent 
citizens and best farmers and resides at Lisman and is honored and esteemed 
by all who know him. The bride is one of Providence's most beloved 
Christian women and numbers her friends by her acquaintances.

Miss Mildred Townsend and Mr. B. Shoulders were married in Evansville,

ROBERTS-CRUCE

Mrs. Robbie Sherrel Roberts and Mr. Boyd Cruce married in Princeton
recently and left for Detroit, Mich. where they will make their home.

Miss Margurite  Williams and Delbert Hill were married Sunday evening at

SIMMS-POOLE

Mr. Shellie Simms and Miss Effie Poole of this city were married in
Evansville last week. Mr. Simms recently went to Evansville where he holds 
a lucrative position. He is one of the city's most deserving citizens and 
one of the best electricians in this section. He is a friend to all and 
numbers his friends by his acquaintances. The bride is the daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. O.P. Poole and is an industrious, highly esteemed and beloved 
woman. The happy couple will make their home in Evansville and we join with 
all Providence in wishing them a happy voyage through life.

The following announcement has been received in this city; Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Lee Jackson have the honor to announce the marriage  of their niece
Virginia Baker to Mr. Edmund Randolph Long on Wed. the 27 of March 1929 at
Houston, Texas. Miss Baker's late parents were Mr. D.B. Baker and Mrs. 
Dixie Jackson Baker. Mr. Long's, father was the late Mr. E.H. Long and his 
mother is Mrs. Virginia Long, who lives at Sturgis.

Mr. Floyd Cullen and Miss Lucile Jennings  motored to Shawneetown, ILL.
Sat. and were united in marriage. Mr. Cullen is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James 
of near town and is a young man of sterling qualities and held in high 
esteem by all who knew him. The bride is the beautiful and attractive 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K.N. Jennings, this city. Mrs. Cullen, who assists 
her father in his grocery, is one of the city most highly esteemed and 
beloved young women and numbers her friends by her acquaintances.

Mr. T.G. McGaw and Miss Evelyn Pounds, formerly of this place,
were quietly married in Toledo, Ohio, April 20. They were
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. John B. East of Detroit. The bride
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Houston Pounds. She has been
employed as a saleslady in Detroit for the past nine months.
Mr. McGaw is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. McGaw. He has
resided in Detroit for the past three years and is a foreman
at Briggs Manufacturing Company. The happy couple will make
