Cary B. WOOD, 80, retired farmer, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday at his home near Shady Grove. He was a son of the late Robert W. and Pricey Wood and was a lifelong resident of Crittenden county. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. H.D. YARBROUGH, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Tom GIVENS, of Evansville, and Miss Nannie Wood, Shady Grove; and four brothers, Lynn, of Lynnwood, Calif., Ile, Bert, and William Wood, of Shady Grove. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in Shady Grove Baptist church with Rev. W. CRUMBAKER, of Madisonville, officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.E. SIRIA, also of Madisonville. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery. The body is at Melton Funeral Home and will be there until time to leave for the funeral, about 11 o'clock this morning. High water makes it necessary to go by Dawson Springs and Princeton to get from Providence to Shady Grove.

Final rites for Lieutenant Commander Charles Mills WOOD, jr., and members of his fighter bomber crew will be held at 11:30 Friday morning, Sept. 8, at Zachary Taylor National cemetery, near Louisville. The plane in which Lt. Comdr. Wood and his men were flying disappeared during a bombing mission in the Philippines on March 22, 1945 and only recently was found and the men identified. Lt. Comdr. Wood was the son of the late C.M. Wood of Princeton and Mrs. Wood who now resides in Louisville. After finishing his high school work in Princeton he attended Marion Military Institute, Marion, Ala., and graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., in 1940. He served aboard the battleship U.S.S. Nevada before going into Naval Aviation. He married the former Nell Rice WYNN of Providence and is survived by one son, Charles Mills Wood III. Miss Elizabeth S. WOOD, 92, died at 1:30 a.m. Monday in the home of her son, S.R. Wood, on Barbour street, following a brief illness. She had been ill for a few days following a fall. Survivors are four sons, J.W., J.E., and S.R. Wood, all of Providence, and M.I. Wood, of Dalton; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the home of S.R. Wood, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating. Grandsons were pallbearers. Burial was in Traylor cemetery, near Providence. Word has been received by John W. WOOD, Providence, of the death of his son, Lieut. Colonel William Ernest Wood of Washington, D.C., in the Walter Reed Hospital following an automobile accident. He was born July 12, 1912, and graduated from the Providence High School in 1930. He attended Western Teachers College at Bowling Green for one year and entered the army in 1931. In 1940, he was married to Christinia Mae De BRITO of Norfolk, Va., who survives. Lieut. Col. Wood is also survived by one son, Craig Breckinridge; his father, John Wood, Providence; his grandmother, Mrs. Samantha Wood, Providence; two sisters, Mrs. John Lee BROWN, Providence, and Mrs. Paul BARNES, Mt. Vernon, Ind.; one brother, Virgil Wood, Corinth; a half-brother, Leon Wood, and a half-sister, Mrs. William H. HILL, Providence. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at the Wastler Funeral Home in Washington, with burial to be in Arlington cemetery.

Silas WOOD, 94, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday in his home near Dixon. Survivors are four daughters, Misses Minnie and Bertha Wood, at home, Mrs. Tommy OWEN of Dixon, and Mrs. Mattie FISHER of Evansville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Necie CHANDLER of Madisonville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Lebanon church, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY of Dixon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. William Zelmon WOOD, 54, Providence Route 2, died at 9 p.m. Sunday in Veterans Hospital in Louisville. His home was near Shady
Grove in Crittenden County. Surviving are the wife Lillian; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret RICKS of Owensboro; two sons, William Lynn Wood
and John Price Wood, Providence; one grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. H.D. YARBROUGH and Miss Nannie Wood, Route 2, and
Mrs. T. H. GIVENS, Evansville; and two brothers, Bert and Lynn Wood, Route 2. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Tradewater Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. W.T. CRUMBAKER of Madisonville officiating, assisted by the Rev.

Carl WOODARD, 40, of Evansville, former Clay resident, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in an Evansville hospital following a heart attack which he suffered at 9:30. He was employed at the Greyhound Bus Station there. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Ora Woodard, Indianapolis, Ind.; his father, W.M. Woodard, Clay; three sisters, Mrs. Noah RUSSELL, Mt. Vernon, Ind., Mrs. Jim FLANNARY, St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Mary BLAINE, Clay; and three brothers, Cleve, of Detroit, Mich., Tom and Clura Woodard, Clay. The body was taken to Franklin-Hunt Funeral Home in Clay. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, August 21, 1947. The following additional details were in the next week's newspaper: Funeral services for Carl Woodard....were conducted at the Franklin-Hunt Funeral Home in Clay at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. C.A. TRAVIS, pastor of the Waggener church, officiated. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.
Cleve WOODARD, 36, of Detroit, died at 9 a.m. Friday while visiting at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary BLAINE, in Clay, following a few hours' illness. Survivors are the wife, Frances; a step-daughter, Mary Alice WHITLER; three sisters, Mrs. Blaine and Mrs. Jim FLANARY, of Clay, and Mrs. Noah RUSSELL, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; and two brothers, Thomas and Clura Woodard, of Clay. Funeral services were held at Franklin and Hunt Funeral Home in Clay at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. C.H. HOWARD, pastor of the General Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Clay.

Mrs. Fannie Burton WOODRING, 73, died at 7:40 a.m. Saturday in Cardwell's Clinic where she had been in critical condition for ten days with a heart attack. Surviving are the husband, Ira; a daughter, Mrs. Lucy MORROW, Henderson; two sons, Roy and Harold, of Providence; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma HARRIS of Clay, and Mrs. John MITCHELL of Alabama; and four brothers, Roy JOHNSON of Henderson, Willie Johnson of Morganfield, Noah Johnson of Madisonville, and Tom Johnson of Michigan. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the General Baptist Church in Providence, with the Rev. E.G. SISK officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

I.G. WOODRING, 37, died at his home in Union county near the Little
Zion section Wednesday night. He was born and reared in Webster
county. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Lady Woodring; parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J.W. Woodring; and five brothers, Forrest of Clay, Marlin and
Lynn of Henderson, Grant of Kane, Ill., and Martin Woodring of
Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the
Methodist church in Clay with the Rev. Truitt MILLER officiating.
Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

James C. WOODRING, 67, died suddenly of a heart attack near his home
in Clay Saturday evening. Survivors are a son, Mannie L. Woodring,
Ft. Custer, Mich.; and four daughters, Mrs. Tom RICH and Mrs. Jim Rich
of Clay, Mrs. Otis VALENTINE and Mrs. O.I. MILLER of Mishawaka, Ind.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Hopewell church,
with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Madisonville officiating. Burial was in

Sebree, Ky. - Irene (BRIDWELL) WOODS, 93, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Terrace Rest Home. She and her husband operated a grocery store in the Mount Lebanon community for 20 years before their retirement. She was a member of Mount Lebanon General Baptist Church, where she was treasurer and Sunday school teacher, and Mount Lebanon Homemakers Club. Surviving are a son, David Ray of Mount Lebanon; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Tony, died in 1975. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tompkins Funeral Homes Sebree-Poole Chapel, with burial in Mount Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Lebanon Cemetery Fund. Thomas Oscar WOODS, 70, died Saturday at his home near Clay. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lura WOODALL of Marion, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Enon General Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.M. FRISBY officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery.

W.M. WOODS, 61, retired farmer, formerly of the Mt. Lebanon section, died in Madisonville Tuesday night. He is survived by six sons, five daughters, and one sister. Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Lebanon church with the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD, Slaughters, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

John T. WOODSON, 50, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the home of Ivan DANIEL, Henderson, after a long illness. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Mrs. Winifred CAVANAUGH and Miss Frances Ann Woodson, both of Providence; a son, John Gordon Woodson, in the U.S. Navy; one sister, Mrs. W.T. BENTON, Henderson County, and one grandson. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Otis A. Benton and Son funeral chapel, the Rev. James THURMOND officiating. A brief graveside rite was conducted by the Rev. Leslie CHAPMAN at Big Hill cemetery in Providence.

Mrs. Margaret Ellen WOODSON, 69, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at her home on Baptist Hill. She was born August 22, 1882 in Hopkins County. She was a member of Providence Christian Church. Survivors are the husband, Walter Woodson; a foster son, Johnnie Woodson, who is preaching in Illinois; a brother, Robert OLDHAM of Diamond; and three sisters, Mrs. Will JONES of Diamond, Mrs. Edie LINDSEY of West Frankfort, Ill., and Mrs. Mary TURNER, near Clay. The body was taken to Melton Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at press time.

formerly of Providence; two sons, Ernest Woodson of Jackson, Ala., and
Claud Woodson of Bay Minette, Ala. Funeral and burial were in Bay

Walter D. WOODSON, 84, died at 2 p.m. Friday in Cardwell Hopsital where he had been a patient since Monday. He had been at
Lone Oak Rest Home in Dawson Springs for some time. He was a member of First Christian Church in Providence. Surviving are a
foster son, John; and two brothers, Denver D. Woodson, Providence, and the Rev. Johnnie J. Woodson, San Clemente, Calif.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. C.W. DUNCAN officiating. Burial was in

Mrs. Hallie WOOTEN, 75, of Nebo, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in a Hopkinsville hospital. Surviving are the husband, J.E. Wooten, Nebo; a step-daughter, Mrs. Rayburn HOBGOOD, Nebo; four step-children; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, Madisonville, and burial was in Odd Fellows cemetery, Madisonville. Mrs. Wooten was an aunt of Everett HARKINS, Parley Harkins, Paul Harkins, and Ernest Harkins, of Providence, who with Otis Harkins of Uniontown and James ADAMS of Madisonville were pallbearers.

James Bassett WOOTON, 47, of Nebo, died at 9 a.m. Saturday in an accident at Fies mine near Madisonville. He was crushed to death when he was caught between the cab of a rotary shovel and the face of the coal. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Willie Gooch Wooton; three sons, Scotty, George and Donald; father, J.E. Wooton; and a sister, Mrs. Rayburn HOBGOOD, all of Nebo. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rose Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, of which the (deceased) was a member. The Rev. Ray WIGGINTON and the Rev. J. Miller COOK officiated. Mrs. Mary MILLER WRIGHT, 80, former Webster county resident, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in San Antonio, Tex., where she made her home with a granddaughter, Mrs. Arthur VEATCH, whom she reared. Mrs. Wright, who was born and reared near Dixon, had lived in San Antonio for the past twenty years. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Essel MITCHELL, near Clay; a son, O.R. Wright, sr., Dixon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. T.M. TOWNSEND, Providence; and a brother, Huron Miller, Arkinda, Ark. The body is being returned to Tapp Funeral Home in Dixon. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but burial will be in Lisman.
