A four-day illness was fatal to Mrs. Annie Eliza SMITH, 73, who died in her home in Providence Saturday. She is survived by the husband, Carmon Smith; four daughters, Mrs. Cecil GREEN and Mrs. Ruth BURTON, Providence, Mrs. Frank SCOTT, Oak Harbor, Ohio, and Mrs. John BARNES of Detroit; three sons, Burtis BRUCE, Providence, Frank B. Smith, San Francisco, Calif., and John Smith, Detroit; 36 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Bruce, Madisonville, and Mrs. Mildred PINKLEY, Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother, Perkins Bruce, Auburn Heights, Mich. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Russell BROSHEARS in charge. Burial was in Fox cemetery.

Mrs. Blondell SMITH, 81, wife of W.I. Smith, prominent Sebree merchant, died Wednesday morning of last week in an Evansville hospital. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. BAILEY, she was born near the Ortiz section but moved with her parents to Sebree at an early age. She was a member of Sebree First Baptist Church. Surviving besides the husband are three sons, Lee of Los Angeles CA, Edwin of Evansville, and James of Sebree; two daughters, Mrs. Frances HARDIN and Mrs. Weldon STULL of Sebree; three sisters, Mrs. Henry POWELL of Sebree, Mrs. Clyde GILREATH of Houston TX, and Mrs. J.R. MARCUM of Hodgenville; a brother Joe Bailey of Mt. Vernon IN; and eight grandchildren. Funeral and burial were held Friday afternoon in Sebree. Fleming's book, Sebree...then and now, Blondelle Bailey was born July 20, 1870, a daughter of Henry C. Bailey and Frances J. PARKER of Sebree. She married William Ignatius Smith April 13, 1892. W.I. Smith (1866-1952) and his wife are both buried at Springdale Cemery.
C.D. SMITH, 70, died June 28 at his home on Route 1, Providence. Survivors are two brothers, J.A. Smith and J.W. Smith, Providence, and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. June 30 at Rose Creek church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, July 10, 1952.
Charles SMITH, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of Sebree, was killed late Friday in an auto accident, along with two other Sebree youths, on the way to a basketball game in Lewisport. (See full article under the obituary of Donald PINKSTON). The funeral of Charles Smith was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Methodist church in Sebree with the Rev. O.N. HOSKINSON, of Clay, former pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.R. GUNN, present pastor. Surviving in addition to his parents are a half-brother, Rollin; grandfather, Robert HUNTER, of Sebree; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Smith, of Evansville. Burial was in Springdale cemetery in Sebree.

Mrs. Cora Della SMITH, 77, died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday at her home near Slaughters. Survivors are two sons, Dan and Waverly Smith of Slaughters; two daughters, Mrs. Lillie PRESSLEY of Slaughters and Mrs. O.B. Smith of Hanson; four sisters, Mrs. Lloyd CRABTREE, Mrs. Thea Crabtree, Mrs. Walter ADKINS, and Mrs. Jessie SKEETERS, all of Kewanee,Ill.; a brother, Walter HAWKINS of Kewanee; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at New Hope Church, with the Rev. James WILLIAMS officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Eugene G. SMITH, 77, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Welby ALLEN, in Slaughters. Besides the sister he is survived by two brothers, C.W. Smith of Memphis, Tenn., and Walter Smith, near Slaughters. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Groves Chapel, with the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Francis Yateman SMITH, 70, of Providence, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday in an Evansville hospital a few minutes after being admitted. He was a son of the late Jesse and Mina Smith and was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are the wife, Elva M. Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth JENNINGS, Providence; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Alma WILLIAMS of Henderson, and Mrs. Virgie STEVENS of Princeton; and two brothers, Sam Smith of Miami, Fla., and Jesse Smith, Providence. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church, with the Rev. S. R. GILLIAM of Leitchfield, former pastor, officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Leslie CHAPMAN. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

J.C. SMITH, 72, former Sebree police judge, died at 12:20 a.m.
Saturday at his home in Sebree after an illness of a year from a
paralytic stroke. Survivors are the wife, Mary; a son, Opie of South
Bend, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth ERVIN of San Bernardino, Calif.; two
brothers, Dr. C.M. Smith of Dixon, and Hal Smith of Evansville; four
sisters, Mrs. Ora HALL and Mrs. Minnie CLARK of Dixon, Mrs. Cora BELL
of Sturgis, and Mrs. Maude CHANDLER of Wisconsin. Funeral services
were held Monday afternoon at the Sebree Baptist church, with burial

Pfc. Jesse E. SMITH, who was reported on May 18 as missing in action since April 28, is now reported killed in action in
the European area on that date, according to a message received last week by his family. Recent news dispatches have told of
two LST craft loaded with troops having been sunk in the English channel by German E-boats on April 28 during a rehearsal thirty-eight days before D-Day, and it is probable that Pfc. Smith met his death in that manner. He had been in service since January 1943, spent his last
furlough at home in November and was sent overseas in December. Survivors are the wife, the former Mattie Lou PRICE; two
daughters, Brenda Joyce, now a patient in Kosair Hospital in Louisville following an illness of poliomyelitis, and Jessie Wilma, born
August 26; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse W. Smith, Providence; three brothers, Pvt. J.C. Smith, Camp Wolters, Tex., Gene and
Donald, at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Denver DAVIS, Providence, Mrs. Carroll KELLEY, Nebo, and Nelda Fay Smith at home.

Larry Ray SMITH, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Smith, Hanson rural route, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville following an illness of only ten hours of lobar pneumonia. The boy's parents formerly lived in Webster county. Survivors besides the parents are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud CHANDLER, of Mishawaka, Ind., and Mrs. Cora SMITH, of Slaughters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Brick church, near Slaughters, with the Rev. Archie PUTMAN, of Mortons Gap, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Marvin Reed SMITH, 21, died Saturday at his home near Slaughters after a long illness. Survivors are the father, Walter Smith; and two brothers, Charles and Hayden Smith, all of Slaughters. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Grove Chapel Church, with the Rev. J.R. RANDOLPH of Dixon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Mary L. SMITH, 78, of Sebree, widow of the late Clarence Smith, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the home of a son, Opie Smith, in Mishawaka, Ind. She was enroute home from a visit with her daughter in Long Beach, Calif., and was visiting her son when she was stricken. Surviving besides the son are a daughter, Mrs. W.H. ERVIN of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, G.T. CARTER of Sebree; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Methodist Church in Sebree, with the pastor, the Rev. Edward HENRY, officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, Dixon.

Nathaniel SMITH, 82, former Webster county resident, died Wednesday, June 1, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Marie McALESTER, in Hollywood, Calif. The body was accompanied to Sebree by a son, Waldorf Smith, of Pasadena, Calif., coming by plane to Chicago. Another son, Vernon Smith, of Slaughters, also survives. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree, with the Rev. T.O. KYLE of Onton officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree.

Raymond SMITH, 53, died Monday at his home on route 3, Sebree. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are the wife; four daughters, Mrs. Henry PEACH and Mrs. Bill JACKSON, Evansville, and Esther and Catherine, at home; three sons, Taylor, of Evansville, and Harold and Emory, at home; three brothers, Alvie, of Sebree, Clate, Sebree route 3, and Claud, Hopkinsville; three sisters, Mrs. Sylvia PARK, of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Mary HIBBON, of Henderson, and Mrs. Berta WILSON, Sebree route 3. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Sebree Methodist church, with the Rev. Paul LOGSDON and the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree. Funeral services for Mrs. Verdia SMITH, 65, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 4, at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay. The Rev. Minvil CLARK and the Rev. E.L. GRANT officiated. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Mrs. Smith, widow of Porter Smith, died at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at her home in Clay following a heart attack. Survivors are a stepson, Marvin Smith, Clay; three sisters, Mrs. Tom BROGAN of Evansville, Mrs. Tom CHANDLER, near Dixon, and Mrs. George WILSON of Clay; and two brothers, Austin BLACKWOOD, near Clay, and Calvin Blackwood, Henderson.

Walter Hayden SMITH, 27, Slaughters Route 2, died of a heart ailment at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, in an ambulance in front
of a doctor's office in Madisonville. Surviving are the father, Walter Smith; a brother, Charles Smith; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Warren CARNAL, all of Slaughters Route 2. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Groves Chapel Church, with the Rev.
T.O. KYLE and the Rev. J.R. RANDOLPH officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

William Porter SMITH, 68, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home in Clay following a long illness. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Verda Smith; a son, Marvin Smith, Clay; one brother, Noah Smith, Lisman; and two sisters, Mrs. Mattie ARMSTRONG, Eddyville, and Mrs. Ida Armstrong, Kuttawa. Mr. Smith, a retired miner, was formerly chief of police in Clay. Funeral services are to be at 2:30 this afternoon in Franklin Funeral Home in Clay, with the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE of Poole officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.
