Dr. Baxter H. SIGLER, 57, of Owensboro, formerly of Clay, died at 4 Thursday in an Owensboro hospital following a heart attack suffered twenty-four hours earlier. Dr. Sigler, well known, eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, was born and reared in Clay, a son of Dr. and Mrs. L.J. Sigler. He graduated from Clay High School in 1913 and later from the University of Tennessee. He was with the Memphis General Hospital before entering the U.S. Navy in 1918, remaining in service until 1925. He graduated from the U.S. Navy Medical School in Washington, D.C. in 1920. He was a senior lieutenant in Barr Hospital in Charleston and served with the Atlantic fleet in the Mediterranean area. In 1927 he began his practice in Owensboro and had been there since that time. In 1928 he was married to Miss Ada MORROW, formerly of Providence, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Miss Mary Baxter Sigler, Owensboro; the parents, of Clay; a brother, Dr. E.W. Sigler, Henderson; and two sisters, Mrs. Tom CURRY and Miss Lillian Sigler, both of Clay. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Delbert J. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Clay. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, August 4, 1949.
D.M. SIGLER, 89, died Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in his home at Shady Grove. Mr. Sigler lived in Providence for a number of years and was associated with his son, Dewey H. Sigler, in the shoe repair business. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E.C. BOSTER, Shady Grove, and Mrs. Frank RINGO, of Diamond; four sons, W.F., of Shady Grove, Elmer, of Bakersfield, Calif., Allen, of Ohio, and Dewey H. Sigler, Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, S.U. Sigler, Providence; one sister, Mrs. Kate HOPKINS, Providence; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The body is at the home in Shady Grove. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Shady Grove Baptist church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Diamond, officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery.

Davis D. SIGLER, 88, died Sunday at 7:50 a.m. at the home of his son,
John Sigler, in Clay, after a weeks' illness. Survivors besides the
son are two brothers, Dr. L.J. Sigler, Clay, and James R. Sigler,
Robards. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in the General
Baptist church in Clay, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY of Dixon
officiating, assisted by the Rev. R. T. MITCHELL of Clay. Burial was

Eurie SIGLER, 69, of Henderson, formerly of Clay, died Friday in an Effingham, Ill., hospital. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. J.E. ROBERTSON of Effingham, Mrs. Gus HILL of Evansville, Mrs. Ernie FOSTER and Mrs. Ruby ANDERSON of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Fannie VILLINES, near Dixon; and five brothers, Willie and Carl Sigler, of Henderson, Luther Sigler of Anthoston, Jay Sigler of Corydon, and Jim Sigler of Palm Beach, Fla. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Rev. Clyde DEMPSEY of Sturgis officiating. Burial was in an Evansville cemetery.

Herbert SIGLER, 59, World War I veteran, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in a Government hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Survivors are two brothers, Curtis, of Evansville, and Jesse Sigler, Providence; and two sisters, Mrs. Frank FORD and Mrs. Ruby TEAGUE, Providence. The body is expected to arrive Friday morning and will be taken to Tapp Funeral Home in Providence. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Jasper David SIGLER, 65, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at his home near Providence. Survivors are the wife, Alpha; two sisters, Miss Gertha Sigler, Providence, and Mrs. Susie ALEXANDER, Eldorado, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gum Grove church, with the Rev. Oscar DUNCAN officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ray DORRIS. Burial was in the Sigler family cemetery near the church.

John Brady SIGLER, who formerly lived in the Little Zion section and in Clay, died Sunday morning in Indianapolis, Ind., where he had lived for the past six months. Survivors are the wife, Lue Tishie; three sons, Alfred and Roy, of Indianapolis, and Everett, of Henderson; a daughter, Mrs. Zalla ALEXANDER, of Indianapolis; three half brothers, William and George, of Clay, and Richard, of Evansville; and a grandson. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Rev. Arvel OAKLEY officiating. Burial was in Fernwood cemetery, Henderson.

John Wayne SIGLER, five-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Sigler of Clay, died at 4 p.m. Friday in an Evansville hospital. Survivors besides the parents are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Sigler of Wheatcroft and Mr. and Mrs. Russell CUMMINS of Marion. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home, with the Rev. Frank MITCHELL of Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the Sullivan cemetery.

Mrs. Lucy Frances SIGLER, 49, died at 5 a.m. Saturday at her home in Providence following a long illness. Mrs. Sigler, the former Lucy Frances HOPPER, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are the husband, Jesse Sigler; two daughters, Miss Rayma Faye Sigler and Miss Ruth Frances Sigler, at home; two sons, Jesse D. and Lawrence Earl, at home; her father, Andy Hopper of Clay; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard BECKNER and Mrs. Chester COWAN of Clay, and Mrs. Aubrey JENKINS, Providence; and a brother, Orville Hopper, Clay. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob WALLACE of Wheatcroft officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Slover church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Philip G. SIGLER, 74, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday at his home on Pine street in Providence. He was a member of Providence General Baptist church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruby KEMP, Madisonville; two sons, Roy and Roland, both of Providence; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ivy BARNETT, Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the General Baptist Church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Edward CARVER. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery.

Marion Thomas SIMMONS, 53, of Providence, died Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo., enroute to a hospital after he collapsed on the street. He had left here three weeks ago to look for work. He formerly was employed in Kansas City, Kan., but had been working here as a painter. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ora Simmons, and a brother, Charlie Ray Simmons, both of Providence. The body will arrive at Melton Funeral Home tonight and funeral services will be held there. Arrangements have not been completed. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, July 21, 1955.

Morris Benjamin SIMMONS, 80, died at 10:48 p.m. Monday after several years' illness. He was born Jan. 6, 1870 in Gallatin county, Illinois, and was a member of the General Baptist church in Providence. Surviving are the wife, Ada; two daughters, Mrs. Willie ROBARDS, of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Jack RILEY, Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna HARP, Centralia, Ill., and Mrs. Emily HOGUE, Terre Haute, Ind.; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the General Baptist church, with the Rev. W.M. FRISBY officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Charles Brackett SIMPSON, 91, died at 8 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam WELLS near Wheatcroft. Surviving are a son, Charles Simpson of Cartersville, Ill.; two foster daughters, Mrs. Sam Wells, near Wheatcroft and Mrs. Vera MONTGOMERY of Parkersburg, Pa.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. S.C. HAMMACK, Providence rural route, and Mrs. Ruby HEINBERGER of Little Rock, Ark. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Springs Baptist Church, near Wheatcroft, with the Rev. Bob WALLACE officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic rites at the grave. E. Welly SIMPSON, who formerly lived in Crittenden county between Providence and Shady Grove, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at his home in Lexington following a stroke. Survivors are the wife, Mabel; and two sons, Clifford and Henry, of Lexington. He was a brother of the late Kelly Simpson, of Providence. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Simpson, of Crittenden county. Funeral and burial were in Lexington Monday.

Mrs. Georgie SIMPSON, 81, of Henderson, formerly of Clay, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henry GATEWOOD in Henderson. Surviving besides Mrs. Gatewood are two other daughters, Mrs. Roy MYERS and Mrs. Gus GISH of Henderson; two sons, Lee of Henderson and Dolph of Evansville; two brothers, Jim CARRIER of West Frankfort, Ill., and Jake Carrier of Eldorado, Ill.; 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson and burial was in Fernwood cemetery there.

James Mansfield SIMPSON, jr., 89, retired farmer, died at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday at his home near Shady Grove. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Mansfield Simpson, sr., and was born and raised in Crittenden county. He was a charter member of Tradewater Valley Baptist Church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Floyd McCONNELL, Shady Grove; three sons, Lawrence of Providence, Aubrey and Charlie of Shady Grove; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Thomas DUNLAP of Central City; and two brothers, S.W. Simpson of Providence and Booth Simpson of Missouri. His wife died in 1949. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tradewater Valley Church, with the Rev. Rupert UTLEY of Madisonville officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.E. SIRIA of Madisonville. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tradewater Valley Baptist church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. W.E. SIRIA, of Madisonville, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carl HARKINS, of Providence. Burial was in the cemetery at Shady Grove.

Richard Clifton SIMPSON, 45, of Lexington, who formerly lived in Crittenden county near Shady Grove, died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday in a veterans hospital in Louisville. He was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington and Lexington Masonic lodge No. 1. Survivors are the wife, Mary M.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simpson, near Shady Grove; two daughters, Sharon Rose and Susan Ann, Lexington; and two brothers, Charlie, Repton rural route, and Eugene, Marion rural route. The body was brought Monday to Melton Funeral Home and was taken to the parents' home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Enon church, with the Rev. W.M. FRISBY officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, with Masonic rites at the grave by the Shady Grove lodge.

Mrs. Sophia Elizabeth SIMPSON, 69, died at 5 p.m. Friday in Providence after drinking carbolic acid two hours earlier. Survivors are the husband, Stonewall Simpson, to whom she was married two months ago; three daughters, Mrs. Ina WINSTEAD, of Madisonville, Mrs. Willie FLOYD, of Sebree, and Mrs. John GARRETT, of Wheatcroft; two brothers, Robert CLARK, Madisonville, and Eddie Clark, Billings, Mont.; one sister, Mrs. Vera BELL, Providence; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the Union church in Wheatcroft, with the Rev. C.H. HOWARD, pastor of Clay General Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in the Curry cemetery between Wheatcroft and Blackford.

Andrew Jackson SISK, 74, well known Providence business man, died at 8 a.m. Sunday at his home on North Broadway, following an illness of a few days. Mr. Sisk was born in Dalton April 20, 1878, the son of Logan and Nancy BROWN Sisk, and was the last surviving member of their family. He had two sisters, the late Mrs. Holt PATE and Mrs. Will FOX, and a brother, Everett, who died in infancy. He became a Christian early in life and was one of the oldest members of First Baptist Church. He has had a long business career here, starting work in the store for C.J. SLATON, his brother-in-law, in 1900. He also worked for the J.W. Givens Dry Goods store, the Boston Store and others, ending his store career with the Providence Coal Mining Company. He retired and entered the tailoring business for himself which he successfully carried on until his death. He was married April 24, 1900 to Mrs. Ruth G. Slaton. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on that date in 1950. Mrs. Sisk and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret SHARP, clerk in the Madisonville Post Office, survive, also several nieces and nephews. The body was taken at noon Tuesday to First Baptist Church to lie in state until time for the funeral at 2 o'clock. The pastor, the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY, and Elder J.D. SHAIN of Madisonville officiated. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Funeral services for Clarence SISK, 43, who was fatally injured in a mine in Butte, Mont., on Monday, September 22, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Mt. Gilead Church. The body arrived Sunday and was taken to the home of a brother-in-law, Clifton HIGDON, near Slaughters. The Rev. Carl SMITH of Earlington officiated and burial was in Mt. Gilead cemetery. Mr. Sisk was a former resident of the Slaughters section. Surviving are the wife, the former Estella Higdon, and a daughter, Mrs. Alexander NEDEMOVIC, both of Butte; his mother, Mrs. Charlotte EPLEY of Hanson; and two brothers, James Sisk of Hanson and Elbert Sisk of Slaughters.

Clement Lee (Clem) SISK, 53, prominent business man of Providence, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday of last week in Crittenden County Hospital in Marion following a cerebral hemorrhage. He and Mrs. Sisk and her brother, Albert BROWN, were taking a drive and he was stricken just as they reached Marion. A physician was summoned and he was taken to the hospital, where he died a few minutes after arrival without regaining consciousness. He had been in ill health for several months. Mr. Sisk was born in Dalton Aug. 1, 1897, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sisk. He came to Providence as a young man and was employed for some time in the Boston Store before entering business for himself. At the time of his death he was operating Sisk Motor Company, Pontiac agency. He was a member of Eagles lodge. He was married May 21, 1919 to Miss Mary Virginia BROWN, who survives. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Fay MORGAN, Nebo, and a brother, Dayton Sisk, Evansville, Ind. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Primitive Baptist church, with the pastor, Elder Gordon HEARON, of Clay, officiating, assisted by Elder J.D. SHAIN, of Madisonville. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Mrs. Inez SISK, 86, widow of Tom Sisk, Providence merchant, died at 8 a.m. Saturday in Cardwell Hospital. She was a member of First
Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Goldie JOHNSTON and Mrs. Newman HOLT of Providence, and Mrs. W.D. KELLEN of Ft. Thomas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
Monday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert O. WILLIAMS officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetry.

J. Rolla SISK, 53, Nebo, rural mail carrier, died at 2:20 a.m. Friday shortly after being admitted to Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville. He had suffered a light stroke of paralysis two days earlier. Surviving are the wife, Marie, Nebo; one daughter, Mrs. David SHARP, Madisonville; two brothers, Clem Sisk, Providence, and Dayton Sisk, Evansville; and one sister, Mrs. U.S. MORGAN, Nebo. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the home at Nebo, with the Rev. Edward COFFMAN, of Russellville, officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery, Nebo, with Masons in charge.

Surviving besides the wife are one daughter, Mrs. Edgar JOHNSON, Madisonville; a son, Maira Sisk, Providence rural route; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Amplis Sisk, Chicago, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 this afternoon at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rupert UTLEY of Madisonville officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery, Madisonville. Mrs. Mary SISK, 75, Dalton section, died at 3 p.m. Saturday in her home after a series of paralytic strokes. Surviving are the husband, G.D. Sisk; a son, Lloyd Sisk, Dalton; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four brothers, Roy, Rum, Radd and S.T. TAPP, all of the Beulah section. A sister, Mrs. Josie Bassett JOHNSON, 69, Madisonville, died November 21. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Beulah church. Burial was in the Old Beulah cemetery.

Sam SIZEMORE, 62, former Webster County resident, died Friday at his home in Madisonville following an illness of two years. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are the wife, Nellie; three daughters, Mrs. Barron HOARD; Mrs. Clarence OATES, and Miss Mary Sizemore; two sons, Willis Thomas and Edward Whitson, all of Madisonville; a brother, Auro, Slaughters; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at Mt. Gilead Church, with the Rev. Oscar DUNCAN of Manitou officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. William SIZEMORE, 73, lifelong resident of Sebree, died December 19 at his home there. A brother, Fred Sizemore, Sebree, is the only survivor. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Funeral Chapel in Sebree, with the Rev. O.W. LASSITER, Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree.
