Mrs. Laura PRATHER, who formerly lived here, died at Madisonville Tuesday and was buried here Wednesday afternoon. Rev. DILLON, of Madisonville, officiated at the funeral. Her mother, Mrs. F.W. STIMAN, and two sisters, Mrs. M.F. SMITH and Mrs. R.S. COFFMAN reside here. Slaughters, Ky., Nov. 9, 1916. Copied from the Dixon Journal, November 10, 1916. Compiler's note: Laura Prather, 7 Oct 1861-7 Nov 1916, and her husband Enos Prather, who died 26 Jul 1911, are both buried in Slaughters Cemetery. I have more information on their ancestry; Laura Prather was the daughter of W.M.J. CROWLEY, who died about 1866, and Sidney Prather, who married F.W. Stiman after the death of W.M.J. Crowley. William R. PRATHER, 84, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at his home in Slaughters. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Emma Prather; two sons, Basil of South Bend, Ind., and Chester Lee Prather, Slaughters; a brother, Robert Prather, Slaughters; two granddaughters, Mrs. Richard ANDERSON, South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Bob HORN, Bowling Green; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Slaughters Methodist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. A.N. YANCEY, officiating. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery.

Levi PRESSLEY, 82, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at his home on Route 1, Slaughters. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Lillie Pressley; two sons, Lewis Pressley, Madisonville Route 4, and Andrew Pressley, Slaughters; two brothers, Estel Pressley, Mortons Gap, and Al Pressley, Coiltown; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha DAME, Evansville, Miss Florence Pressley, Mortons Gap, Miss Olive Pressley, Henderson; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brick Church near Slaughters, with burial in the church cemetery.

Benjamin W. "Jack" PRICE, 65, of Seymour, Ind., a native of Dixon, died recently in a hospital there after having been ill for 20 months. He had been at a nursing home there the past 15 months. Mr. Price, a retired telegrapher, was born August 17, 1878, in Dixon, the son of the late Joseph H. and Nancy J. BROOKS Price. He was never married. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Seymour. Surviving are a brother, Joseph A. Price, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Leslie MONTGOMERY of Seymour, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Seymour and burial was in Floral Park, Indianapolis. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, April 28, 1955.
Claud DeWitt PRICE, 65, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at his home in Lisman following an illness of several months. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Annie Price, Lisman; a son, Carl Price, Madisonville; two daughters, Mrs. G.M. PRIDE, of Evansville, and Mrs. Harold WILSON, of Morganfield; his mother, Mrs. Annie Price, Providence; three brothers, Carlos and Burley Price, of Providence, and Rex Price, of Bowling Green; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lisman Cumberland Presbyterian church, with the Rev. W.O. PARR officiating. Burial was in the Lisman cemetery.

E.T. (Bud) PRICE, 76, former resident of Webster county, died suddenly Friday of a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Don SCHWAB in Ft. Wayne, Ind. Mr. Price was the youngest son of the late Joe Price, of Lisman. Survivors besides the daughter are the wife, Gertrude, of Ft. Wayne; two sons, R.M. Price, Norfolk, Va., and Sloane, Colorado Springs; and a number of relatives in Providence and Lisman. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Tom GIBSON, Providence. Funeral and burial were in Ft. Mrs. Eddie Mayfield PRICE, 81, widow of the late Bratton Price, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at her home on Barnes street. Mrs. Price was born November 30, 1871, in Webster county. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lisman. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Madeline SHELTON, Providence; a son, Algie Price of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. H.V. DAUGHERTY officiating. Burial was in Lisman cemetery.

Mrs. Effie MITCHELL PRICE, 52, wife of John B. Price, formerly of Providence, died in her home in Washington, D.C., at 1:30 a.m. Friday after a brief illness of a heart ailment. Mrs. Price was born in Lismon on June 16, 1895, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Mitchell. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Providence. Survivors are the husband; a daughter, Miss Jane Bassett Price, both of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. J.C. BARNHILL, Providence, and Miss Flora Mitchell, Washington; two nieces, Mrs. Marcus COWAN, Providence, and Miss Bettylu Mitchell, Manchester, Mo.; and two nephews James C. Barnhill, jr., Providence, and Ernest B. Mitchell, Manchester, Mo. The body arrived in Providence Sunday and remained at Melton Funeral Home until time for the funeral service which was at 4 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian church. Dr. David AUSMUS, Mayfield, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY. Pallbearers were James C. Barnhill, jr., Marcus Cowan, Bobbie HANCOCK, Charlie Barnhill, Baker THOMPSON, and Ramsey DORRIS. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, August 21, 1947.
George Ed PRICE, 33, assistant cashier of the Farmers Bank, Clay, was found dead by his wife, Mrs. Mary Charles Price, home economics teacher, when she returned home from school Friday afternoon around 4 o'clock. A self-inflicted wound with an automatic shot gun was the cause of his death according to a coroner's jury and the time was set as probably being about noon Friday. It is reported that there was an undisclosed shortage in the bank's accounts but that the shortage is fully covered by insurance. Coroner J.M. BLUE said that Price had been reported as seemingly worried and despondent since the bank had been robbed the previous Monday. Price had fired two shots at the two fleeing bandits as they sped away in a car. Price went to Evansville Tuesday with insurance officials to claim the larger part of the money which had been secured during the robbery. Mr. Price was extremely well-thought of in Clay and throughout the county and had been very active in business and fraternal circles. He graduated from the Clay high school in 1932 and started working in the bank that year. He was a member of the First Baptist church and was married in 1940 to Miss Mary Charles FARRIS of Murray. Price was a thirty-second degree Mason. He was secretary of the Royal Arch Masons, treasurer of Jachin Lodge, F.&.A.M., Clay, a member of the Rizpah Temple Shrine at Madisonville, a member of the Eastern Star, and also was a member of the Kentucky Bankers Association. He also was head of the Price and Quirey Insurance agency in Clay. Surviving besides the wife are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Price, near Clay; three brothers, Charles of Milford, Del., Graham S. of Murray, and Carl Hunt Price, Clay; and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. J.T. SKINNER, Clay. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist church with Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiating. Following the service at the church, the Masons were in charge with a short service at the cemetery with N.C. HAMMACK acting as chaplain. Pallbearers were Carl PARKER, T.L. STANTON, jr., J.Edgar PRIDE, Sam RAMSEY, Kelly HEARON, and Elmo UTLEY. Flower bearers were members of the Eastern Star. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

J.W. PRICE, 69, former Webster County resident, died Thursday, June 25, at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio, following a heart attack. He was born in the Corinth section September 28, 1883. Surviving are the wife, Claudia; a son, W.D. Price of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. G.B. AUSTIN of Providence; two granddaughters and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, June 29, at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson and burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Madisonville with Masonic rites at the grave.

Jeff Davis PRICE, 76, died at 9 a.m. Saturday at the home of a son, Willie Bob Price and Mrs. Price in Wheatcroft following a long illness. He had been in ill health since April and had been in the hospital a number of times. Mr. Price was the son of Dr. Enoch and Lucy KUYKENDALL Price and was born and reared near Lisman. For the last thirty years he had made his home in Wheatcroft. His wife, Jennie HART Price, died twenty-eight years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Lisman. Survivors are three sons, W.B. and Joe Price, Wheatcroft, and Paul Price, Newcastle IN; five daughters, Mrs. J.M. CREAGER, Ft. Thomas; Mrs. N.C. STILL, Bellevue; Mrs. Frank IRWIN, Newcastle IN; Mrs. Charles FAHRER, Cincinnati OH; and Mrs. Edward SPRAUL, Cold Spring; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy TOWNSEND and Mrs. Pearl BLACKBURN, Clay; a half-sister, Miss Kate Price, near Clay; a half-brother, Charley Price, near Clay; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Rock Springs Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Raymond HAZEL of Wheatcroft officiating. Burial was in the Lisman Cemetery. afternoon in the Cumberland Presbyterian church in Lisman, with the Rev. R.T. MITCHELL officiating. Burial was in Lisman

Mrs. Macy PRICE, 90, of Lisman, widow of the late E.M. Price, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Cardwell's Clinic in Providence. she suffered a broken hip Friday in a fall at her home and was brought to the clinic Saturday. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Mary K. JENKINS, of Lisman, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lisman Cumberland Presbyterian church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. R.T. MITCHELL of Clay, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Maggie S. PRICE, 91, of Kingsville, Texas, formerly of Clay, died Monday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ruby WALDEN in Blythesville, Ark. Surviving besides Mrs. Walden are three other daughters, Mrs. Verna JENKINS of Chicago, Mrs. Floyd L. RUSSELL of East Prairie, Mo., and Mrs. Virgie MELTON of Anniston, Mo.; two sons, C.R. Price of Kingsville, Texas and Thurman Price of Detroit; two stepchildren, Mrs. Minnie TATE of Dallas, Texas and Claude Price of St. Louis; a brother, J.W. NALL of Clay; two half sisters, Mrs. Fannie SHANKS of Batesville , Ark., and Mrs. Hester TACKE of Allensville, Mo.; a half brother, Ben Nall of Brooklyn, Ark.; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral and burial services were in East Prairie, Mo., Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Mary PRIDE, 57, of Clay, died Saturday morning at an Evansville hospital following several months illness. She was the widow of the late C.M. Pride and was very active in church, school, club and civic work. At the time of her death she was employed at the Farmer's Bank in Clay. Surviving are two sons, George M. Pride of Evansville, and A/1c Carl Marlin Pride of Smyrna, Tenn.; her mother, Mrs. C.E. REASOR, near Clay; two sisters, Mrs. C.E. FREER, near Clay, and Mrs. Gladys Dale LAZIN of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers, William Reasor and Junior Reasor of Detroit, and Orville Reasor of Evansville. Funeral services were held at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay at 2 p.m. Monday. Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiated, assisted by the Rev. G.R. ABERNATHY. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery at Clay.

ARMSTRONG of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Mrs. James L. Armstrong of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three brothers, T.R. BOZARTH of Lawrenceville, Ill., H.G. Bozarth of Little Rock, Ark., and R.E. Bozarth of Providence; two sisters, Mrs. Turney BRYANT and Mrs. Carl OAKLEY of Dixon; stepmother, Mrs. Necie JOHNSON of Dixon; and four grandchildren. Funeral and burial were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sugar Grove Church in Crittenden county.

and his mother, Mrs. Maggie HAIRE of Dixon. Funeral services were
held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at Free Union General Baptist church,
with the Rev. CARROLL of Earlington in charge. Burial was in I.O.O.F.

Carson PROCTOR, sr., 57, formerly of Providence, died at 5 p.m. Saturday at his home in Evansville of a heart ailment. He had been admitted to a hospital after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday but had returned home just a few hours before the fatal attack. Mr. Proctor, a boiler operator at Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company, was a deacon in Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are the wife, the former Miss Lola MARKS; a son, Carson, jr., of Park Forest, Ill.; his mother, Mrs. Charles Proctor, Evansville; two brothers, Herbert and James R., of Evansville; and two grandchildren, Penny and Mike Proctor. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Evansville, with the Rev. A.H. CULLEN officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery, Providence.

Gus PROCTOR, 80, former Providence resident, died at 4 a.m. today in his home in Evansville. Survivors are the wife; four sons, Herbert, Charlie, Rash, and Carson Proctor, all of Evansville; and a brother, Lindsey Proctor, of California. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Mrs. Lottie Mae PRUITT, 20, of Gary, Ind., formerly of Providence, was killed Friday morning in a traffic accident in Gary. She was thrown from the car driven by her husband when the car and a truck collided at a slippery intersection and the truck ran over her head. The Pruitts' two daughters, Marilyn, 2, and Charlotte, 1, were injured slightly and were hospitalized in Gary. Surviving besides the husband, Orville, and the two children are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas VICK, Providence; a brother, Curtis, Providence; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Babe Vick and Mr. and Mrs. W.G. WAIDE, Providence. The body arrived at Tapp Funeral Home Sunday and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Waide. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at White Oak church, with the Rev. Rupert UTLEY of Madisonville officiating. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.

Mrs. Belle PULLAM, 72, widow of Lute Pullam, was found dead in bed at 4:30 Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur CARNAHAN and Mr. Carnahan, in the Hopewell section. Mrs. Pullam, who lived at the Carnahan home, had been in ill health for some time but seemed as well as usual Saturday night except for a headache. Coroner J.D. BLACKBURN, who attributed death to a heart attack, said she probably died around midnight. Surviving besides the daughter are a brother, J.B. BYRD of Clay; a half-brother, Crawford Byrd, near Clay; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay, with the Rev. E.G. SISK officiating. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery.

Jan Julian PUNDT, 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Pundt of Evansville, formerly of Providence, died of pneumonia at 5 p.m. Friday in an Evansville hospital. He had been slightly ill for a few days, but his condition became worse Thursday night and he was admitted to the hospital Friday morning. Survivors besides the parents are two brothers, Peter Van and Frederick Stephen Pundt; grandparents, Mrs. Katharyn Pundt, Evansville, and the Rev. and Mrs. Benjamin CONNAWAY, Providence; great-grandmother, Mrs. Z.T. Connaway, Henderson; and two aunts, Miss Grady Connaway, Somerville, N.J., and Miss Mary Bassett Connaway, Frankfort. The body was brought to the home of the grandparents here and funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist church, with the Rev. C.O. SIMPSON of Clay officiating. Pallbearers were Charles TRAVIS, Neil Wayne Travis, Billie HIGGINSON, James Doyle CROSS, Gene McGREGOR, and Jerry Wayne SISK. Burial was in Fairmont cemetery, Henderson. Mrs. Mary Ella PURYEAR, 68, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday at her home near Sebree, following several months' illness. Survivors are the husband, T.A. Puryear; three daughters, Mrs. Mahlon COTTINGHAM and Mrs. A.O. WATSON of Sebree, and Mrs. Gilbert McCUTCHAN of Evansville; four grandchildren; one brother, Huston SPENCER of Morganfield; and two sisters, Miss Betty Mae Spencer and Miss Sallie Spencer of Poole. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Poole, with L.H. POGUE of Henderson officiating. Burial was in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. SALE officiated and burial was in Slaughters cemetery. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jenny WALKER of Calvert City, Mrs. Ivy MAJORS of Evansville, Mrs. Loy HEIGHT of Louisville, and Miss Mary M. Qualls of Evansville; a son, Delmar Qualls of Hanson; one brother, Roland Brooks, Slaughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

William R. QUIGLEY of Madisonville, husband of the former Lanie (unreadable), of Clay, died Wednesday night of last week in a Danville hospital. Survivors besides the wife are a son, Robert Quigley, Detroit, Mich; and two daughters, Mrs. Martha NANCE and Miss Ruby Quigley of Madisonville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, with the Rev. Wilber WALLACE of Greenville officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

Colvin E. QUIREY, 40, who was born and reared in Wheatcroft, was found dead in bed in his room in Evansville Monday. He had been under a physician's care for a heart condition. He was a former Briggs Indiana Corporation employee. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian church in Wheatcroft. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Frances Quirey, Slaughters; a daughter, Janice, Slaughters; two brothers, Courtney Quirey of Sturgis and C.T. Quirey of Bowling Green; two sisters, Miss Ruby Quirey of Detroit and Mrs. Stella WALLACE of Bowling Green. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Slaughters Christian Church, with the pastor, the Rev. B.L. SALE, in charge. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery.
