James Marlin PEMBERTON, 42, former Clay man, died at 4:20 pm. Monday
in an Evansville hospital. He was a veteran of World War I and was
living in Evansville where he was a foreman at the Briggs plant.
Surviving are the wife, Louise; his father, Lee Pemberton, Clay; a
brother, Archie, of Madisonville, and a sister, Miss Minnie Pemberton
of Covington. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock this morning
at Ziemer funeral home in Evansville, with burial in Locust Hill

Mrs. Mary Katherine PEMBERTON, 78, of Lisman, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alvis HEARIN of Corydon, following a long illness. She had been taken there two weeks ago. Other survivors are two sons, Denver Pemberton of Clay and Morris Pemberton of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Maud DAVIS of Lisman and Mrs. W.W. CARTER of Clay; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The body has been returned to the home in Lisman. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lisman, with the pastor, the Rev. Alfred BENNETT officiating. Burial will be in Lisman cemetery.

Mrs. Nell PEMBERTON, 56, wife of Clyde Pemberton, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday in Cardwell's Clinic following several months' illness. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. James GREEN of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sisters, Mrs. Carl RAMSEY, Mrs. James VAUGHN, Mrs. T.J. WILLIAMS, and Mrs. Henry SCHMIDT, of Providence; two brothers, Louis BUCKNER, Providence, and Weldon Buckner, South Bend, Ind.; and two grandchildren. The body is at Tapp Funeral Home in Providence where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, with the Rev. Leslie CHAPMAN, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Clyde Edward PENROD, 73, of Weirton, W. Va., formerly of Providence, died Wednesday of last week in Weirton General Hospital
where he had been a patient for four weeks. Surviving are the wife, Delcenia Green Penrod; two daughters, Mrs. Dempsey HARRIS of
Bloomingdale, Ohio, and Mrs. Roy YATES of South Bend Ind.; two brothers, Herbert of Providence and William of Dixon; fourteen
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A son, Richard Penrod of Providence, was killed in a Stony Point mine accident last
October. Funeral services were conducted Friday at Steele and Wolfe Funeral Home in Weirton, with the Rev. Howard WARWICK

Richard T. PENROD, 34, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville of injuries caused by a slate fall at Stony Point Coal Company where he was employed. Death was caused by a fractured skull. W.M. SAYLERS of Morganfield, who suffered a broken leg in the same accident, was taken to the hospital in Madisonville and later to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Surviving are the wife, the former Miss Corella MEAZLE; two daughters, Marilyn and Sheila, and a son, Harold Wayne, at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Penrod, Providence; and two sisters, Mrs. Mattie HARRIS of Bloomingdale, Ohio, and Mrs. Roy YATES of North Liberty, Ind. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Hewlett MURPHY of Evansville officiating. Burial was in Cullen cemetery.

Funeral services for Cpl. James H. PERKINS, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dock Perkins, Nebo route 1, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coiltown Holiness church. The young man was killed in North Africa on Dec. 6, 1942. The body arrived Tuesday. The Rev. Christy MARTIN officiated at services, assisted by the Rev. Chester BROWN and the Rev. Wilbur SIZEMORE. Burial was in the Nebo cemetery. Members of the Providence American Legion and VFW posts conducted military rites. Surviving besides the parents are a son, James Wayne; three brothers, Estill and Clarence, of Arizona, and Marvin, Nebo route 1; seven sisters, Mrs. Flossie BURKE, of Arizona, Mrs. Eldora MELTON, of Madisonville, Mrs. Dorothy AUSTIN and Mrs. Juanita VICKERS, of Evansville, Mrs. Mildred MILLER, of Alabama, Mrs. Lura Mae BLADES, of Central City, and Miss Jerry Perkins, Nebo route 1.

Mrs. Verna RINGO PERRY, 63, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Blackford, died Monday night, June 29, in Daviess County Hospital in Owensboro following three months' illness. Surviving are one son, W.C. Perry of Owensboro; one brother, Elbert Ringo of Sturgis; and three grandchildren. The body was brought Wednesday morning to Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Baptist Church in Blackford, with Dr. C.O. SIMPSON of Clay officiating. Burial was in the Blackford cemetery.

Mrs. Eliza PERRYMAN, 69, of Louisville, formerly of Wheatcroft, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in a Louisville hospital following a long illness. The body was brought that afternoon to Franklin and Hunt Funeral Home in Clay. Surviving are a son, Willie Perryman, of Louisville; three grandchildren; two brothers, Lee DENNY, of Eldorado, Ill., and Jim Denny, of Harrisburg, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. E.G. SISK, of Diamond, officiating. Burial was in Rosebud cemetery in Crittenden county.

Mrs. Frances PETTUS, 25, of Evansville, formerly of Slaughters, died at 11 a.m. Monday in an Indianapolis hospital. Surviving are the husband, Harold Pettus; a son, Barry, Evansville; parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Clarence AUSTIN, Hanson, Route 1; two brothers Carl and Billy Austin; and six sisters, Rachel, Peggy, Ruth, Shirley, Katherine, and Amber Austin, all of Hanson, Route 1. W.D. PETTUS, 62, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday in his home in Madisonville. Mr. Pettus, a retired railway postal clerk, had been in declining health for three years. He was a native of Slaughters, but for the past 25 years had made his home in Madisonville. A veteran with the U.S. Navy service, Mr. Pettus was a member of Madisonville First Christian Church, Hopkins County Post No. 6, American Legion, and F. and A.M. lodge No. 143, Madisonville. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Gladys Pettus; two daughters, Mrs. Harold LEASURE, Madisonville, and Mrs. Dallas ARNOLD, Louisville; four grandchildren; and a brother, I.L. Pettus, Slaughters. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 Friday afternoon at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, with the Rev. John HARDY, pastor of Madisonville Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows cemetery, Madisonville.

Samuel Lee PETTY, 58, of Sebree, died at 10 a.m. Monday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Willie HAZARD, in Evansville. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee DAVENPORT, of Evansville; two brothers, James of Evansville and Ray of Sebree; a sister, Mrs. Florence KNIGHT of Hickory; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Onton Methodist church, with the Rev. Leslie CHAPMAN officiating. Burial was in Onton cemetery.

Wallace PETTY, 53, of Marion, formerly of Clay, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, in Crittenden County Hospital following a long illness. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Hobert FRANKLIN; and two nieces, Mrs. Edgar BIGGS and Miss Dorothy Franklin of Marion. Mr. Petty was a member of the Methodist Church in Clay. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hunt Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Robert DeLAND officiating. Burial was in Mapleview cemetery in Marion.

Hubert PEVELER, 50, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at his home in Dixon. Surviving are the wife, Addie; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd SISK, jr., of Henderson; mother, Mrs. Myrtle Peveler of Midland; two sisters, Mrs. Lemma WILKINS of Midland and Mrs. Martin CORNETTE of Greenville; five brothers, Ben of Akron, Ohio, Ted of Owensboro, Wilbur of Greenville, Harry of Louisville, and Reuben of Bremen; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tapp Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCEY officiating. Burial was in Fairmont cemetery, Henderson.

Everett Rhea PEYTON, 73, died suddenly Friday afternoon in his home in the Dalton section following a heart attack. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Isabelle Wilson Peyton;
three daughters, Mrs. Beryl HUBBARD of Dalton, Mrs. Ira McCOY of Madisonville, and Mrs. Furman LESTER, Evansville; two sons, the Rev. Hughston R. Peyton of Springfield, Tenn., and Harold Peyton, Dalton; five grandsons, four great-grandsons, and four brothers, all of Hopkins county. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dalton Cumberland Presbyterian church, with the Rev. J.P. BRIGHT officiating. Burial was in Prospect cemetery.
