Jerry Lanston MEAZLE, 6-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Meazle of the Hopewell section, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Survivors
besides the parents are a twin brother, Larry Johnston, another brother, McGregory; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis VALENTINE,
Mishawaka, Ind., and Mrs. Becky Meazle, Cairo, Ill.; and great-grandfather, J.W. Valentine, Clay. Brief funeral services were
conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at White Oak by the Rev. R.T. MITCHELL, with burial in White Oak cemetery.

Marshal MEAZEL, 60, died at 11 p.m. Sunday in Cardwell's Clinic as the result of injuries suffered at 6:15 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by an automobile drive by Cleo GUINN. The accident occurred near Duvin mine of Low Moisture Coal Company. According to Policeman Lee SEYMOUR who investigated, Mr. Meazel was walking toward town after his car had stalled and stepped into the path of Mr. Guinn's car, which was headed in the opposite direction, too late for the driver to avoid striking him. Although an attempt was made to stop, Mr. Meazel was dragged some distance and suffered brain concussion and other injuries. No charge has been placed against the drive of the car. Survivors are the wife, Onie; two daughters, Mrs. Dallas BROWN and Mrs. Richard PENROD, Providence; two sons, Archie Meazel, Providence, and Delmer Meazel, who has been with the 77th Division overseas, and is thought to be enroute home from Japan; one sister, Mrs. John LOWERY, Providence; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Primitive Baptist church, with Elder J.D. SHAIN of Madisonville and Elder Gordon HEARON of Clay officiating. Burial was in Cullen cemetery. W.D. (Duff) MEAZLE, 79, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at his home near Dixon. Survivors are the wife, Jennie; three daughters, Mrs. Delmer BROGAN, Dixon; Mrs. Curtis MELTON, Poole; and Mrs. Charles Brogan, Evansville; two sons, W.T. and Courtney Meazle, Dixon; a sister, Miss Nannie Meazle, Clay; a half-sister, Mrs. H.H. RONE, Cape Girardeau MO; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY of Oakland City IN officiating. A.J. (Jack) MELTON, 80, former Poole resident, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday at his home in Henderson. Surviving are the wife, Addie; two
sons, Stanley and James, Henderson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Noah LYNN and Mrs. Robert
WHITLEDGE, Henderson; and a half sister, Mrs. Osborn SUTTON, Poole. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 this afternoon at
the General Baptist Church in Poole, with the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery, Poole.

Byron L. (Sport) MELTON, 52, died suddenly at his home near Dixon at 6 a.m. Thursday following a heart attack. Survivors are the wife, Helen; two daughters, Martha and Donna, at home; a step-daughter, Mrs. J.B. DUCKWORTH, Dixon; two step-sons, William RAY and Harold TOWNSEND, Henderson; his mother, Mrs. Claude Melton of Dixon; four sisters, Mrs. Ford Melton of Corydon, Mrs. M.E. PETTIGO of Louisville, Mrs. J.A. DORIOTT of Henderson, and Mrs. H.G. LEACH, Peoria, Ill.; and a brother, J.T. Melton of Lexington. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE of Poole officiating. Burial was in Fernwood cemetery, Henderson.

Charlie MELTON, 81, former Webster county resident, died Wednesday morning at the Masonic Home in Louisville. Mr. Melton, a retired salesman, was born and reared in Poole. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Lucille Melton, Owensboro, and Miss Hazel Melton, Dayton, Ohio; and two brothers, D.O. and P.A. Melton, Henderson. The body is being returned to Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Clarence MELTON, 48, of Henderson, formerly of Webster County, died Sunday morning in Mt. Vernon, Ind., of a heart attack.
The only survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Lovell SHIELDS and Mrs. Warren HILL, near Clay. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Rev. O.B. CLARK officiating. Burial was in WAGGONER Cemetery in

Mrs. Dorothy MELTON, 46, wife of Rankin Melton, near Poole, died Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Morganfield, after a long
illness. She was an active member of the General Baptist Church in Poole, and also was prominently identified with farm women's
activities in the county. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Sam PURYEAR, Poole; mother, Mrs. Alice CROWLEY,
Poole; two sisters, Mrs. James BARNETT of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Mrs. Ray Lambert WILLIAMS of Poole; two brothers, Forrest
Crowley of Sebree and Buster Crowley of Poole; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Poole General
Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carmon ALBRIGHT and the Rev. Robert FULCHER officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery,

Ernest B. MELTON, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Melton, died at his home in Chicago Thursday after an illness of three years.
Mr. Melton had been employed by the Marshall Field Estate for several years. He was born and reared in Providence and was
connected with the Cumberland Telephone and Telegraph Company as local manager in Providence and Dixon. Later he went
to Leitchfield where he continued with the telephone company. He went from there to Chicago where he made his home for the
past twenty years. He was a Mason and a member of the North Shore Baptist church, Chicago. Survivors are the wife, Dora;
three sons, William of Chicago, Charles of Long Lake, Ill., and Virgil of Richmond, Ind.; two grandchildren, Billy and Jonelle
Melton; three sisters, Mrs. Ann RAMAGE and Mrs. Nola PRICE, Providence, and Miss Lula Melton, Louisville; and one
brother, Allen Melton, Providence. The body was brought to the family home on Cedar street, where funeral services were held
Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Gertrude MELTON, 75, widow of the late Monte Melton, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at her home near Dixon. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elby MOONEY of Dixon, and a son, W.H. Melton of Atlanta, Ga. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lisman Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alfred BENNETT and the Rev. Gaylon PRICE officiating. Burial was in Lisman cemetery.

J.L. (Luther) MELTON, 77, retired farmer, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home near Poole following two years' illness. Survivors are the wife, Clara; six daughters, Mrs. Granville NOLEN, Dixon; Mrs. Roy WILLIAMS, Poole; Mrs. Dorris Melton, Sebree; Mrs. H.C. BUCHANAN, Henderson; Mrs. Nelson SOSH, Uniontown; and Mrs. G.L. CAMPBELL, Corydon; four sons, George and Hodge of Sebree; Wayne and Bill, at home; three brothers, Claud, of Dixon; Ed, of Sebree; and Otha, of Henderson; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the General Baptist Church in Poole, with Robert ADAMSON officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY. John Tom MELTON, 74, died Tuesday morning in his home near Sebree following a stroke suffered Monday afternoon. He had been in ill health for fifteen years. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Beulah FARNSWORTH, Bald Knob, Ark., and Mrs. Mabel PRICE, near Sebree; two brothers, Charles Melton, Clay, and Jim Melton, Sebree; and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Bell TOLLEY, Bald Knob, Ark., and Mrs. Nannie EDWARDS, Clay. The body was taken Tuesday morning to Franklin Funeral Home in Clay and funeral services were held there at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. E.G. SISK of Diamond officiated. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Mrs. Maggie MELTON, who lived in Sebree until a few months ago, died Tuesday night at her home in Bremen, Ind., following a long illness. Survivors are the husband, Roma Melton; four sons, Paul, Alfred, Carmon, and Chester Melton, of Mishawaka, Ind.; and three daughters, Mrs. Lola LOCKRIDGE of Poole, Miss Thelma Melton of Bremen, Ind., and Miss Eula Melton of Evansville. The body will be brought Friday to Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree and remain there until time for the funeral which will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Petersburg church. The Rev. Survivors are two brothers, Ross JENKINS of Detroit, Mich., and Campbell JENKINS of Dixon; and a sister, Mrs. Aileen HARDING, Detroit. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tapp Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY of Dixon officiating. Burial was in Slover cemetery.

Survivors besides Mrs. Poole are another daughter, Mrs. Arnal TAPP, of Poole; two sons, Roy and Lee Edward Melton, of Sebree; three sisters, Mrs. George WATSON, of Clay, Mrs. Guyler SPRINGFIELD, of Sebree, and Mrs. Kate BAILEY, of Conway, Ark.; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. EZELL, Dixon; and three sisters, Mrs. Nellie PARKER, Mrs. Herbert MOSS, and Mrs. G.P. JETER, all of Henderson. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the General Baptist church in Clay, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Burial was in Waggener cemetery. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole. Mr. Melton died July 3 at his home in Poole. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bohon TOWNSEND of Evansville; a son, Carmon Melton, Evansville; three grandchildren; two grand-grandchildren; and a brother, Ed Melton, of Poole.

Surviving besides the parents are four brothers, Mahlon and Herman, of Chandler, Ind., Ralph, of Slaughters, and Harold, at home; and two sisters, Mrs. James MYRICK, Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Perry CARVER, Slaughters. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Onton Methodist church, with the pastor, the Rev. Leslie CHAPMAN, officiating. Burial will be in Onton cemetery. William Jefferson MELTON, 61, died at 7 p.m. Monday at his home near Shady Grove as the result of a fall from a swing on July 7.
He suffered a form of paralysis following the fall. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Ruth HERRON Melton; six sons, John of Detroit,
Mich., Cpl. Thomas Melton and Pfc. James Melton, both of whom are in the overseas service, Cpl. Glen Melton, Ft. Benning, Ga.,
Frank and Cecil, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Lucille KLOSTERMYER, Idaho Springs, Colo., Mrs. Emma MARVEL, Denver,
Colo., Mrs. Shirley TRAVIS and Mrs. Lois SELF, at home; two brothers, John Melton of Blackford, and Clarence Melton of
Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Annie LEET of Shady Grove, Mrs. Ellen DeHAVEN and Mrs. Ollie DeHaven of Blackford; and
eight grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Shady Grove Baptist church with the
Rev. W.E. SIRIA of Madisonville and the Rev. E.G. SISK of Little Zion officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Marjorie Ann MENSER, 91, sister of J.M. PARKER of Providence, died Sunday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Annie Parker in Ilsley. She had a total of 171 descendants. Surviving are three sons, Silas, Lester, and Lee Menser; four daughters, Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Bertha ALEXANDER, Mrs. Ila LANTRIP, and Mrs. Minnie RILEY, near Dawson Springs; the brother; 49 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 66 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ilsley Holiness Church.

Joseph M. MERRITT, 82, of Caseyville, former Webster county resident, died Tuesday morning. Surviving are the wife, Sarah; four daughters, Mrs. Hogue PIERSON, and Mrs. Rudd HEINE of Caseyville, Mrs. SALES of Dekoven, and Mrs. Ike EAKINS of Evansville; two sons, Joseph A. of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Robert of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Lucy THRELKELD of Princeton; one brother, Jim of Sturgis; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Caseyville Methodist Church, with the Rev. William CHAMBLISS officiating. Burial was in Caseyville cemetery. Barry Lee MESSAMORE, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Messamore, of Providence, was stillborn Sunday morning in an Evansville hospital. Surviving besides the parents are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra McDOWELL and Mrs. George Messamore, Providence. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Tapp Funeral Home, with the Rev. S.R. GILLIAM officiating, and burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Mrs. Messamore, who has been in a serious condition, is reported to be improving.

George B. MESSAMORE, 51, died suddenly Tuesday morning of a heart attack in his home on Langley avenue. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Alma E. Messamore, who was brought home following his death from an Evansville hospital where she had been a patient for a month with a broken hip; a son, Jewell Messamore; a daughter, Mrs. Vent PHELPS; a granddaughter, Frankie Allen Phelps, all of Providence; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Angie Messamore, Cave City, whose husband, Sgt. Jesse Messamore, was killed in action in February 1945; and three sisters, two of whom live in California and one in Wickliffe. Funeral services were to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Second Baptist church, with the Rev. W.T. CRUMBAKER of Madisonville officiating. Burial was to be in Lakeview cemetery. Charles Edward METZ, 76, retired barber who formerly lived in Clay, died Thursday at his home in Marion. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Rudell McKINNEY of Marion; sisters, Mrs. Doc NEWCOM and Mrs. Bob CORLEY of Marion, Mrs. Taylor LUCAS of Evansville, Mrs. F.W. MOORE of Blackford, and Mrs. Machen WILSON of Colorado; brothers, Ferd of Marion, and Henry of Alamo, Tex.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. W.L. BAKER officiating. Burial was in Pythian Ridge cemetery, Sturgis.
