Mrs. Caskie HOBGOOD, 78, who formerly lived in Madisonville, died Thursday in Frankfort where she made her home with her daughter. She was a sister of the late Jeff WILSON and was well known in Providence. She was the aunt of Mrs. Gill Wilson, Miss Martha Alice Wilson, and J.A. COWAN of Providence. Funeral and burial were in Madisonville Saturday.

Ernest HOBGOOD, 70, died suddenly at 12:30 a.m. Saturday at his home in Sebree. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Surviving are the wife, Lillian; a foster daughter, Carolyn Sue; two sisters, Mrs. John STEVENS of Madisonville and Mrs. Ora DEVERS of St. Louis, Mo. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pentecostal Mission in Sebree, with the Rev. Ed TODD of Evansville officiating, assisted by the Rev. William COLLINS of Sebree. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, June 4, 1953. Compiler's note: Lillian Hobgood, 1898-1981, is buried next to Ernest Hobgood, 1883-1953, in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
Mrs. K.P. HOBGOOD, Princeton, mother of Mrs. B.C. LANGLEY of Providence, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the hospital in Princeton after suffering a stroke early that morning at her home. She had been ill for sometime as result of strokes. Surviving besides Mrs. Langley are the husband; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Hobgood, Princeton, Mrs. Lizzie STODGHILL and Mrs. Nola WILSON, Rayville, La.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Morgan Funeral Home in Princeton, with burial in Princeton cemetery.

Miss Mima Elizabeth HOBGOOD, 73, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at her home near Slaughters. Surviving are three sisters, Miss Fannie Hobgood, near Slaughters, Mrs. Mary MOORE of Evansville, and Mrs. Sarah A. CATES, Dixon; a brother, J.G. Hobgood, Nebo; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mt. Gilead Church, with the Rev. Johnnie WILSON of Sacramento officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead cemetery.

William Henry HODGE, 72, of Corydon, former Providence resident, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, July 4, enroute to Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Surviving are the wife, Myrtle; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth POWELL of Corydon and Mrs. Lilly HORN of Evansville; three sons, Woodrow of Corydon, Ad Young of Sturgis, and Edd of Evansville; two sisters, Mrs. T.H. WATSON of Providence and Mrs. William COLDWELL of Evansville; two brothers, John of Harrisburg, Ill., and Lynn of Pasadena, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the Baptist Church in Corydon, with the Rev. Robert E. HAIRE officiating. Burial was in the Corydon cemetery. Compiler's note: William Henry Hodge, Jan 1, 1882-July 4, 1954 and Myrtle Christine Hodge, Jan 29,1883-Oct 22, 1971, are both buried in Corydon Cemetery in Henderson County.
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Ann HOGAN, 81, were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday of last week at Morganfield Pentecostal church. The Rev. Ora EVANS of Henderson officiated and burial was in the Bordley cemetery. Mrs. Hogan died the previous Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Joe JONES, near Morganfield. Besides Mrs. Jones, survivors are daughters, Mrs. Viola CLAXTON, Providence, and Mrs. Ora RAMSEY, Herrin, Ill.; sons, Frank of Clay, D.L. of Henshaw, and the Rev. Hubby Hogan, Morganfield; and a half-sister, Mrs. Florence GOBIN, Providence.

Mrs. Dora HOKET, 76, wife of the late James Hoket, died Tuesday morning in a hospital in Granite City, Ill. Mrs. Hoket, who was born and reared in this county, lived here until she went to Granite City to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hayden HARRALSON. She was a member of First Presbyterian church in Providence. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Oma HODGE of Louisville, Mrs. Cardwell RAMSEY of Eddyville, and Mrs. Harralson; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body was brought Wednesday night to Melton Funeral Home and will be there until funeral services which are planned for 1 o'clock this afternoon in First Presbyterian church in Providence. The Rev. Arthur FREET will officiate. Burial will be in Lisman cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, October 4, 1951.
Ross William HOKET, 79, promiment farmer, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday at his home in the Corinth section near Providence, following several months' illness. A native of Webster county, he was a son of the late John and Martha Hoket, pioneer Webster county residents. He was married on October 9, 1897 to Miss Maggie Martin. Surviving besides the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Porter COLE, Providence, and Mrs. Royce LADD, Russellville; a son, J.D. Hoket, Dayton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Minnie WELDON, Providence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leamon WINSTEAD of Owensboro officiating, assisted by the Rev. Porter Cole of Providence. Burial was in Corinth cemetery.

Mrs. Louise HOLEMAN, 85, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the home of her son, Finis Holeman, near Dixon. survivors are four other sons, Arthur of Ft. Myers, Fla., David of Robards, Noble of Evansville, and Bryant of Onton; three daughters, Mrs. Nora ALLEN, Evansville, Mrs. Emma TODD, Page, W. Va., and Mrs. Ada KEY, Dixon; and forty-two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Grove church, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY of Dixon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Georgia BLACKBURN HOLLAND, 51, of Clay, died at 8 p.m. Monday in Sturgis Hospital following several weeks' illness. Mrs.
Holland had been in business in Clay for the past ten years as owner and operator of the Holland Beauty Shop. She was a member
of First Baptist Church in Clay. Surviving are the husband, C.E. Holland; a daughter, Mrs. Jack WICKS of Sturgis; a son, James
W. Holland of Clay; three grandchildren; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Blackburn, Sr., Clay; two sisters, Mrs. Amerson HINTON of
Madisonville and Miss Sue Blackburn of Clay; and two brothers, Rupert Blackburn of Chicago and W.E. Blackburn, Jr., of Clay.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clay First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Truett MILLER of Morganfield, former
pastor, the Rev. James F. OERTWIG, pastor, and the Rev. C.E. DANIEL officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Clay. Places

H.M. HOLLAND, 98, father of S.K. Holland, former Providence resident,
died suddenly Friday at his home near Benton. He and Mrs. Holland,
who is 80, observed their seventy-fifth wedding anniversary on Nov.
13. Survivors besides the widow are five sons, S.K., Lexington, W.H.,
McKenzie, Tenn., J.G., Cairo, Ill., Marvin and M.H. Holland, Benton; a
daughter, Mrs. T.W. B. DEMAREE, Altedene, Calif.; twenty-six
grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Funeral and

Willie D. HOLLAND, 52, husband of the former Miss Mayme EAST, formerly of Providence, died Sunday, July 4, in Delray Hospital, Detroit, after a brief illness following a heart attack. He was a native of Tennessee and had lived in Detroit since 1925. Funeral and burial were held in Waverly, Tenn., with Masons in charge. Besides the wife he is survived by a stepson, Reginald D. CHILDERS; his mother, Mrs. Dora Holland of Waverly, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. Susie DAVIS of Waverly, Mrs. Hallie GUNN of McEwen, Tenn., and his twin sister, Mrs. Lillie Davis of New Deal, Tex., and one brother, Oval Holland of Fulton.

Mrs. Alice Virginia ARMSTRONG HOLLOMAN, 72, died at her home Tuesday
afternoon as the result of a stroke which she suffered ten days
earlier at the home of her son in Evansville. She was brought here
last week. Mrs. Holloman was the widow of the late J.O. Holloman, who
died three years ago. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lorene VARVEL,
Providence; two sons, R.C. and Neal C. Holloman, Evansville; two
grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emma WALLACE, Providence; and one
brother, Frank Armstrong, Providence. Funeral services were held at 2
p.m. Wednesday at the home, with the Rev. J.R. KING of Blackford
officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery.

James Carl HOLLOMAN, 61, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday at his home on Barrett street following a long illness. He had been employed as a miner. Surviving are the wife, Chloe; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Ann RAY, Providence; four sons, Harold, Raymond and Roy, Providence, and Robert of Morganfield; four sisters, Mrs. Eulon SIGLER of Providence, Mrs. E.H. THOMAS of Evansville, Mrs. Raymond DORRIS and Mrs. James LAWSON of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Holloman, of Detroit. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank MITCHELL of Sullivan and the Rev. James L. DIAL officiating. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery.

Leamon HOLMES, 51, was killed instantly Saturday morning when a tractor he was operating overturned into a deep ditch, pinning him beneath it. The accident occurred on the Tobe WATSON farm, near Dixon. Surviving are the wife, Gertha; two daughters, Mrs. J.D. HILL and Mrs. Henry PUCKETT, Dixon; a son, Crystal Lee, of Clay; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Holmes, Dixon rural route; brother, Robert, ot Dixon; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dixon mission, with the Rev. Morris VANDIVER, of Henderson, officiating. Burial was in Little Zion cemetery.

Raymond Douglas HOLMES, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Holmes, Evansville, died in St. Mary's Hospital two hours after birth on Aug. 20. Survivors besides the parents are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holmes, Dixon, and Mrs. and Mrs. G.W. GIBSON, near Dixon. Funeral and burial were in Evansville.

Mrs. Dannie HOLT, 55, of Farmington, formerly of Providence, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the Murray Hospital following a cerebral hemorrhage which she suffered Wednesday. Mrs. Holt, who moved from Providence to Farmington seventeen years ago, had been in ill health since last July. Surviving are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Charles GRANT of Farmington; two granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Kate JOHNSON of Madisonville and Mrs. Annie Moore BROWN of Evansville; and four brothers, Pratt DAVES of Providence, Cromer Daves of Detroit, Mich., Roy and Clyde Daves of Dalton. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Farmington First Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. THOMAS of Alabama, former pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was in Farmington cemetery.

Mrs. Georgia Angeline HOLT, 69, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at her home
in the Gum Grove section following an illness of eighteen months of a
heart ailment. Mrs. Holt was a member of Gum Grove church. She was
the last of a family including her parents, six sisters, and two
brothers. Surviving are the husband, S.T. Holt; two sons, Dannie of
Farmington, and Roland Holt of St. Louis; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence
KELLER, Providence; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A
son, Jimmie Holt and a daughter, Mrs. Carrie Mae HERRIN, preceded
their mother in death. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m.
at White Oak church, with the Rev. Charlie HOWARD of Henderson in
charge. Pallbearers were Edgar TANDY, the Rev. Oscar DUNCAN, Lawson
CROOK, Jimmie KIRKWOOD, Charles GRANT, and Lee PIERCY. Flower bearers
were Mrs. Eldon BLACKWELL, Mrs. Lorene Tandy, Mrs. Joe THOMAS, Mrs.
Alta SIGLER, Mrs. Dorothy BABB, Mrs. George HANOR, Misses Margaret
FREEMAN, Lou Gore Sigler, and Wilma Hanor. Burial was in White Oak

Mrs. Nellie HOOCK, 50, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., formerly of Providence, died at 4 a.m. Sunday in a Ft. Wayne hospital after an illness of several months. Mrs. Hoock, who was reared here, was a daughter of the late H.A. and Naomi EDMONSON. She was a member of the Lutheran church in Ft. Wayne. Survivors are the husband, Carl Hoock; three sisters, Mrs. Ed VAUGHN, of Clay, Mrs. Wayne WALLACE, of Paducah, and Mrs. W.H. BLAINE, of Providence; and five brothers, James Edmonson, of Providence, Woodrow Edmonson, of St. Louis, Mo., Sgt. Gordon Edmonson, U.S. Army, Elmer Edmonson, of Pasco, Wash., and Jess Edmonson, Benton City, Wash. The body was brought here to Melton Funeral Home where funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. E.G. SISK officiated, assisted by the Rev. Albert KEMP. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery.

Walter L. HOOE, 60, prominent Providence business man, was found dead Monday evening in his room in a motel in Nashville, Tenn. Death was attributed to a heart attack and was thought to have occurred several hours earlier. Mr. Hooe, born March 7, 1894 in Henderson, came to Providence in 1914 and was employed by his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. HAMILTON, who operated Hamilton Furniture Company. In 1918 he and Mrs. Hooe purchased the store and continued the business under its original name. He was married November 4, 1915 to Miss Mattie CULLEN. In addition to the store here at various times he had operated furniture stores in other towns including Morganfield, Henderson, Sturgis, Princeton, Central City, and Madisonville. Other business interests included the International Harvester agency, partnership with the late B.C. COX in a mattress factory, and farming. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a former Kiwanis Club member. He was a member of the Providence board of education for several years and served as chairman. Surviving are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. H.D. WHITFIELD and Mrs. John L. BENJAMIN, Providence; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Hamilton of Evansville, Mrs. Mae ANDERSON of Newburgh, Ind., and Mrs. Katherine NICHOLS of South Bend, Ind.; and four brothers, Irvin of Evansville, Charles R. of Maryland, Owen and Harry of California. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the home on Cedar Street, with Elder J.D. SHAIN of Madisonville officiating, assisted by the Rev. R.T. MILLER. Burial was in Cullen cemetery. Mrs. Clidena HOOVER, 73, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jack COWIAN, in Sebree. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J.B. ARMES of Mayfield and Mrs. Cowian; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree, with the Rev. Fred GLOVER officiating. Nephews were pallbearers. Burial was in Oakley Home cemetery.

Miss Alice HOPGOOD, 63, died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at the home of her sister, Mrs. D.W. BROWN, in Slaughters. Surviving besides Mrs. Brown are another sister, Miss Queen Hopgood, Slaughters; two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Gilead Church, with the Rev. W.T. ANDERSON of Madisonville officiating. Burial was in the Hopgood family cemetery.

Mrs. Audie May HOPPER, 64, wife of Charles J. Hopper, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in her home on Church street. She was a daughter of the late Joe and Phenie HALL. Surviving besides the husband are a sister, Mrs. Eurie TODD, Providence rural route; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Nephews were pallbearers.

Lawson HOPPER, 66, former Wheatcroft man, who had lived in Evansville
for a short time, died Tuesday in an Evansville hospital of injuries
suffered when he was struck by a car last Friday night. Mr. Hopper
received a fractured skull, head cuts, side injury, and rib fractures
when he was said to have stepped into the path of a car driven by
Marshall MERVEL on Main street in Evansville. Survivors are a
daughter, Mrs. Clint LAMB, Clay; a son, Henry Hopper, Detroit, Mich.;
a sister, Mrs. Lura KEMP, Sturgis; and four brothers, Charlie,
Providence, Houston, of Clay, George, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Dutch
Hopper, of Evansville. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m.
today in Franklin Funeral home in Clay, with the Rev. Truitt MILLER
officiating. Burial was to be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.
