Mrs. Mamie DAILEY, 63, of Providence, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in an Evansville hospital. Surviving are the husband, Sterling; a daughter, Mrs. Marlin VILLINES, Providence; two sisters, Mrs. Paul JOHNSON, South Whitney, Ind., and Mrs. Finnie LOFTON, Providence; and three brothers, William McINTOSH of West Frankfort, Ill., Roy McIntosh, Chicago, Ill., and Wade McIntosh, address unknown. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home in Providence, with the Rev. Archie OLIVER, pastor of Diamond Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery. William T. DANIEL, 84, former Webster county resident, died in Owensboro at noon Monday in the home of a son, W.E. Daniel, member of the Owensboro Messenger editorial staff. A native of Rutherford county, Tennessee, he came to Kentucky in 1878, and lived in Webster county until his removal to Owensboro in April, 1942. Survivors are another son, William H. Daniel, Poole; two daughters, Miss Hattie Daniel, Owensboro, and Mrs. F.G. WOMACK, Poole; seven grandsons and seven granddaughters; a brother, S.L. Daniel, Slaughters; and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy CARVER, Slaughters and Mrs. Mary ASHBY, Evansville. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the General Baptist church in Poole, with Dr. R.H. WADE, pastor of Settle Memorial Methodist church, Owensboro, officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, February 14, 1946.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Jean DANIELS, 77, Slaughters Route 2, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Baptist Church in Slaughters. The Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiated, assisted by the Rev. Riley GROVES. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery. Mrs. Daniels died Tuesday, February 16, at her home following an illness of several weeks. She was the widow of Lee Daniels who died three years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rob QUALLS, Henderson; four sons, Arthur Daniels of Slaughters, Cosby, Miller Edward and Elder Daniels, of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry ANDERSON and Joe Anderson of Dixon. Jim DARE, 69, died at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home near the Dorris cemetery. His wife, Laura, is the only survivor. A brief funeral service was conducted at 2:30 Monday afternoon at Cullen cemetery, with the Rev. W.T. WINSTEAD officiating, with burial there. George P. DARR, 79, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at his home in Henderson. He was a former Poole resident. Survivors are two daughters, Ruby ABELL and Mrs. Jim MORRIS; two sons, Ben and Hubert Darr, all of Henderson; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, C.H., Evansville; J.T. and L.D. of Poole; and one sister, Mrs. Belle LAND, Carmi IL. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the General Baptist Church in Poole, with the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery, Poole. John Thomas DARR, 63, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday at his home in Poole. Surviving are the wife, Nola; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Ellen JEWEL, Georgia and Jean, of Poole; three sons, Shirley, of Henderson, Thornton and Jewell, of Poole; a grandson; two brothers, Luther, of Poole, and Charley, of Evansville; and a sister, Mrs. Belle LADD, of Carmi, Ill. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Poole General Baptist church, with the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE and the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY officiating. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus DAUGHERTY, stillborn Tuesday afternoon at their home on West Main, was buried Wednesday afternoon at Browder cemetery in Hopkins county. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, June 9, 1955.

Dr. Edward DAVENPORT, 60, practicing physician in Providence for two years from 1936 to 1938, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at his home in Hopkinsville two hours after suffering a heart attack. Dr. Davenport had been clinical director of Western State Hospital since leaving here. Before coming to Providence he served for fourteen years as superintendent of Eastern State Hospital at Lakeland. He was a native of Crittenden county, and was a graduate of the old School of Medicine of the University of Louisville. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lemah THRELKELD Davenport; and a brother, Mont Davenport of Marion. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist church in Hopkinsville. Burial was in Marion. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, August 24, 1944.

George Edward DAVID, 75, of Providence, died Thursday in an Evansville hospital where he had been a patient for a day and night. He suffered a stroke three months ago and had been at the home of a daughter in Evansville since that time. His wife, the former Miss Betty MONTGOMERY, died a number of years ago following an automobile accident. Surviving are five daughters, Miss Ruth David, Mrs. Flonnie BELT, Mrs. Newman WILSON, and Miss Helen David, of Evansville, and Mrs. Laura HEARON of Clay; two sons, Bayne of Evansville, and Hubert, in Japan with the U.S. Army; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating, assisted by the Rev. Truett MILLER. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery. Son Bain David, 25 May 1920-5 Sep 1980 is also buried with them.

Mrs. Virginia DAVID, 59, formerly of Webster county, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, July 11, at her home in Uniontown following a long illness. Surviving are the husband, Percy David; four daughters, Mrs. Gordon ASHBY and Miss Loretta David, of Uniontown, Mrs. Leonard LITTLE of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Marguerite COULSON of Tucson, Ariz.; one son, Briscoe David of Henderson; four sisters, Mrs. Euell TRAYLOR and Mrs. S.G. BOTTS, Clay rural route, Mrs. John VILLINES, near Dixon, and Mrs. Jess T. MILLS of Morganfield; one brother, Harlan HOLT of Madisonville; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Uniontown Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.H. BRATCHER officiating. Burial was in Uniontown cemetery. Mrs. Delle WATSON DAVIS, 70, wife of Dr. M.M. Davis, died at 2 p.m. Thursday at her home in Clay following several months' illness. Mrs. Davis had spent her entire life in Clay and was well known. She had been a devoted member of the First Baptist church there for more than fifty-two years. She served as president of the Woman's Missionary Society of the church for several years, was the first president of Clay Woman's Club, was president of the Parent-Teacher Association for several years, had served as president of the Mothers' Club, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Dr. and Mrs. Davis celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Nov. 29, 1950. Surviving are the husband; three daughters, Mrs. T.R. POWELL of Clay, Mrs. Olva LINDLE of Henderson, and Mrs. J.C. STEWART of Lexington; a son, Jimmy Davis of Evansville; four grandchildren; one brother, T.K. Watson of Clay; and one sister, Mrs. Lura HARDWICK of Mt. Vernon, Ind. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Clay First Baptist church with Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. G.R. ABERNATHY. Pallbearers were H.O. BELT, N.C. HAMMACK, N.B. WALLACE, Dr. E.W. ATHERTON, H.Z. CLARK, and W.A. LOFTEN. Flower bearers were members of the Eastern Star and members of the Builders Sunday School class. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, June 28, 1951. Compiler's note: Dr. Morris M. Davis, born 1876, buried Nov 3, 1956, is buried next to his wife Della N. Davis, born 1880, buried Jul 14, 1951, in Clay I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Buried there as well is a son, Will Thomas Davis, born 1908, buried Nov 1, 1915. Either the date of Della Davis' obituary is in error or her tombstone reading is in error.

Mrs. Dora Frances DAVIS, 58, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday in Cardwell's Clinic in Providence where she had been a patient for several days. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Dixon. Surviving are the husband, Grover; stepson, Edward Davis, New Albany, Ind.; and a brother, Will BLAINE, Providence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tapp Funeral Home in Providence, with the Rev. J.R. RANDOLPH of Sturgis officiating. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery, Providence. Miss Dortha DAVIS, 21, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Davis, former Providence residents, died Friday, Nov. 16, at the home of her parents at Franklin. She was employed as government typist at Dayton, Ohio, and Charlestown, Ind., until ill health caused her to resign. Besides the parents, survivors are one sister, Mrs. B.M. BROWN, Chillicothe, Ohio; and one brother, T-Sgt. Harry Davis, Columbus, S.C. Funeral services were the following Sunday with the Rev. H.C. OGLES, pastor of Franklin Methodist church in charge, and burial was in Green Lawn cemetery there. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, November 29, 1945.

Homer Melton DAVIS, 72, retired farmer, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday at his home in Providence after an illness of several months. Son of the late Thomas and Nanie Davis, he was born in Webster county. He was a member of Green Grove Baptist church. Surviving are the wife, the former Miss Lula May WILLIAMS; five daughters, Mrs. Lillian CLEVENGER and Mrs. Pauline DUNCAN, Providence, Mrs. Eddie Pearl KRANTZ of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Minnie BAKER of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Mrs. Wilma Dean BAKER of Princeton; eight sons, Harold, Clyde, Denver, James and Elgin of Providence, Atrice, Paul and Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; 30 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Sallie LEEPER of Providence, Mrs. Estell STONE of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Blanch HILL, Providence rural route. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Green Grove church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.E. SIRIA of Madisonville. Shaler C. DAVIS, 68, was found dead Friday where he had been shoveling snow at his home in Dixon. Death was attributed to a heart attack brought on by exertion. He had suffered previous attacks. His wife died in December 1957. The only survivors are a half-brother, Floyd Davis of Marion IN; a brother-in-law, Jesse HEDRICK, who lived with Mr. Davis; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dora SELBY, Leachville, Arkansas. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Tapp Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Don MELTON officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. William Edward DAVIS, 74, retired farmer, died Thursday at his home in Dalton. Surviving are the wife, Lucy; two brothers, Joe and Kenneth, of Caldwell county; a step-daughter, Mrs. J.R. VILLINES of Caldwell county; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Quinn church, with the Rev. Carroll YARBROUGH of Princeton officiating. Burial was in the cemetery at Shady Grove. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, June 4, 1953.

Mrs. Annie DAY, 84, died Friday morning at her home in Slaughters. She had been ill for several years and had been bedfast for the past year. She was also blind, but remained cheerful in spite of her suffering. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Houston RICKARD, Hanson rural route; two sons, Sam and Noah NEWTON of Slaughters; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ida CHILDERS, Providence, Mrs. Van PRICE of Dixon, and Mrs. Florence POLLEY, Nebo; and half-brothers, Bail WINSTEAD of Slaughters, and Henry Winstead of Sebree; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Slaughters Baptist church, with the Rev. Claud COLE officiating. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery. Henry Clay DAY, 88, Sebree, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Finis LITTLEPAGE, in Henderson. He is survived by a brother, J.P. Day, of Madisonville. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Sebree, with the Rev. O.W. LASATER officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree. H.M. DAY, 49, of Mishawaka, Ind., who was born and reared in Webster county, died at 7 p.m. Thursday at the home of his sister, Mrs. D.C. CAVANAH, in Madisonville. Survivors are the wife, the former Ruth VILLINES; a daughter, Diann; father, J.P. Day, Madisonville; brother, B.F. Day, Philadelphia, Pa.; and sister, Mrs. Cavanah. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist church in Madisonville, with the pastor, the Rev. Harold D. TALLANT, officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Madisonville. Mrs. Eva DEAN, 78, of Shady Grove, died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sylvia DAVIS, in Evansville. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Davis of Evansville; Mrs. Mary MURPHY of Lewisport TN; Mrs. Eva Mae PHILLIPS of Alton IL; Mrs. Margaret GOODAKER of Owensboro; and Mrs. Virginia DURANT of Indianapolis, IN; and one son, Edward Dean of Evansville. Two children, Velma and Alfred, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Sugar Grove Church, of which she had been a member for 68 years. The pastor, the Rev. Paul BELT, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, May 15, 1958.

Mrs. Annie Laura DEERING, 76, of Sebree, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday in an Evansville hospital. Survivors are the husband, J.L. Deering; five sons, William of Mounds, Ill., Leslie, Charles and Robert of Evansville, and Kenneth, Sebree; four sisters; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree, with the Rev. Goebel PHILLIPS of Evansville and the Rev. Paul LOGSDON of Sebree officiating. Mrs. Ellen MELTON DeHAVEN, 74, wife of J.T. DeHaven, died at her home near Blackford at 4 a.m. Saturday of a heart ailment. She had been ill for several weeks. Mrs. DeHaven was born near Poole, and had lived near Blackford for the past thirty-seven years. She was a member of the Blackford Baptist church, and was an active member until ill health prevented her attendance. Survivors are the husband; five daughters, Mrs. Fred BRANTLEY, Evansville, Mrs. Hobart GARDNER, Providence, Mrs. Marshall LANSDALE, Louisville, Jennie and Sally DeHaven of Blackford; three sons, Lt. Col. W.D. DeHaven, Washington, D.C., Walter DeHaven, Evansville, and Earl DeHaven of Blackford; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. W.M. DeHaven, Blackford, and Mrs. S.O. LEET, Shady Grove; and two brothers, Clarence Melton, Detroit, Mich., and John Melton of Blackford. A son, Harry DeHaven, preceded his mother in death. Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Blackford Baptist church, with the Rev. N.B. SIZEMORE officiating, assisted by the Rev. E.G. SISK and the Rev. J.R. KELLEY. Pallbearers were Francis MONTGOMERY, Wilbur HORNING, Dick OMER, Archie WHITE, S-Sgt. F.W. MOORE, and V.G. WAGGENER. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Mrs. Ollie M. DeHAVEN, 81, widow of William DeHaven, died at 3 a.m. Monday at her home in Blackford after a lingering illness. She was born in Webster county, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson MELTON. She was a charter member of Enon General Baptist church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Oscar LEET, Blackford; two brothers, John Melton, Blackford, and Clarence Melton, Detroit, Mich.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the Blackford Baptist church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.M. FRISBY of Providence officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, near Blackford. Mrs. Cassie DEMING, 71, died at her home here Monday at 1:20 a.m. following an illness of six weeks. Survivors are the husband, Abe; two sons, Clay and Zeke Deming, Providence; three brothers, Bun MOLTON, Marion, Ill., George Molton, Herrin, Ill., and Johnnie Molton, Cartersville, Ill.; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Tapp Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie HOWARD of Henderson officiating. Burial was in White Oak cemetery. Charlie Andrew DENNY, 46, of Clay, was killed at 4:15 Tuesday afternoon in an accident at Fletcher and Woodring repair shop near Hart and Hart tipple in Providence. Mr. Denny was a mechanic for Fletcher and Woodring, firm under contract to haul coal from Hart and Hart mine to the tipple. He was replacing a spring on which the truck body rides on the right rear side, and the steel part of the truck body was jacked up. Apparently in handling the old spring he caused the jack to slip, the truck body fell, and Mr. Denny's head was caught between the top of the tire and the truck bed. His head was crushed and he died instantly. Surviving are the wife, Ardrew; Mrs. Leon WOOD of Providence, who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Denny; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Denny of DeKoven; three sisters, Mrs. Clyde DeHAVEN, near Clay, Mrs. Pat LYNN of Uniontown, and Mrs. Allen OMER of Caseyville; and three brothers, Realus of Morganfield, Russell of Evansville, and Valley of DeKoven. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the General Baptist church in Clay, with the Rev. Bob WALLACE of Wheatcroft officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Clay. Charles DEVINE, 74, of Corydon, former Webster county resident, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in Methodist Hospital in Henderson. He was admitted to the hospital Monday night. Surviving are a son, Thurman, and a daughter, Frances, both of Corydon; three brothers, Thomas E., of Morganfield, Clay of Merrides, Tex., and W.L. Devine of Evansville, former Webster county jailer; five sisters, Mrs. Lucy LYNN of Clay, Mrs. Ethel HESS and Mrs. A.V. BAKER of Wheatcroft, Mrs. O.T. CLARK of Owensboro, and Mrs. T.J. CAIN of Gillespie, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Rev. Ira CRENSHAW officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery at Boxville. John Thomas DEVINE, 95, grandfather of Mrs. H.F. BALL of Clay, died Sunday at the home of a son, Edgar, near Morganfield. He is survived by another son, King, of Avondale, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Nannie McMURRY, La Junta, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pride Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.S. BRATCHER officiating. Burial was in Boxville cemetery. R.L. DICKERSON, 79, died at 11 a.m. Thursday at his home on Slaughters rural route. Surviving are the wife, Jocie Embree Dickerson; two sons, Robert E., of Louisville, and Ralph H., at home; two daughters, Mrs. Emorett BEST, of Newburgh, Ind., and Mrs. Rudolph MOECK, of Evansville; a brother, Art Dickerson, of Hopkinsville; two sisters, Mrs. Roxie CISNA, of Slaughters, and Mrs. Mary T. STONE, of Little Rock, Ark.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sassafras Grove church, with the Rev. Paul ROYSTER officiating. Mrs. Rosa Lee DICKERSON, 80, of Henderson, formerly of Slaughters, died Sunday at her home after a lingering illness. She was a member of Zion Brick Church near Slaughters. Surviving are the husband, James T. Dickerson; two sons, Whitsell of New Orleans, La., and L.J. Dickerson of Henderson; a daughter, Mrs. Alma Mae CLARK; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Ben HAWKINS of Slaughters was a niece. Funeral services were held in Bennett Memorial Methodist Church in Henderson, with burial in Slaughters cemetery. W.C. DIERCK, 84, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, at the home of Roy MALONE of Diamond after several weeks' illness. Surviving are one sister, Miss Carrie Dierck of Burlington, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay, with Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Tim DILBACK, 54, of Wheatcroft, a veteran of World War I, died Sunday morning in Hines Hospital in Chicago, Ill. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Willie Dilback; a stepson, J.C. SMITH; two sisters, Mrs. Bob MARTIN of Wheatcroft and Mrs. Mary Allen BRUCE of Kansas; and three brothers, Henry of Wheatcroft, Claudie and Clarence of Sturgis. John Mark DILBECK, 81, died suddenly Saturday morning at his home in Blackford. He had been in ill health for several years. He was a retired I.C. railroad foreman and had been a member of the Masonic lodge for fifty-one years. He received his fifty-year pin in March 1948. He had served as master of the lodge for fifteen terms. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Kate Dilbeck; two daughters, Mrs. William MAY, Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Boyce HUBBARD, Sheffield, Ala.; two sons, Carl, of Raleigh, Ill., and Earl, of Uniontown; four sisters, Mrs. Fannie CUMMINGS, of Harrisburg, Ill., Mrs. Margaret MARTIN and Miss Emily Dilbeck, of Blackford, and Mrs. Willie BURRIS, of Madisonville; and one brother, Elgin Dilbeck, of Harrisburg, Ill. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Blackford at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. J.R. KING officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, with Masonic rites conducted at the grave. Willie Clarence DILLBACK, 66, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday of a heart attack at his home in Wheatcroft. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Everett LANGSTON of Wheatcroft; a son, Clarence G. of Melvindale, Mich.; a stepson, Roy POINDEXTER of Detroit, Mich.; half-sister, Mrs. Frances EDDINGS of Melvindale; half-brother, Emmett GILBERT of Dixon; and one grandchild. The body is at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Rock Springs Church, with the Rev. Raymond HAZEL of Wheatcroft officiating. Mrs. Nancy Louisa DILLS, 80, died at 8 p.m. Saturday at her home in the White Oak section. She had been in declining health for several years. Survivors are the husband, Ben Dills, and one son, John Dills, at home. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at Hopewell church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Diamond officiating. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, October 28, 1948.

Roberta Yvonne DILLS, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Dills, died Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in an Evansville hospital of burns received at her home on Lake street Friday afternoon. The child's dress caught fire from an open grate and she ran from the house. She suffered severe body burns before her mother could catch her and smother the flames. Mrs. Dills' hands were badly burned. Survivors besides the parents, are four sisters, Betty Jean, Eva Lou, Nellie Florence, and Patty Jean, and a brother, William Edward, all at home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Christ Temple church, with the Rev. Herbert HOGET, of Morganfield officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. William H. DILLS, 84, retired farmer, died at 3 p.m. Friday at his home in Providence. Only survivor is a son, Johnie Joseph Dills, Providence. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Melton Funeral Home, with Elder Gordon HERRON of Clay officiating. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery. Mrs. Clora DIXON, 42, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. L.L. TODD, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville as the result of burns suffered at 8 a.m. when a gas water heater exploded at her home near Slaughters. Survivors are the husband, James; two daughters, Mrs. Paul TOMPKINS and Mrs. Hayden VANDYGRIFF, Evansville; six sisters, Mrs. Joe Tompkins, Mrs. Raymond HOBGOOD, and Mrs. Clifton DORRIS, of Evansville, Mrs. Jack ROACH, Mrs. R.T. NANCE, and Mrs. Wade MARKS, of Slaughters; six brothers, S.E. and John Todd, of Henderson, Edgar and I.H. Todd, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., E.B. and L.O. Todd, of Madisonville; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Dixon, one of thirteen children, was the first to die. Both parents died last year in their early nineties. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Mt. Gilead church, with the Rev. Johnnie WILSON, of Hanson, officiating. burial will be in Slaughters cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, May 11, 1950.

Miss Georgia DIXON, 51, former Poole resident, died Saturday in Methodist Hospital in Henderson. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lelia Dixon, Henderson. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ in Poole, of which she was a lifelong member, with Robert ADAMSON in charge. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, February 23, 1950. Compiler's note: Lela Dixon, 1877-1954, is buried with her daughter Georgia in Shady Grove Cemetery. Lela's husband and Georgia's father, William C. Dixon, 1967-1947, is buried there as well. His obituary is included in this collection.

Guy O. DIXON, 68, died Sunday at his home near Sebree. Surviving are the wife, Birdie; two daughters, Mrs. Leo HOLLIEN and Miss Mary Frances Dixon, of Houston, Tex.; and four sons, Ralph, Embry, and Vernon, of Houston, and Charles, at home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Poole, with Robert ADAMSON officiating. Burial was in Fairmont cemetery, Henderson. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, January 12, 1950.

Mrs. Lula May DIXON, 62, widow of Robert Dixon, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at her home near Dixon. Surviving are two brothers, Will MITCHELL, Dyess, Ark., and Jesse Mitchell, Evansville; and two sisters, Mrs. Clyde OAKLEY, Providence, and Miss Effie Mitchell, near Dixon. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Vandersburg church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK officiating. Burial was in Townsend cemetery. Sherman DIXON, 69, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the home of a son, Ray, near Corydon. Survivors are five daughters, Arnett of Corydon, Mrs. Stanley NELSON of Dixon, Mrs. John W. MELTON of Poole, Mrs. Robert POWELL of Henderson, and Mrs. Casey (unreadable, might be SPARKS) of Dallas City, Ill.; four sons, Ray and Nealie of Paducah, Sherman V. and George W. of Corydon; a sister, Mrs. Erma LILES of Poole; and 20 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Rev. Arthur DIGBY, jr., officiating. Burial was in Fairmont cemetery, Henderson. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, December 11, 1952.

William C. DIXON, 79, retired farmer, died at noon Monday at his home in Poole. Survivors are the wife, Lela; a daughter, Miss Georgia Dixon, Poole; and two brothers, Oliver of Corydon, and Guy Dixon of Sebree. Funeral services were held at the Poole Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. C.W. POSEY officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole.
