For 2010, the Scott County Historical Society partnered with the Scott County Genealogical Society to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Scott County High School who planned to attend a Kentucky college or university. Students applying for the scholarship wrote an essay about a person, event, or business important to Scott County's history.

In January 2011, the decision was made to discontinue the scholarship. Any additional scholarship opportunities sponsored by the Scott County Historical Society will be announced well in advance of the award date.
