The Three Bells

By The Browns

There's a village hidden deep in the valley,
Among the pine trees half forlorn,
And there on a sunny morning
Little Jimmy Brown was born.

All the chapel bells were ringing in the little valley town,
And the song that they were singing was for baby Jimmy Brown,
Then the little congregation prayed for guidance from above,
"Lead us not into temptation, bless this hour of meditation",
"Guide him with eternal love".

There's a village hidden deep in the valley,
Beneath the mountains high above,
And there, twenty years thereafter
Jimmy was to meet his love.

All the chapel bells were ringing, 'twas a great day in his life,
'cause the songs that they were singing was for Jimmy and his wife,
Then the little congregation prayed for guidance from above,
"Lead us not into temptation, bless, oh Lord this celebration",
"May their lives be filled with love".

From the village hidden deep in the valley,
One rainy morning dark and gray,
A soul winged its way to heaven,
Jimmy Brown had passed away.

Just a lonely bell was ringing in the little valley town,
'twas farewell that it was singing to our little Jimmy Brown,
And the little congregation prayed for guidance from above,
"Lead us not into temptation, may his soul find the salvation",
"Of thy great eternal love".

Please note: Not all of the following birth information is accurate. Think of it as a Census, most of the mistakes are in the spelling of the names. I doubt the list is complete, these are the reported births. I will copy this as it is written, please use your judgment to determine the accuracy. I will list the information in the following manner: Child's name, birth date, birth place ( Pendleton County unless other wise noted), race & sex, condition, father/owner, mother's maiden name, residence of Parents (Pendleton County unless other wise noted), later births also include the father's place of birth, mother's place of birth, these are the last two entries.  Bonnie Snow

I had transcribed the birth and death records but since Eric Nagle and Larry Ford so generously submitted their excellent compilation of these records I have removed mine; believe me, you will like their format better!

Eric Nagle, President of the Pendleton County Historical and Genealogical Society, has generously donated the contents of his and Larry Ford's excellent book of Pendleton County, Kentucky Birth and Death Records.  He has done this as a memorial to Harry Stephens and, bless his heart, to recognize this site for all the work we have done.  What a wonderful tribute, thank you so much Eric!  Please write Eric and tell him how much you appreciate his kind, generous contribution!
This compilation contains thousands of birth and death records, we are so fortunate!   Click on the category below to view the records.
