1.  Jonas1 McKinley was born Abt. 1798 in Ohio, and died Aft. December 1837 in Grant Co Ky or Pendleton Co Ky.  He married Jane McMillan 08 August 1817 in Adams Co Ohio, daughter of James McMillan and Martha Cooper.  She was born Abt. 1798 in possibly Westmoreland Co Pa, and died Bet. 1851 - April 1852 in Pendleton Co Ky.

Notes for Jonas McKinley:

At one place in E.E. Barton Papers Corinne McKinley, daughter of William McKiney Jr, of Grant Co Ky, stated she thinks Jesse McKinley was a brother of Benjamin McKinley. Did she really mean Jonas McKinley was a brother of Benjamin Goode McKinley? Papers also say that  William McKinley Jr., (grandson of Benjamin G.) said he was a cousin of Jesse McKinley of Pendleton Co Ky.  Papers are confusing on generations of this family. Might Jonas really have been named Jonas Jesse or Jesse Jonas McKinley, maybe that's why the mix-up in keeping generations clear?

Last name in some records spelled McKindley.

Jonas in 1820 and 1830 Grant Co census records, signed Josiah's marriage bond at end of Dec 1837, Pendleton Co,  but Jane is listed in Pendleton Co census in 1840, Jonas must have died between Dec 1837 and when the census was taken in 1840.

Could be the mother of Sarah D. McKinley who died 31 Jan 1859 at age 10y 9m, of whooping cough.

Notes for Matilda A. or H. Stevenson:

Josiah married Matilda Stevenson in 1853, it was she who signed papers in the distribution of Jane McKinley's estate in Pendleton Co Ky.

Matilda could be mother of David McKinley who died 23 Feb 1859 of whooping cough at age 3yrs.

Nancy McKinley's death certificate says Matilda Stevenson was Nancy's mother, I don't think so, see notes for Nancy. But Nancy's death certificate, naming Matilda as mother, gave Matilda's maiden name as Stevenson, not Stephen, as Charles' death certificate states. The informant on Nancy's was her son Andrew Hilburn, and on Charles' it was the administrator of the State Hospital at Nevada.

Sargent Abt. 1905.  He was born Abt. 1847 in NY, and died Bef. 1914.

Notes for Nancy Ann McKinley:

I believe Nancy  is child of Josiah's marriage to Margaret Smith, not his marriage to Matilda Stevenson, could be that Margaret died in child birth or shortly after. Nancy's death certificate lists her mother as Matilda Stevenson, but I believe her birth mother was Margaret Smith. Marriage dates and Nancy's birth date support this belief. 

In 1880 Jasper Co Mo census, Jesse Crane and Nancy are listed with daughter Mollie.  Jesse Crane Jr was born in Dallas Co Mo in or near Urbana, could Nancy have been staying with her aunt Hester McKinley Bullock in 1886, because her husband Jesse Crane,  was dead or recently having died? Nancy married the Hilburn in Dallas Co Mo in Jul 1887, shortly after his first wife died. Nancy and her second husband, the Hilburn, then moved to Joplin Jasper Co. Mo, probably because Nancy still had property and a house in that city.

Notes for Robert Wilson Hilburn:

Was a Confederate Soldier during the Civil War. Seems that he and Nancy divorced and he remarried. Later  went to live at Confederate Soldiers Home at Higginsville, Mo.  Daughter Emma's husband passed away and he appears to have left the Soldiers Home for Okla. to help Emma and he passed away within a few days of arriving in Okla. Died at home of daughter Mrs. Emma Watson.
