Auburn, Kentucky, and died December 23, 1914 in Lenoxburg, Pendleton County, Kentucky.

May have served during the Civil War. 16th Infantry, Co. H. Research continuing on this subject. He would have been very young but not impossible.

Military: Army. Cpl. Kermit Yelton served during WWII in the Pacific Theatre (Phillipines) 1941-1945. TEC 5, SVC Co. 108 Inf. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and was honorably discharged. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Buried in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Carrollton, KY.

 

Kermit and Kenzie were named after two sons of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Notes for HUBERT KENZIE YELTON:

Attended Murray State University, Murray, KY until Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. He joined the Navy at that time and became a Radioman/gunner 3rd class on the USS Bunkerhill. He was a member of the "Helldiver Squadron" in the south pacific. A book was written in 1947 about the exploits of this group of servicemen. He received an honorable discharge.

 

Kermit and Kenzie were named after two sons of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
