BARTON PAPERS - SURNAME - ROBINSON

BARTON PAPERS - ROBINSON
Generously transcribed & submitted by Nancy Bray; thanks Nancy!

Jacob Robinson's father came from Va. - seems like from about Bradstown, and located in Blue Grass.  Jacob's father came to Pend. and settled where the Robinsons now live.  He came to Pend. because he liked to fish and hunt.  But he became dissaisified, perhaps acct. sickness and returned to the Blue Grass Region, but don't know just what place.  His son Jacob staid in Pend. Co.

Ben Fugate lived in old stone house, later owned by Godmans.  Suppose he built it.

The Robinsons came to Am. from England, settled in Va.  One of Jacob's bros. settled in Ohio, and traded with Indians - was locksmith and fixed guns for the Indians.

Robert Fugate (who lived at Callensville) was son of Ben.  Robert Fugate m. ab. 3 times.  One wife was Polly Secrest(?)   His last wife was Jennie Buckingham (sister Miss Lizzie Buckingham, the school teacher.)

Annie (sch teacher, and John, children of Robert Fugate.  John m. Maggie Sleabown (?) of Shawhan Sta.

Jacob Robinson owned slaves.

Joel Robinson settled on South Licking in 1795 and died there.

(Nancy's note:  tried to copy exactly as is written in the Barton Papers, but some things are hard to read.)
