As with most things, there is good news and bad news, the bad news is this is only the 1870 Census Index of the heads of households; the good news is that a copy of the census with the head of household and the other people living in that household is available for a very modest fee. You will need to send the name of the head of household, the year, county, and state of the census record you want AND the page it will be found on.

EXAMPLE: Abbott, Alexander, 1870 Pendleton County Census, Page 430.

The last time I used this service the cost was fifty cents per head of household plus postage. The limit was ten lookups per mailing. You can send for as many as you want, but if you want more than ten, you need to send a separate request. I HIGHLY suggest you contact the following to see if these rates are still valid.

The above library will send you the census for any year in any county and state, but you must send the page number along with the name, county, state and year.

I also suggest that because of the very creative spelling of many of the following names, (our ancestors were definitely "hooked on phonics"), DO NOT use the find in top window, or the search engine features.
