This
little building, known as the Seb Walters Wash House, was originally
located on the left fork of Johnson's Fork, specifically on Seb Walters
Branch. Todd Preston sort of fell in love with this little building
during one of his deer hunting sojourns in this hollow. Dour Holbrooks
purchased the property a few years ago, and donated this little beauty to
our Pioneer Village. It was probably used at one time as a meat or smoke
house, as the salt from this operation had fallen on the floor, and the
wild animals had devoured some of the flooring after it was left vacant.
Hanging on the walls were signs, "Wash Hands Here," and "Hang Towels
Here," so we can assume it became sort of a bath house at a later time. A
letter was found in this house that had been mailed from the Cincinnati,
Ohio area from some of the family that migrated north. They were mighty
homesick, but were encouraging other family members to come and get jobs
there. This cabin is now used for electrical hookups and a tool house.
