My great grandfather was
Samuel Houston Patrick. His son Frank Patrick was my grandfather, from
Magoffin county, buried in Patrick Cemetery in Burning Fork. I have a
picture of Frank as a child with his twin sister Maude. Standing behind
them is a girl, on the back it is marked "Maude Risner". Nobody knows
the connection. It also is marked "1902".

Georgia Jackson Patrick, standing at the grave of her husband, Dona C.
Patrick:
Obituary of Georgia Jackson Patrick (Lexington Herald News), Friday, May 22,
1981.
Georgia Jackson Patrick, age 100, widow of Dona C. Patrick, died
in Paintsville Hospital on Wednesday. Services at Salyersville.
Survivors include seven children.
Judge W.R. Prater read the following obituary:
Dona C. Patrick was born February 10, 1875 at the old John Patrick home
on Burning Fork creek, son of John Wesley Patrick and Abigail Sayler,
and died at his home on Burning Fork Creek January 14, 1949. Mr.
Patrick received his early education in the Magoffin County Public
Schools and later attended Hazel Green Academy. He taught eight years
in Magoffin County schools. In 1918, he served as office Deputy Sheriff
for four years and in 1922 was elected Sheriff of Magoffin
County, to which office he served four years. Since leaving his
position in public service, Mr. Patrick engaged in farming.
Mr. Patrick was a member of the Salyersville Methodist Church. He was
interested in all civic and church activities and took a great part in
politics in this community. Dona C. Patrick was married on September 13,
1899 to Georgia Jackson and to this union was born these children: Dr.
Lenore Chipman, Williamstown, KY., Mrs. Mae Dills, Williamstown, Mrs.
Lucy Slusher, Salyersville; Mrs. Mildred White, Tampa, Florida; Mrs. Roy
Rice and John Nelson Patrick, Dayton, Ohio; Helen Elizabeth Patrick who
died in infancy; Henry Clay Patrick, Salyersville, Ky; and Dona C.
Patrick, Jr. of Garden City, Detroit, MI.
Mr. Patrick has 15
grandchildren, all living. One of these grandchildren is serving as a
member of the Air Corps, U.S. Army, and another grandchild is serving in
the U.S. Navy.
Dona C. Patrick leaves these brothers and sisters to mourn his loss:

Jeff Patrick, Lakeville; Martha May, Salyersville; Permelia Patrick,

Dona was a sympathetic and encouraging father to his children. He was a
devoted husband, admired and respected his neighbors. His passing is a
great loss to our community, to his family and to all those who knew
him. |
