About 20 indiviudals who are related to the Cozine family are researching the family line. As of now more that 800 related individuals have been found begining with Cozyn Gerritsen b.1604 from Putten Holland who arrived in New Amsterdam in 1633. Hi

I am researching a Thomas Whitehouse who witnessed a will for John Thurman of Mercer Co KY in 1821. I believe this same Thomas Whitehouse was the bondsman in the marriage between John Thurman and Sarah Whitehouse on Nov 14, 1826. Do you know of these connections?

Thanks

Adam R. Garrett 1828
Surnames: GARRETT, SMITH#02251
MichaelAnne Guido <[email protected]> Thu, 06 Jul 2000
On January 31, 1828 in Mercer County Kentucky Adam R. Garrett married a Margaret Jane Smith. I am interested in contacting anyone researching Adam R. Garrett. He is the brother of Jane Garrett of Woodford County, KY who married John F. Kennedy in Woodford County, KY on Nov. 9, 1827. Adam R. Garrett posted bond along with John F. Kennedy for the marriage of his siter. Both Adam and Jane Garrett were the children of Hugh Garrett of Woodford County, KY. Jane Garrett Kennedy moved between 1830-1840 to Garrard County, KY with her family and then back to Woodford County after her husband's death.

Is anyone in Mercer County tracing this line?

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,
MichaelAnne Guido

Looking for Sarah BANTA (b. abt 1805, Mercer Co. KY)
Surnames: BANTA, HART#02252
Jane E. (White) Stewart <[email protected]> Thu, 06 Jul 2000
I am looking for my 3rd Great Grandmother, Sarah BANTA, who married William HART 18 Jan 1818 in Warrick County, Indiana. I found a Warrick County Court record of their divorce in 1825, but no mention of their children:
John Nelson HART b.1820, Mercer Co., KY.
Emeline HART b.1822 in Indiana. (My 2nd Great Grandmother) married William B. CAMPELL in 1884 in Spencer Co., IN.

Documention for Emeline's mother Sarah BANTA is the following biography of Emeline's brother, John N. Hart. It is found on Page 189 of "Goodspeed, Bros. & Co. Publishers 1885 edition History of Warrick, Spencer and Perry Counties, Indiana:

"John N. Hart, the immediate subject of this sketch, was born in July, 1820, and is one of two children - himself and Emaline - born to William and Sarah (Banta) Hart. The mother dying, William Hart married Sallie Farmer, who bore him ten children, these seven yet living: David L., Thompson B., Sarah A., Elizabeth, Samuel W., Charles C., and Ellen. John N. Hart was raised by his grandfather until twenty five years of age, receiving a common school education. In March, 1845 he wedded Maria Hart, who died seven months later. September 1, 1850, he married Julia A. Morrison, and by her he is the father of three children: Ivy J., A.E. and George W. (deceased as of 1885). He owns an excellent farm of 240 acres, is one of the leading Republicans of the county, and is a first-class citizen."

No record of Sarah (BANTA) HART dying in Warrick County.

Julia Hillard Charles, a Great Grandaughter of John N. Hart says that after the divorce William sent Sarah (BANTA) HART back to French Lick, West Baden, Orange Co., Indiana. (this has not been verified, I am looking for her there also).

Do you have any record of Sarah (BANTA) HART b. abt 1805 in Mercer Co.,Ky.?
Sure would appreciate any help. Thank you

Jane E. (White) Stewart

Hulda Parker/Chas. Jones Mercer County, Ky.
Surnames: JONES, PARKER#02265
G. Smith <[email protected]> Sun, 23 Jul 2000
I am searching for the children, grandchildren, etc.of Hulda Parker and Charley Jones. Hulda is the daughter of James Parker and Georgia Spaulding.
The 1920 Mercer County census lists Charley as being 38? and Hulda as being 31 years old. Their children are listed as
? son 14
William son 13
Joe son 11
? daughter 9
Lee son 8
Katherin daughter 4
Fred son 2
The names on this census are hard to read but this should give you an idea. I believe that she had more than 8 children. This family may have gone to the Lexington Fayette County, Kentucky area as did most of their family.

Mary Ellen Carr is my great-grandmother. She married Barnett Smith on November 18, 1872 in Mercer County, Kentucky. They lived in Woodford County until the death of Barnett. I have recently received a copy of the application made by Barnett Smith for his Civil War pension and also the Application made by Mary Ellen Carr for her widow's benefits after Barnett's death. Barnett died December 21, 1907 and Mary Ellen died on April 20, 1927. The are buried in the Versailles cemetery. The stone is fairly legible but does not photograph well.
