Born Aug. 22, 1902, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late George and Mary Buchanan Akin. He was a charter member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, a former co-owner and employee of Chesnut-Salter-Best Hardware Store and the widower of Blanche Woosley Akin.

Survivors include a son, Gentry Akin Jr. of Danville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Tommy Valentine. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

LANCASTER - Agnes Cecile Barnes, 84, of Crab Orchard, formerly of Lancaster, died Friday at her home.

Born March 20, 1931 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice Pollard Worley. She was a beautician and member of Crab Orchard Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Dale L. Goode of West Chester, Ohio; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. John Lowry. Burial will in Lancaster Cemetery.

A native of Lincoln Co., he was born July 14, 1951 to the late Carroll and Anna Mae Griffin Berry. He was a pipeline worker.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Roy Ray Berry, Jr.; one sister; and four brothers.

Survivors include four brothers, Jimmy, Mike, and Johnny Berry all of Stanford and Bobby Berry of Chesterfield, IN.; two sisters, Patsy (Butch) Phillips and Jo Ann (Carl) Elliott both of Stanford; two special grandchildren, Heather Sutherland and Cherish Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 2 at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. David Hendrickson officiating. Burial was in Berry Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Ronnie Berry, Jody Elliott, Ronnie Adams, Jerry Wilson, Jamie Wilson, and Amber Wilson.

Emmett “Pap” Berryman, 70, of Crab Orchard, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

A native of Winchester, he was born to the late Gano and Jenny Mae Berryman of Nicholas Co.

He was also preceded in death by a son, John Leslie Berryman; and two great grandchildren, Elijah and Leslyn Peel.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Berryman; three children, Buddy (Mae) Berryman and Kathy Rose of Lexington and Wanda Berryman of Crab Orchard; one sister, Freda Clem; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the Clarks Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial was in Clintonville Cemetery in Bourbon Co. with Pastor, Curtis Coots of Silas Baptist Church in Cynthiana officiating.

Active pallbearers were Thomas, Charlie and David Heisel, Jason Peel, Gene Miller, and Mark Allen Berryman. Honorary pallbearers were David Peel, and Danny and Donnie Rose.

Born Aug. 21, 1923, in Whitley County, she was a daughter of the late Levi M. and Maude Creekmore Patrick. She was a member of Science Hill Baptist Church, Somerset Art League and worked as a reading aid at Eubank Elementary School for 15 years. She was the widow of Harvey E. Blevins.

Survivors include a son, Rodney Blevins of Eubank; a daughter, Vanessa Dixon of Versailles; a brother, Clinton Patrick of Science Hill; two sisters, Fayrene Tackett of Hopkinsville and Blanche Keith of Eubank; and two grandchildren.

LIBERTY - Herman Lester Brown Sr., 81, of Calvary Ridge Road, Yosemite, died Tuesday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 24, 1924, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Elmer Z. and Ada Spears Brown. He was a retired Casey County teacher and a member of Liberty First Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran and a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient.

Survivors include three sons, Herman L. Brown Jr. and Richard Brown, both of Yosemite, and Mike Brown of Hustonville; a sister, Minnie Dorn of Morning View; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Wayne Naylor. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military rites by Casey County Funeral Squad

CRAB ORCHARD - Woodrow Lee Brown, 62, of Blue Ash, Ohio, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Tuesday in Ohio.

He was the son of Mae Watson Brown of Blue Ash and the late Woodrow Brown. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Princeton High School and Crown Cork and Seal Co. He was a member of the Marine Corps. ┼

Survivors include his wife, Lana Roy Brown; two daughters, Lisa Trivett and Renee Brown, both of Blue Ash; a sister, Fay Lamb of Blue Ash; a brother, Ray Brown of Houston, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home by Russell Dunaway. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Strawser Funeral Home, Blue Ash, and noon-2 p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home.

Iva Belle Burchett, 68, of Stanford died Thursday, Jan. 12, at Stanford House Nursing Home.

A native of Casey County, she was born Sept. 22, 1937 to the late Broudus and Della Mae Bryant Rogers. She was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Allen “Tom” Burchett of Stanford; one daughter, Peggy Sue Barnett of Moreland; two sons, Billy Russell Alsman of Junction City and Bobby Ray Alsman of Science Hill; one brother, Wince Rogers of Junction City; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 16 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland with Rev. Wendell Douglas officiating. Burial was in Junction City Cemetery.

Audra Beatrice Hall Carter, 76, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 27 at the Stanford House Nursing Home.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born May 2, 1929 to the late Felix and Bessie Cornett Hall. She was a former employee of the Palm Beach Co. in Danville and Bendix Radio in Maryland, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Danville, was of the Baptist faith, and the widow of Gradon Dutch Denmyer and Arvil Thomas Carter.

Survivors include a son, Donald Ray (Jane) Denmyer of Eubank; four brothers, Ray Hall and Clarence Vanoy of Waynesburg, Joe Hall of Nancy, and Thomas Hall of Summerville, SC.; two sisters, Mary Coleman of Somerset and Eva Harris of Waynesburg; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30 at the Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg. Burial was in Parlor Grove Cemetery.

STANFORD - Services for Frederick Lawrence Collier, 78, of Lecanto, Fla., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home by Vola Brown. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Sept. 29, 1927, in Stanford, he was a son of the late Mallon "Ike" and Lucy Naylor Collier. He was a retired machinist for IBM Corp. and a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge 60 and Robert M. Sircle Masonic Lodge 954 in Lexington. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran of World War II. He also was a gunsmith and the widower of Myrtle Woods Collier.

Survivors include a son, Larry Collier of Hernando, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon Barman of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Marion Collier of Tyler, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Grant and Robert Miller, Pat Peck, Gary and Terry Winchester and Mark Elliott.

Gregory Shawn Cook, 27, of Minford, OH., died Sunday, Jan. 1 at the Cable-Huntington Hospital.

A native of Logan Co., OH., he was born Oct. 1, 1978 to Clark Cook and Teresa Taylor Cook of Minford, OH. He was a construction worker and member of Sunshine Church of Christ of Minford, OH.

Survivors include one brother, Brad Gooch of Lexington; and one sister, Amanda Cook of Minford, OH.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the McKinney Baptist Church with Rev. David Gambrel officiating. Burial was in Cook’s Point Cemetery in Kings Mountain.

Active pallbearers were Jason Taylor, Ronnie Cook, Curtis Cook, Brandon Fields, Scott Taylor, Gary Taylor, Stephen Reed, and Kyle Coulter.

Born July 22, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Nannie Spratt Onstott. She was a retired school teacher for the deaf. She was the widow of Joseph Crossett.

Survivors include three step-sons, Gerald, Donald and Kenneth Crossett, all of New York; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Margie Silvernail. A graveside memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Hustonville Cemetery by David Smith.

STANFORD - Services for Louvenia Lasure Douglas, 64, of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale Denton. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born May 28, 1941, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late Manles and Grace Gilpin Lasure. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Broughtontown and Stanford elementary schools. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Douglas; three sons, Mark Douglas and Wesley Douglas, both of Stanford, and Richard Douglas of Lexington; three brothers, Charles Lasure of Narcoossee, Fla., and Manles and Paul Lasure, both of Stanford; four sisters, Thelma Sebastian and Florence Misenheimer, both of Stanford, Alberta Wood of Danville, and Mary Still of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

Mark Allen Dowell, 50, of Summer Hill Court, Somerset, died Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Baptist Regional Hospital in Corbin.

A native of Crawfordsville, IN., he was born Sept. 17, 1955 to Sylvia Jean (Kidd) Dowell of Waynesburg and the late Leonard Dowell.

Survivors include one son, Kyle Dowell of Somerset; one daughter, Chrystal Dowell of Somerset; two brothers, Ronnie Dowell of Stanford and Tim Dowell of Waynesburg; and one sister, Diane Orcutt of Junction City.

CINCINNATI - Ray Durham, 79, formerly of Moreland, died Thursday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Born Dec. , 7, 1926, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Olka Nicholson Durham. He was a retired chief master sergeant in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanora Anderson Durham; three brothers, Russell and Sam Durham of Moreland, and Horace D. Durham of Cincinnati; four sisters, Helen Mills of Little South, June Southerland of Butchertown, Bell Disney of Louisville and Dale Berns of Wake Forest, N.C.; a step-son, George Rich of Hillard, Ohio; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maxine Elliott Moss Edmiston, 92, of Frankfort, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Monday, Nov. 28 at the Bradford Square Nursing Home in Frankfort.

A native of Bryantsville, she was born Jan. 4, 1913 to the late Rufus M. Morgan Moss, Sr. and Mary Shearer Moss. She was a homemaker, member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church, and widow of Francis Edmiston.

She was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Christine, Acton, Ray, Horace, Elsa, Bonnie, Hubert and Viven.

Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Edmiston Smith of Frankfort; one brother, Rufus M. Moss, Jr., of Pontiac, MI.; one grandson, Rodford Edmiston Smith of Frankfort; one granddaughter, Kimberly Smith Herbert of Versailles; and great granddaughters, Barbara and Beth Herbert of Versailles.

CRAB ORCHARD - Ida Lee Price Farmer, 77, of Louisville, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Monday in Louisville.

Born March 26, 1928, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Ila Hunter Price. She was a retired seamstress for Palm Beach Co., a member of Crab Orchard Christian Church and Crab Orchard Eastern Star. She was the widow of Wallace E. Farmer.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Gaither of Louisville and Pam Kirby of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother, Wayne Price of Crab Orchard; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

A native of Lincoln Co., he was born June 26, 1938 to the late Dink “Junior” Farmer and Mae Middleton Farmer. He was a farmer, had retired from Allison Abrasives after 16 years, and was the widower of Carol E. Farmer.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Lawrence Farmer and J. C. Farmer.

Survivors include one son, Bill (Lynn) Farmer of Stanford; one daughter, Melissa (Ottie) Carter of Somerset; one brother, Jack Farmer of Crab Orchard; three grandchildren, William Aaron Farmer, Jordan Ross Carter, and Rachel Elaine Carter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Stuart Mason officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born July 4, 1916, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Ennies and Alice Garr. She was a former employee of Hub Frankel department store, a member of Stanford First Baptist Church and the Pansy Club.

Survivors include four sisters, Pauline Walker, Lottie Gooch, Hazel Jones and Vivian Welch, all of Stanford.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Stanford First Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd R. Raglin. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery.

STANFORD - Services for Chester Kenneth Garris, 68, of Stanford, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery by the Rev. David Gambrel and with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.

Born April 14, 1937, in Elmira, N.Y., he was a son of the late Stanton J. and Elizabeth Slocum Garris. He was retired from the Naval Ordinance and a truck driver for Pegasus Transportation in Louisville. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Masonic Lodge Post 60 in Stanford

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Garris of Eubank and Darrin Garris of Waynesburg; two daughters, Tarry Patterson of Stanford and Crystal Brown of Waynesburg; two brothers, Clayton Garris of Anderson County, Tenn., and Donnie Garris of Elmira, N.Y.; two sisters, Marilyn Huffman of Louisville and Frances Ducker of Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Margaret Southard Douglas Garrison, 74, of Stanford, died Friday, Jan. 20 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born March 2, 1931 to the late John and Claudia Robbins Douglas. She was a housewife and charter member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, George Garrison of Stanford; one daughter, Darlene (Robert) Adams of Stanford; three brothers, Vernon, Bill and Johnny Douglas, all of Stanford; two sisters, Rose Smith and Nellie Long both of Stanford; two grandchildren, Erin Johnston and Jason Sowder; one great granddaughter, Leah Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 23 at the Willow Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brad King officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Nephews served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Sowder and T.E.L. Sunday School Class.

Paul James Glass, 87, of Liberty, died Sunday, Jan. 1 at the Liberty Care Center in Liberty.

A native of Mountain City, TN., he was born December 13, 1918 to the late Paul William and Myrtle Roark Glass. He was a farmer, a World War II Army veteran, member of the Cuba Community Church of God, and widower of Evelyn Beuchler Glass.

Survivors include his wife, Dallie Kimes Glass of Junction City; four sons, Donnie Glass of Argyle, Dennis and Danny Glass both of Stanford, and Jimmy Cook of Chicago, IL.; three daughters, Rhonda Duncan of Liberty, Sharon Waddell of Waynesburg, and Sandy Hoffman of Cincinnati, OH.; several stepchildren; two brothers, Leon Glass of Eubank and Eugene Glass of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Evelene Richards of Arizona and LaVerne Ford of Cincinnati, OH.; 21 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Born in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late George and Stella Wilson Hoskins. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 37 years.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth R. Gordon; a son, Mike Gordon of Brandon, Fla.; four daughters, Joan Raines of Louisville, Betty Shaw of Paducah, Linda Keck of Danville and Judy Glasscock of Perryville; a brother, Homer Hoskins of Stanford; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 29, 1932, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nannie Mae Brummett Jones.

She was a 30-year, retired employee of Boyle Lumber Co. and a member of First Baptist Church, Broadway, where she was a first-grade Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Greene; three daughters, Sharon Bryant and Lisa Edwards, both of Danville, and Susan Warmoth of Nicholasville; five sisters, Nellie Denny and Lois Carrier, both of Lancaster, Arvena Fowler of Harrodsburg, Eula Parks of Lexington and Beulah Gartner of Cincinnati; three brothers, Gilbert Jones, Paul Jones and Charlie Jones Jr., all of Stanford; and six grandchildren. Rosetta Pullum Greer, 99, of Luther Gooch Road, Kings Mountain, died Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born Aug. 30, 1906 to the late William Riley and Angeline Stull Pullum. She was a homemaker, the oldest living member of the Pleasant Point Baptist Church having joined in 1920, and widow of George Albert Greer.

She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Ronnie Napier and David Greer; and a sister, Alma Delk.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin Greer of Elsmere, Herman Greer of Kings Mountain, and Hubert Greer of Hermitage, AR.; three daughters, Gladys Marie Clarkson of Waynesburg, Lorena Napier of Kings Mountain, and Ethel Irene Eads of Covington; four sisters, Ada Snow of Kings Mountain, Bessie Lay of Georgia, Effie Jones of Michigan and Martha Jones of Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. David Gambrel officiating. Burial was in K. P. Hall Cemetery.

SPRINGFIELD - Shirley Charlene Griffitts, 72, of Springfield, died Saturday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born July 10, 1933, in Kings Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Emmett L. and Emmett Pierce Phillips Dishon. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Griffitts; three sons, Leslie A. Griffitts, Guy W. Griffitts and Ernest C. Griffitts, all of Springfield; a brother, Charles V. Dishon of Toms River, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Mary Jewell Smith Hall, 59, of Marksbury Avenue, Lancaster, died Saturday at Lancaster Christian Care Center.

Born June 1, 1946, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late Earl P. and Elizabeth I. Johnson Smith McDermott. She was a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ and the widow of Frank Hall.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffery V. Hall of Lancaster and Darrell R. Hall of Newport; a daughter, Jennifer L. Johnson of Lancaster; a stepsister, Dolly M. Smith of Gambill; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Earl F. Hall.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Grove Church of Christ by the Rev. Thurmon Pearson. Burial will be in Pine Grove Church Cemetery.

MORELAND - Services for James Douglas Hamilton, 42, of McKinney, formerly of Bardstown, will be 2 p.m. today at Green River Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Rick Naylor. Burial will be in Eason Cemetery. He died Friday in Lincoln County.

Born Feb. 17, 1963, in Bardstown, he was the son of the late James R. and Imogene Oder Hamilton. He worked for Asplundh.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Johnson Hamilton; four brothers, Bobby, Ricky, David and Freddy Hamilton, all of Bardstown; four sisters, Rose Richardson, Gail Hamilton and Wanda Parker, all of Bardstown, and Peggy Mikulec of Danville.

MCKINNEY - A Lincoln County man died Friday after losing control of his vehicle on Ky. 1178 and crashing into a semi truck, police said.

James D. Hamilton, 42, of McKinney, died in the crash, which occurred about 6 p.m. a mile east of McKinney. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Bill Demrow. He was not wearing a seat belt.

According to Kentucky State Police, Hamilton was headed east in his Dodge Ram pickup when he lost control in a curve. The vehicle entered onto the grass-covered shoulder and Hamilton overcorrected when trying to return to the roadway. Hamilton's truck slid across the center line and was struck by an oncoming Kenworth driven by Robert E. Snow, 36, of Hustonville. Snow sustained no injuries.

Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies along with members of the McKinney Area Rescue Squad assisted at the scene. Trooper Eric C. Taylor investigated.

Born Feb. 19, 1924, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Dexter and Laura McCowan Atkins. She was an artist, a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Run Baptist Church. She was the widow of Stanley David Hardin.

Brenda Harper, 52, of Somerset, died Thursday, Dec. 8, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Sunday, Aug. 16, 1953 to the late Robert Earl & Imogene Cox Berry. She was a nurse at Britthaven Nursing Home for 22 1/2 years and a member of Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her husband Jerry Harper of Somerset; brother, Wayne Berry of Stanford; maternal grandmother, Opal Cox of Waynesburg; two nieces; and one nephew.

LIBERTY - Sandra Jeanette Harris, 30, of Kings Mountain, died Dec. 27 in Kings Mountain.

Born April 6, 1975, in Chicago, she was a daughter of Frances Kobilca Harris of Kings Mountain and the late Richard Harris. She was a former chemical equipment repairer and an Army veteran.

Other survivors include two sisters, Tina Freund of Eubank and Diane Freund of Virginia Beach, Va.; a half-brother, Patrick Harris of Illinois; and grandmothers, Lena Kobilca of Kings Mountain and Jeanette Harris of Ciciro, Ill.

Kenneth L. Harvey, 87, of Danville, died Saturday at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

Born July 20, 1918, in Pawtuckett, R.I., he was the son of the late Harold L. and Mae Twist Harvey. He was a foreman for Corning Glass in Danville for 40 years, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Boyle Post 46 and The Presbyterian Church of Danville. He was the widower of Emogene Hester Harvey.

Survivors include two daughters, Regena Harvey of Danville and Roseanne Amburgy of Oregonia, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Valorie Caddell of Junction City; a stepson, Stuart Wilson of Danville; and a grandchild.

Born June 2, 1918, in Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie K. Roberts Pumphrey. She was a housewife and a member of First Church of God. She was the widow of Cecil Hughes.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Plummer of Alexandria; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Plummer.

Born Sept. 20, 1925, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Henry K. and Hester Sims Yates. She was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church where she was a former member of the Women's Circle, a member and past president of Harrodsburg Women's Club and a member and former secretary of Mercer County Fair and Horse Show board. She was the widow of John H. James.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Caribeth Durham Brown of Roanoke and Jaymie Durham Ross of Danville; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cassandra "Cassie" James Durham.

A native of Eubank, she was born Dec. 30, 1923 to the late Alonza Thompson and Elsie Kessee Thompson. She was a homemaker, member of Church of God of Prophesy, and the widow of John Henry Johnson. She also loved to quilt.

Kenneth Lee Jones, 79, of Waynesburg, died Monday, Jan. 16 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

A native of Martins Ferry, OH., he was born Thursday, September 23, 1926 to the late Orville and Berta Bates Jones. He was a WWII and Korean War veteran, member of the 475 Infantry Regiment “Merrill's Marauders” and the American Legion, and widower of Shirley Mae Whaley Jones.

A native of Suzan, WV., he was born Jan.15, 1923 to the late Leander Napier and Pollie Hensley Napier. He was a retired electrical engineer and a WWII Army veteran.

Born June 27, 1939, in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Robert and Lena LaFevers Napier. He was a retired bus driver for Garrard County schools and a member of Pentecostal Church of God.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born June 14, 1924 to the late John Reed and Lavinia Hopkins Shelton. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church, former co-owner of The Sweet Shop, and widow of Cecil Gilmer Nuckols, Sr.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lowry Nuckols; three sisters, Merlie Todd, Shirley Adams, and Elizabeth Englund; and four brothers, Joseph, Dudley, Morris and John Shelton, Jr.

CRAB ORCHARD - Robert B. "Chip" Pauley Jr., 58, of Lexington, formerly of Crab Orchard and Tampa, Fla., died Tuesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born March 7, 1947, in Mullens, W.V., he was the son of the late Robert B. and Vivian D. Poff Pauley. He was a professional boxer in the middleweight division. He was self-employed in the home window construction business, a former general manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Tampa, and a former vice president of a subsidiary of Aluminum Industries in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Mullens.

Survivors include his wife, Darla Jean McKenzie Pauley; two sons, Kenneth A. Pauley of Fort Wright and Robert B. Pauley III of Florida; a brother, Mike Pauley of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; and his mother-in-law, Ruth Armstrong of Crab Orchard.

Services are 3 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Home by the Rev. Jan McKenzie. Burial will be in Blueridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, W.V.

Charles Ornsby Robert Payton, 71 of Moreland died Sunday, Nov. 27 at his residence.

A native of Casey Co., he was born June 11, 1934 to the late Dave and Allie Shoapman Payton. He was a plumber and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Travis Payton; three brothers, Freebert, Jessie and Herlin Payton; and three sisters, Betty Walker, Elsie Davidson, and Josephine Humphrey.

Survivors include five sons, Wayne Payton of Liberty, Robert and Timmy Payton both of McKinney, Keith Payton of Hustonville, and Chuck Payton of Middleburg; four sisters, Chelcie Turpin of Stanford, and Virginia Corso, Lois Crawley, Rudell Schmidt and Jeanie Reckley all of Indianapolis, IN.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Hazel Pelsor, 99, of Stanford, died Sunday, Jan. 1 at the Stanford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stanford.

A native of Casey Co., she was born March 26, 1906 to the late Forch and Lela Frederick Leach. She was a former employee of The Crosley Radio Corporation in Cincinnati, OH., worked at Puget Sound Navel Yard in Bremerton, WA.; a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church; and the widow of John Pelsor.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dory and Lance Leach; five sisters, Minnie Leach, Agnes Stearns, Daisy Maupin, Mae Sims, and Lillie Pulliam.

A native of Casey Co., she was born Oct. 30, 1933 to the late James and Dorothy Merritt Wilcher. She was retired from Cowdens Manufacturing in Stanford, worked as a CNA at Fort Logan Hospital, a volunteer at West Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services, and a member of Ellisburg Baptist Church.

Born May 22, 1967, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Carl and Jeanette Johnson Randolph. He was a farmer.

Born March 9, 1931, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late Tinsley and Bernice Sprinkles Ball. She had been a telephone operator and a member of United Methodist Church. She also was a volunteer for the Senior Companion program.

MORELAND - Melvin Floyd Reed, 81, of Stanford, formerly of Junction City, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 15, 1924, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Coley and Eppie Lowe Reed. He was a retired farmer and a member of Alum Springs First Church of God.

WAYNESBURG - Jane Reeves, 92, of Somerset, died Friday at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 4, 1913, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Leslie Smith Reeves.

LANCASTER - Rose Reynolds, 42, of Lancaster, died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born July 18, 1963, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Patsy Barker Coleman. She was a homemaker and a member of Church on the Rock.

A native of Detroit, MI., she was born Sept. 1, 1954 to Lindy Moore and Georgia Hibdon Moore of Waynesburg. She was a homemaker and member of Olive Baptist Church in Waynesburg.

Marshall Roland Schlappi, 79, of Ottenheim, died Monday, Nov. 21 at the Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

A native of Ottenheim, he was born Oct. 14, 1926 to the late Fred and Emma Hoehn Schlappi. He was a retired lifelong dairy farmer, member of the Lutheran Faith, and recipient of a Purple Heart of the Korean War having served in the Army. ┼

He was a former employee of the Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. and started Bluegrass Mobile Homes in Lincoln County. He served as president of Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Walking Horse Association. He was also a mason and member of Stanford Baptist Church.

Born Oct. 9, 1926, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Hassel and Matilda Bastin Caudill. She was a retired employee of Cowden Manufacturing Co., a member of Pond Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of Arnold Sims.

James Thomas Summers, 66, of 504 East Walnut Street, Danville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at his residence.

Born October 9, 1936 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Maurice James Singleton and Annie Summers. He was the widower of Daisy Gladys Summers. He was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, David A. Summers, Junction City; three daughters, G. Dianne Summers, F. Darlene Sallee and Debbie K. Summers, all of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson.

MORELAND - Lena Hafley Taylor, 90, of Charleston Health Care Center, died Wednesday at her home.

Born June 7, 1915, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late J.W. and Mamie Lee Snow Sharp. She was a homemaker and a member of Ellisburg Baptist Church. She was the widow of Gus Hafley and Earl Taylor.

Survivors include a son, Doug Hafley of Stanford; two stepsons, Joe and Bill Taylor, both of Casey County; four stepdaughters, Sue and Ruth Derringer, both of Indiana, Anna L. Norfleet of Somerset and Wanda Price of Casey County; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; several stepgrandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Jim Taylor.

A native of Casey County, she was born Nov. 26, 1915 to the late Jessie Lee and Carrie Wilcher Coffman. She was retired from American Greetings and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Robert Marvin Turner, 68, of Village Square, Lancaster, died Friday, Jan. 13 at his home.

A native of Garrard Co., he was born Aug. 23, 1937 to the late Collie Patterson Turner and Helen Fletcher Turner. He was a retired mechanic of 40 years having working at Elliott Motors and Turner Service Station, a member of the Lancaster Nazarene Church, and the widower of Betty Brummett Turner.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, TatHarmon, and Dick Turner; and two sisters, Ruby Pharris and Everee Gabbard.

Eugene "Gene" Woodall, 60, of River Drive, Stanford, died Monday Dec. 26 at his home.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born March 4, 1945 to the late Edd & Anna Mullins Woodall. He was a farmer and a member of Gilbert's Creek Baptist Church in Lancaster.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Kilby and two brothers Robert & Ray Woodall.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Carolyn Poynter Woodall of Stanford; one son, Chris Woodall of Stanford; one stepson, Robbie Poynter of Stanford; three sisters, Judy Ingles and Virgina Johnson of Lancaster, and Helen Frazier of Concord, NC.; three grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Thursday Dec. 29 at the American Legion Post #345 East Main Street in Stanford with Rev. Jerry Browning officiating.

Shirley June Floyd Young, 76, of Kings Mill Road, Danville, died Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

A native of Detroit, MI., she was born April 13, 1929 to the late Russell Floyd and Mayme Young Silver. She was a retired juvenile officer for Lincoln/Jessamine and Garrard counties, a foster parent, a member of the Moreland Christian Church, and the widow of Robert Earl Young.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Young of Danville and Russell (Jean) Young of Summerville, SC.; one daughter, Karen (Shelby) Lakes of Stanford; a half sister, Debbie Collins of Junction City; one half brother, Orville Baker of Versailles; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 12 at the Fox Funeral Home with Bro. David Smith officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
