WAYNESBURG - Bobby Adington, 69, of Somerset Road, Stanford, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1935, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Lonnie and Gertie Taylor Adington, and the
husband of Iva Smith Adington. He was a custodian for the Lincoln County school system.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn and Jackie Adington, both of Waynesburg; two daughters, Diane Jeffries of
Stanford and Debra Petrey of Richmond; three brothers, Clinton, Darwin and Leo Adington; three sisters, Margie
Wilham of Cincinnati, Marcelene Stevens of Eubank, and Marlene Haggard of Waynesburg; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home by Don Scilley and Dennis Spencer. Burial
will be at Highland Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Dwight Stevens, Danny Adington, Steven Haggard, Roger Adams, Walter Smith and Marvin Smith.

BLANCHARD, PA. - Lucy Onstott Baim, 91, of Hattiesburg, Miss., died Jan. 25. (2004) Born April 7, 1912, in
Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Nannie Onstott. She graduated from Eastern
Kentucky University and started her teaching career at Moreland High School. She later taught elementary
education in Pennsylvania. Upon retirement, she moved to Florida with her husband, Frank. He was pastor
of Moreland Church of Christ in the late 1930's and preceded her in death in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Crawford of Newark, Del., and Sharon Johnson of Hattiesburg; a son,
Robert Baim of Lynchburg, Va.; a sister, Sue Onstott Crossett of Hattiesburg; and two grandchildren. Interment
will be at Blanchard, Pa., Church of Christ Cemetery.

STANFORD - Services for Emily L. Black, 67, of Knoxville, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home by the
Rev. John Lowery. Burial will be at Danville Memorial Gardens.

Born Sept. 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Morgan and Viola Morgan Young. She was a model and
a homemaker. She wrote poetry and was a volunteer for Casa de Sara. She was responsible for getting over 20,000
pairs of eyeglasses to orphans in South America.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Arnwine of Largo, Fla., and Debra Venable of West Carrollton, Ohio; two sisters,
Berdena Peyton of Germantown, Ohio, and Freda Bastin of Stanford; and one grandchild.

LANCASTER - Services for Martha Joseph Boggs, 64, of Fall Lick Road, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ramsey Funeral
Home by Willie Hendricks and Willie Day. Burial will be in Dix River Cemetery.
She died Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
Born March 25, 1933, in Leslie County, she was a daughter of Rebecca Day Joseph of Lancaster and the late Mitchell
Joseph Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Dix River Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Kermit Boggs Sr.; two daughters, Donna Hopkins and Josephine Hale, both of Lancaster;
three sons, Kermit Boggs Jr., Ricky Boggs and Billy Boggs, all of Lancaster; four brothers, Willie Joseph, John Joseph and
Mitchell Joseph, all of Garrard County and Harold Joseph of Louisville; two sisters, Rhonda Hacker and Ruth Warmoth,
both of Garrard County; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Boggs.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Hopkins, Roger Coffey, John Joseph Jr., Larry Hopkins, Billy Deaton and Jimmy Coffey.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Sherry Lynn Brooks, 57, of Panama City Beach, Fla., who spent summers in South Rockwood,
died Tuesday in Gainesville, Fla.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock. She will lie in state from 10 a.m.
until funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evangel Baptist Church, Taylor. The Rev. Ronald Graef of Evangel Baptist
Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Memorial Gardens, Livonia, MI. (Wayne County, MI)

Born June 29, 1947 in Stanford, Ky., she was the daughter of Andrew and June (Burks) May. She married Robert
Brooks in 1965.

A homemaker, she grew up in Lexington, Ky., and lived in Romulus for 25 years before settling in Panama City Beach.
She spent summers in South Rockwood for the last decade.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and volunteered at the Marina Civic Center in Florida. She enjoyed visiting
Disney World and line dancing and was involved in the Red Hat Society.

Surviving are her husband; her parents, June Miller and Andrew May, both of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Robin
(Doug) Hammar of South Rockwood and Rochelle Brooks of Panama City Beach; a sister, Kathy (Chuck) Stone of
Panama City Beach, and three granddaughters.

CRAB ORCHARD - Geneva Frances King Brown, 66, of Brodhead, died Thursday at Rockcastle County Hospital.

Born Dec. 20, 1938, in Wolfe County, she was the daughter of the late Steven D. and Myrtle Hollon King. She was a
member of New Hope First Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, William E. King; two sons, Charles O. King of Noblesville, Ind., and William E. Brown Jr.
of Corbin; two brothers, Gilbert King of Rogers and Walter S. King of Indianapolis; four sisters, Opal Williams of Winchester,
Lina Camblor of Carmel, Ind., Lula M. Combs of Campton and Carrie M. King of Westfield, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at New Hope First Church of God by Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Mount Zion
Church of Christ Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Jerry Keith Caldwell, 68, of Chrisman Lane, Danville, died Saturday at University of Kentucky
Chandler Medical Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1936, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Julia Jenkins Caldwell of Waynesburg and the late A.K.
Caldwell Sr. He was a livestock dealer and a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Other survivors include his wife, Bonnie Horton Caldwell; a daughter, Linda Williams of Danville; three sons, Mike
Caldwell, Ryan Caldwell and Jeff Caldwell, all of Danville; two brothers, Freeman Caldwell of Waynesburg and Gary
R. Caldwell of Canal Fulton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Danville by the Revs. Brad King and Dale Denton.
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

McKinney - Hattie B. Smith Chapp, 96, of McKinney, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 15, 1907, in Lincoln County, she was daughter of Zora Smith and Maudie Leach Smith. She was the widow
of the late Leo Chapp.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Billie Szydlik of Beaver Creek, Ohio; a sister, Florence Leonard of Michigan; two
great-grandsons; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at McKinney Christian Church by Jim Swafford. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack Canada, Charles Szydlik, Ed Szydlik, Darrell McDonald, David Szydlik and Dale Kirkpatrick.

MORELAND - James "Jimmy" Garnett Chelf, 84, of Moreland, died Saturday at Select Specialty Hospital, Lexington.

Born Feb. 27, 1921, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Roy and Bannie Tarter Chelf. He was a retired farmer and
had worked for Standard Oil and Royal Crown Cola companies.

He was a Marine veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a long-time member and deacon of
Moreland Christian Church. He was the widower of Dorothy Sanders Chelf.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackie Coleman of Lexington; a sister, Martha Quisenbery of Morehead; two grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin sons, Glenn and Sven Chelf.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moreland Christian Church by the Rev. David Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jim Kelley, Dale Smith, Elwood Brown, Paul Rankin, Vaudie Griffin, Veron Griffin, Bobby Gover and Charles

Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Arb and Maud Daffron Cooper. He was a farmer and owner
of Stanford Fruit Market for 30 years. He was a member of Harris Memorial Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth W. Cooper; three sons, Earl Cooper, Donald Lee Cooper and Gary "Buck" Cooper, all
of Stanford; a brother, Estil "Shorty" Cooper of Hustonville; a sister, Elsie Butcher of Stanford; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Nellie B. Lee Cummins, 89, of Crab Orchard, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Nov. 30, 1915, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Judith Naylor Lee. She was the widow
of W.H. "Dub" Cummins and a member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ollie Nantz of Stanford; three brothers, Robert Lee of Lexington, and Herbert and Harold Lee,
both of Dayton, Ohio; five sisters, Frances Hansford of Texas, Jewell Bolt of Oklahoma, Hazel Lake of Corinth, Ruth Watkins
of Lancaster and Lucille Dodd; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Kerry Jones. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Arnold Curtis Jr., 72, of Hilltop Road died Monday, 2 Jul 2001 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

Born Jan. 7, 1929, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Arnold and Mamie Dunnaway Curtis. He was a retired |
employee of Western Kentucky Gas Co., a member of the Christian Church and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Curtis; a daughter, Sandra Lario of Crescent Springs; a son, Jerry W. Curtis of Danville;
three sisters, Irene McCloud of Danville, Mattie Chandler of Dayton, Ohio, and Bernice Hanson of Moreland; two brothers,
Orville Curtis of Moreland and Earl Curtis of Harrodsburg; a grandson; and a step grandson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Albert Gisler and Odis Clark. Burial will be in

STANFORD - Christopher Spurlock Denham, 31, of Kanawha City, W.Va., died Wednesday.

Born Sept. 18, 1973, in Hammond, Ind., he was a son of Charles J. and Shirley J. Denham of Charleston, W.Va. He
attended West Virginia State University and worked for Kroger in Kanawha City for 12 years. He was a member of Kanawha
City Church of Christ.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Kanawha City Church of Christ by Steve Fox and Paul Huyghebaert. Graveside services
will be 1 p.m. Monday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Fox Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. [G.M.]

Born Dec. 16, 1962, in Seymour, Ind., he was a son of Eva Denney Eggersman of Crab Orchard and the late Larry Joe
Eggersman. He was a carpenter.

Other survivors include two daughters, Michelle Wethington of Liberty and Paisley Eggersman of Danville; a half sister,
Sheila Combs of Rockford, Ill.; his girlfriend, Lisa McMannus of Danville; and three grandchildren.

WAYNESBURG - Services for James Eldridge, 75, of Louisville, will be 2 p.m. today at Parlor Grove Baptist Church in
Waynesburg by the Rev. Vola Brown. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Born Oct. 25, 1929, in Harlan County, he was the son of the late Henry and Bertha Sparkman Eldridge. He was a veteran
of the Korean War and worked at International Harvester.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Eldridge; a son, Roy Eldridge of Louisville; two daughters, Elaine Maggard and Jane Draper,
both of Lexington; three brothers, Earl Eldridge of Mount Washington, Tyrone Eldridge of Waynesburg and Lanny Eldridge
of Ohio; three sisters, Nadine Irvin of Hamersville, Ohio, Vivian Greer of Lexington and Ann Loveless of Waynesburg; and
three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Thomas Eldridge. Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home is in

SCIENCE HILL - Hubert Falconberry, 75, of Cincinnati, died Sunday at Wellspring Nursing Home in Cincinnati.

Born March 2, 1930, in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late William E. and Daisy Luttrell Falconberry. He was a retired
employee of Continental Can Co.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Reynolds Falconberry; a son, Roger Falconberry; two daughters, Gail Calhoun and
Joanne Falconberry; four stepdaughters, Mary Marsh, Barbara Guth, Patty Reynolds and Linda Berry; two grandchildren;
six step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home. Burial will be in K.P. Hall Cemetery with military rites

BRODHEAD - Phyllis Rae Feldman, 57, of Old Lancaster Road, Stanford, died Thursday at her home.

Born Oct. 21, 1946, she was the daughter of Katha Rena Sims Schnitzler of Danville and the late William M. Schnitzler. She
was a dairy farmer and a homemaker.

Other survivors include two sons, Justin M. and Harlan I. Feldman, both of Stanford; two brothers, Roger and William "Bill"
Schnitzler, both of Stanford; and a companion, Michael Pavolic of Brodhead.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals by Rick Reynolds. Burial will be in Double
Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg.

CRAB ORCHARD - Ivy Mae Foley Fletcher, 36, of Crab Orchard, died Thursday at her home.

Born Aug. 15, 1968, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of Melvin Foley of Stanford and the late Bertie Woodall Foley. She
was a member of Crab Orchard Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Ray Fletcher; two sons, Gregory L. Foley of Stanford and Matthew T. Foley of Crab Orchard;
two daughters, Brittany N. Foley and Ashley M. Fletcher, both of Crab Orchard; a brother, Billy R. Foley of Crab Orchard; three
sisters, Wanda F. Foley of Danville, Audrey G. and Connie S. Cornett, both of Kings Mountain.

STANFORD - Services for Brenda Sue Frederick , 58, of Tulsa, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Rich
Naylor. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Saturday in Tulsa. Born June 16, 1946, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Dillard C. and Reba Gooch
Frederick.

She was a retired nursing assistant, having worked at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore and Oakwood in Somerset.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Frederick of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three brothers, Garland Frederick and Richard Frederick,
both of Stanford, and Connie Ray Frederick of Waynesburg; six sisters, Barbara Spencer of Georgetown, Berthelia Noe of
Somerset, Yvonne Watkins of Little Rock, Ark., Jane Moore of Stanford, Wanda Flynn of Bryantsville and Claudene Bryant
of Crab Orchard; and a grandson.

LAKESIDE PARK - Mary Dye Gebhart, 68, of Lakeside Park, died June 13 at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a retired teacher and member of Hebron Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, V.L. Gebhart; two sons, Thomas H. Gebhart of San Antonio, Texas; and William E. Gebhart of
Lakeside Park; a sister, Margaret D. Short of Hustonville; a brother, Bill Dye of McKinney; and three grandchildren.
Services were held June 18 at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Erlanger with burial in Highlands Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

STANFORD - Wendall Gilpin, 44, of Stanford, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born March 6, 1961, in Danville, he was son of Cherry A. Rogers of Waynesburg and the late Thomas L. Gilpin. He was a
self-employed tree trimmer.

Survivors include two sons, Shannon Hickerbottom and Wendall Hickerbottom, both of McQueary County; three brothers, Porter,
Patrick and Palmer Rogers, all of Waynesburg; two sisters, April Shearer of Stanford and Tonda Dawson of Oregenia, Ohio; and
two grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Thurman Pearson. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

MORELAND - William Thomas Hair, 81, formerly of Junction City, died Friday at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lexington.

Born May 20, 1923, in Ellisburg, he was the son of the late William and Maude Wilson Hair. He was an Army veteran
of World War II, where he served during the Normandy Invasion. He worked at Corning Class and was a member of Flint
Glass Workers Union. He was a member of Moreland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Turpin Hair of Junction City; three sons, Thomas Hair and William Hair, both of Junction City, and
Kenneth Hair of Lancaster; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by David Fralix. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery with military
rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Greene, Freddie Greene, Bobby Turpin, Bobby Dodd, Allen Doud and Eddie McGowan. Honorary

STANFORD - Gertrude Gooch Hannah, 94, of Beverly Hills, CA,, formerly of Stanford, died Sunday at Marina Care
Center, Culver City, Calif.

Born April 11, 1911, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Frantz H. and Adele Troue Schumann. She
was a retired registered nurse and a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Jim Gooch of Beverly Hills; four grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded
in death by two husbands, James E. Gooch and Harry Hannah; and a daughter, Phyllis Gooch McEwan.

Services will be 10 a.m. Sunday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Todd Gooch. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.

STANFORD - Winona Herrington, 74, of Crab Orchard, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 17, 1931, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Delmar and Victoria Miracle Young. She was a
homemaker and a member of Crab Orchard Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Danny R. Herrington of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Linda L. Herrington of Berea, Paula A.
Elam of Cincinnati, and Juanita F. Herrington of Reading, Ohio; a brother, Ralph "Don" Young of Highland; eight grandchildren;
and 16 great-grandchildren.

for the state highway department. He was a member of the former Ellisburg United Methodist Church, now Westside Community
United Methodist Church.

Dunsil Lakes. He was a former employee of Auburn Automobile Manufacturing Co., American Kitchens, Rex
Manufacturing Co. and Philco, from which he retired after 27 years, and a charter member of Connersville Baptist
Temple. Survivors include his wife, Hazel McKinney Lakes; a son, Carlos H. Lakes of Connersville; three grandchildren;

Distillery in Louisville. She was a member of First Christian Church where she was an Elder Emeritus and Sunday school teacher.

FLEMINGSBURG - Glen Robinson McCormack, 72, of Flemingsburg, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital in
Lexington. Born Feb. 18, 1932, in Hustonville, he was a son of Joseph D. and Louise A. McCormack. He was a
farmer and was named Master Conservationist and Area Outstanding Ag Alumni. He had served as a colonel in the
Army Reserves, with 30 years of service. He was a graduate of University of Kentucky with Bachelor of Science and
Master of Science degrees in agriculture. He was a county president, district director and on the board of directors of
Kentucky Farm Bureau and its federation board. He served on the board of directors for Farmer's Deposit Bank and
on Fleming County Hospital Board for 12 years. He was a member of Flemingsburg Christian Church and served as
a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He also was a Mason and Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann McCormack; three daughters, Patsy A. Ekers, Mary L. McCormack and Luci
K. Riebel; a son, Joe McCormack; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Flemingsburg

STANFORD -- Services for Doyle McGuffey, 75, of Clubside Drive, a local businessman and former teacher, will be

He died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital.

He owned and operated McGuffey Insurance Agency and had been a basketball coach and teacher. He taught and
coached at Hustonville and Junction City schools. He was a graduate of Highland High School and Western Kentucky
University where he also was a member of the baseball team. He also served in the Navy veteran during World War II.

Born July 21, 1925, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Kelly L. and Susie Chestnut McGuffey, and was a
member of Highland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Faulkner McGuffey; three daughters, Jessica Cornelius of Stanford, Kelly Neskovski
of Atlanta, and Becky Cooper of Georgetown; three brothers, Harold McGuffey of Bowling Green, and Roy and Orville

Born March 20, 1939, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late James Eugene Martin and Rosa Belle "Dottie" Durham Martin.

Born in McKinney, Lincoln County, Ky., on December 27, 1910. State Official, University President. University of Kentucky,
M.A., 1940.

As the sixth President of Eastern Kentucky University, he led the school during a period of unprecedented development in his
16-year tenure, beginning in 1960.

The university increased its enrollment five-fold, and added some $110 million in buildings and other facilities. More significant,
however, was the proliferation of major fields of study where program majors were increased nearly ten-fold from the 26
available in 1959. He retired in 1976.

He earned the B.A. degree from Eastern in 1934, the M.A. degree from UK in 1940, and the Ed.D. from Columbia University
Teachers College, in 1951.

He was President of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities in 1971 and also served as Chairman of
its committee on federal programs and as a member of its board of directors. He was a member of the U. S. Department of
Health, Education and Welfare's Advisory Council on Developing Institutions.

He toured Yugoslavia in the spring of 1967 for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. In 1975, he was
part of an AASCU delegation touring Red China. Recipient of a Danforth Foundation grant, he spent 13 weeks of 1971 touring
England and Europe, studying public institutions of higher education.

He served on the executive committee of the Southern Regional Education Board in 1968, and on the board's advisory council
on instructional television. His interest in new teaching media placed him also on the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television.

A member of the Filson Club and a Director of the Kentucky Civil War Round Table, he has served the Kentucky Historical
Society as President and as a member of its executive committee. As President of the Fort Boonesborough State Park Association,
he led that organization in its promotion of the restored fort at Fort Boonesborough State Park.

In 1964, he received the Kentucky Press Association's "Kentuckian of the Year Award." Two years later Governor Edward
Breathitt presented him the governor's Distinguished Service Award for "his contribution to higher education." The Joint Alumni
Council of Kentucky awarded him its first Service Award, and he received the Department of the Army's Outstanding Civilian Service Award for
his support of the Reserve Officers Training Corps program.

His first job in education, following graduation from Eastern in 1934, was as a history teacher at Sardis High School in Mason
County, and he served the next three years as principal of three other schools in the county.

For 41 months, he was a weather observer-forecaster in the U.S. Army, and following his discharge he was an auditor of the
State Department of Education, serving until 1948, when he was named head of its Bureau of Administration and Finance. He
took a year's leave to pursue a doctorate in education at Columbia.

Upon his return to Kentucky, he worked with the committee that drafted the Foundation Program for Education law, was
elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction in 1955, and appointed Commissioner of Finance in 1959.

Recipient of the first "Outstanding Alumnus Award" at Eastern (1956), he was active in a number of organizations, including
Masons, Shriners and Rotary Club. A Phi Delta Kappan, he had served as a member of the Southern Regional Education
Board since 1956. He chaired the United Cerebral Palsy fund campaign in Kentucky in 1964, and in 1978 was State
Organizational Chairman for the re-election of Senator Walter Huddleston, after successfully running for the State Senate
himself the previous year and serving in the 1978 General Assembly. He also has authored a number of articles for various
publications on school administration. Robert Richard Martin was named to the Hall of Distinguished Alumni in February, 1965.

Johnny Pigg Sr., 83, of Hustonville Street, Stanford, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Feb. 28, 1914, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late John and Susie Madison Pigg.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvania Pigg; and two sons, Johnny Pigg Jr. and Thomas Cecil Pigg, both of Stanford.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Brown. Burial will be in Hubble Cemetery.

LANCASTER - Carles B. Price, 89, of Highland Avenue, died Sunday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 15, 1908, in Rockcastle County, he was a son of the late Ben and Dovie Wilson Price.
Survivors include his wife, Jalie Sutton Price; three sons, Bobby Price of Nicholasville, Shirley Price of Lexington and Gerald Price
of Lancaster; two brothers, Gaines Price and Hobert Price, both of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Ina Peel and Jewel Lunsford, both
of Crab Orchard; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

MORELAND -- Cecil Purdom, 84, formerly of Hustonville, died Tuesday at Mayfair Manor in Lexington after a long illness.

Purdom, a retired school administrator, served as principal of Hustonville high and elementary schools and the old Moreland
School during his 37-year career in the Lincoln County schools.

Margaret Short of Hustonville, Purdom's neighbor and fellow educator for 25 years, said of him, "He was one of the most
dedicated educators I ever knew. He believed every child could learn, and if they couldn't, they could do something with
their hands that was just as valuable.

Born April 16, 1916, in Gravel Switch, he was a son of the late Lem T. and Fannie Whitlock Purdom. He also was a retired
farmer and cattle trader. He was a member of the Lions Club and Moreland United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday
school teacher. He was the widower of Ruth Tarkington Purdom.

Survivors include two sons, Barry Purdom of Lexington and Garland Purdom of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; and a
great-grandson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Watts. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

MORELAND - Herman Reeves, 90, of Hustonville, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital. Born June 17, 1914, in Casey County,
he was the son of the late Arthur and Janie Wiser Reeves. He was a carpenter, owner and operator of Hustonville Grill and
co-owner of B&R Drive-in in Hustonville.

He was a member of Hustonville Christian Church and the widower of Naomi Campbell Reeves. Survivors include his daughter,
Barbara Cooper of Stanford; a sister, Lydia Eoff of Eubank; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Burton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

LIBERTY - Grace Reid, 89, of Wolford Street, died Friday at Casey County Hospital.

Born Sept. 7, 1914, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Lena Grider Goode. She was the widow
of Arvil E. Reid.

She was a retired Stanley Home Products dealer and retired from Cricketeer in Harrodsburg. She was a member of Liberty
United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, William J. Reid of Glasgow; two sisters, Oba Davis and Janie Bryant, both of Liberty; five grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda F. Reid; and a son, Carrol R. Reid.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. James M. Lynn. Burial will be in
Hustonville Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Services for Carlton Rice, 49, of Casselberry, Fla., will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pilot Baptist Church. Burial
will be in Pilot Cemetery. He died Monday in Orlando.

Born April 14, 1956, in Orange County, Fla., he was a son of the late Leon and Wilma Baugh Rice. He was an air conditioning
technician for the Orange County Board of Education and a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Ocala, Fla.

Survivors include his wife, Gina Hayes Rice; three sons, Donald and David Rice, and Robert Keil, all of Orlando, Fla.; a
daughter, Loretta Dubben of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, David Rice of Alto Loma, Calif.; a sister, Kay Brantner of Silsbee, Texas;
and five grandchildren. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home.

CRAB ORCHARD - Eric Rice, 39, of Crab Orchard, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 16, 1965, in Frankfort, he was the son of Jack Rice and Dina Dishon Wood, both of Crab Orchard.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Erica Rice of Crab Orchard; and a brother, Steve Rice of Crab Orchard.

MORELAND - Roy Clay "Widder" Russell Jr., 75, of Lexington, died Friday at Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Born Nov. 12, 1929, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Roy Clay Sr. and Rebecca Short Russell.

He owned and operated the Rosemont Ashland Service Station in Lexington. He was a member of New Life Christian
Church in Lexington and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Russell of Lexington; a daughter, Kim Kargel of Lexington; a sister, Gerri Dunn of Lexington;
and two grandchildren.

Born April 20, 1920, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late George and Bessie Sowders. He was a self-employed mechanic,
an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Born July 3, 1958, in Stanford, she was the daughter of Alberta Terry of Stanford and the late Elizabeth Bishop Terry. She was
manager for Motels of America and a member of Grace Fellowship Church.

Survivors include five brothers, David Terry of Mitchellsburg, Gary, Earl and Michael Terry, all of Stanford, and Mark Terry of
Lexington; four sisters, Connie Hall of Lexington, Linda Richards of Knoxville, Tenn., and Cathy Faulkner and Barbara McGirr,

Born Nov. 23, 1920, in Stanford, he was the son of the late John A. "Andy" and Addie Holmes Tucker. He was a 1937 graduate
of Stanford High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He was an independent truck driver for Wenham Transportation
Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, for 25 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth, Ohio. He also was a guitarist.

Survivors include wife, Libby Hoeck Tucker; two daughters, Regina Travis of Hilliard, Ohio, and Linda Whitman of Hilliard; one
son, Sam Tucker of Port Orange, Fla.; one sister, Elenora Simpson of Stanford; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

MIDDLEBURG - Josephine Stanaford Ware, 84, of Liberty, died Thursday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born Jan 14, 1921, in Argyle, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Marcie McAnninch Taylor. She was a former cook
at Garrett Elementary School and attended Watson's Chapel Christian Church and Valley Oak Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by a husband, James Stanaford.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Ware; a son, Dale Stanaford of Goshen, Ohio; a daughter, Patricia Stanaford Coleman of
Yosemite; a brother, Talmadge Taylor of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Born Nov. 24, 1929, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Lula Maupin Durham. She was a homemaker
and a member of Hyattsville Baptist Church and was a member of the Joymakers Club and Women's Missionary Union. She was
a longtime nursery worker.

Survivors include her husband, John White; one son, David White of Lancaster; three daughters, Johnetta Broaddus, Carolyn
Bourne and Becky Gaffney, all of Lancaster; three brothers, Bobby Durham and Herman Durham, both of Lancaster, and Hurl
Durham of Stanford; two sisters, Cynthia Estes and Delia Sherrow, both of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.

having served in the Korean War. He was the widower of Betty Jean Lanigan Young.

Survivors include two sons, Richard K. Young and Roger A. Young, both of Waynesburg; a brother, Marvin Young of Somerset;
