 MORELAND – Mary Ida Alsman, 84, of Junction City, died Wednesday at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 22, 1911, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Matt and Mary Gill Rigsby. She was a homemaker and a member of Junction City Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Edward Alsman of Danville; three daughters, Bertha Raider of Junction City, Dorothy Penman of Danville and Jean Yankey of Mackville; a sister, Ella Heaverin of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Drake. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

BAUGHMAN, Dora                                                                  d. October 23, 1995

  Mrs. Dora Hill ( Dodie) Baughman, 84, of 314 Danville Ave. Stanford, died Monday, October 23, 1995 at her residence. Born January 3, 1911 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Kate Pence Hill. She was a housewife and a member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include; her husband, John S. Baughman, Jr, Stanford; two sons, Ddr. John Baughman III, Harrodsburg, and Harry Hill Baughman, Louisville; one daughter Katherine Bruce Brower, Stanford; two sisters, Virginia H. Cox, Stanford and Mary H. (Tommye) Woodall, Stanford; seven grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Baughman were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, at the Fox Funeral Home in Stanford, officiated by Dr. James C. Baughman. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD - John Samuel Baughman Jr., 89, a prominent businessman, of Danville Avenue, died this morning at home.
Baughman and his family owned the Baughman Building Co. located near the depot in Stanford. He was also a real estate dealer who owned property in Stanford.
``He was an outstanding citizen and contributed as lot to the community for as long as I can remember,'' said Lincoln County Judge-Executive Jim Reed, who counted Baughman and his family among his personal friends.
Reed recalled attending the Stanford Christian Church with Baughman as a youngster, and playing and supporting the athletic programs in Lincoln County with him.
``He will be terribly missed,'' said Reed.
Stanford attorney Cabell D. Francis called Baughman ``a good businessman and a devoted father who raised a nice family and loved his church.''
Stanford City Clerk Sandy Gooch said Baughman was well respected as a ``good businessman,'' adding his brother and he used to own a mill in town. She added she has original feed sacks from that mill. ``He was something,'' she said, noting he had a good sense of humor.
H.R. ``Short'' Saufley III of Builders Supply said Baughman was a lifelong member of Stanford Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder. Saufley added Baughman was also a farmer and past president of the Stanford Rotary Club, with which he was active his entire life.
He was the widower of Dora Katherine ``Dodie'' Hill Baughman.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Fox Funeral Home.  (Assuming he was buried beside his wife, Dora Hill Baughman,  at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.)

STANFORD - Veriland Beedy, 64, Tribune, Kansas, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 7, 1932, in Kansas, he was a son of Faye Lavaughn Beedy of Leoti, Kan., and the late Harmon S. Beedy. He was a farmer and rancher and was a Mason for many years.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Leon E. Beedy of Salina, Kan., Elton Beedy of Kings Mountain and Hugh Beedy of Leoti, Kan.; a half brother, Lyle Duane Beedy of California; and a sister, Lawanna Webb of Wichita, Kan.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kings Mountain Methodist Church by the Rev. Ed Parton. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD - Services for John Bryan Berry, 19, of Doty Lane, Lancaster, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. James Humphrey. Burial
will be in Berry Cemetery.
He died Sunday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center from injuries in an accident.
Born Dec. 4, 1978, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Johnny Berry Jr. and Martha Brock Edwards, both of Stanford. He was a drywall contractor.
Other survivors include his wife, Shannon Crawley Berry; a daughter, Samantha Cheyenne Berry, at home; a stepmother, Sylvia M. Berry of Stanford; four
stepsisters, Theresa Prather of Frankfort, Bobbie J. Roberts of McKinney, Wanda F. Dyer of Stanford and Christina Kidd of Liberty; a stepbrother, Carlos R.
Kidd of Stanford; two brothers, Thomas Durham of Crab Orchard and Chris Brock of Stanford; two sisters, Connier Cordier and Kathy Berry, both of Stanford.

STANFORD - Services for Joe Carroll Bishop, 90, of Ky. 78, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born March 28, 1907, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Noah and Josephine Coffey Bishop. He was a farmer and mechanic and a member of Moreland Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth McCormack Bishop; a son, Robert S. Bishop of Stanford; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Elsie Viola Chadwell Blanton, 81, of Waynesburg, died Thursday at Stanford House Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 9, 1916, in Knox County, she was a daughter of the late Elbert and Ida Smith Chadwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist
Church. She was the widow of John C. Blanton.
Survivors include four sons, John Blanton Jr. of Eubank, Eugene Blanton of Waynesburg, Jimmy Blanton of Nancy and Farrell Blanton of Somerset; four daughters,
Sharon Clausen and Floria R. Messer, both of Waynesburg, Gloria J. Rogers of Danville and Loetta Smith of Parksville; a brother, Charlie Chadwell of Louisville;
27 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Services for R.G. Bratton, 85, Richmond Road, will be 2 p.m. today at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Hershel York. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
He died Saturday at Friendship House.
Born Feb. 15, 1911, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Richard Gentry and Betty Lawrence Bratton. He was a retired farmer and a member of Bethel Christian Church and the Charolais Cattle Association. He was the widower of Stella May Logan Bratton.
Survivors include two sons, R.G. Bratton Jr. and Harlan Dale Bratton, both of Lexington; three daughters, Nancy Bratton of Lexington, Edna May Taulbee of Winchester and Carolyn A. Hobbs of Lancaster; a stepdaughter, Colleen Barnett, Garrard County; two sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Lancaster and Sue Dillon of Brookhaven, Ohio; a brother, Leo Bratton, Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. ock. STANFORD - Services for Matilda Brent, 88, East Maxwell Street, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. She died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital. Born May 7, 1908, in Harlan County, she was a daughter of the late James and Catherine Howard Noe. She was a homemaker and a member of Stanford Baptist Church. She was the widow of Thomas Marshall Brent. Survivors include three sons, Marshall Brent of Somerset, Bill Brent of Coolidge, Ga., and J.T. Brent of Harrison, Ind.; a daughter, Alice Watts, Hopkinsville; a brother, Jay Noe, Calvert City; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Arvin Brent.

WAYNESBURG - Anna Mae Bryant, 78, Eubank, died Sunday at Stanford House Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 3, 1918, in Letcher County, she was a daughter of Henry and Jane Fields Whitaker. She was a retired employee of American Greetings where she worked for 15 years. She was a member of Old Fashion Regular Baptist Church and TOPS, and the widow of Homer Mitchell Bryant.
Survivors include three sons, Homer M. Bryant Jr. of Orange, Texas, Eugene Bryant of Eubank, and Wayne Caudill of Dayton, Ohio; six daughters, Donna Yocum of Kings Mountain, Judy Nothstein of Eubank, Jennifer Bryant of Danville, Billie Blair of Lodi, Ohio, Shirley Ashley of Del Rio, Texas, and Sara Jacobs of Waynesburg; two sisters, Cindy Adams of Pikeville and Roma Brock of Eubank; 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, James Charles Bryant, and two daughters, Brenda and Janie Bryant.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose of Sharon Regular Baptist Church by Larry Newsome and Hargis Tuttell. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Laura P. Baugh Brown, 51, of Foley, Ala., died Wednesday in Cincinnati after a 10-year battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 6, 1945, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sally Katherine Baugh. She was a teacher for 17 years at St. Dominics and Guardian Angels Catholic School. She was a 1964 graduate of Crab Orchard High School and received her masters degree from University of Cincinnati. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Foley.
Survivors include her husband, Stan Brown; a son, Frank ``Butch'' Kneirim of Cincinnati; five brothers, William Baugh of Shelbyville, Edward Baugh of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Craig Baugh of LaGrange, Charles Baugh of Amherst, Ohio, and Raymond Pat Baugh of Broughtontown; a sister, Alice B. Klara of Palm Bay, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be noon Saturday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Mike Weglicki. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Daisy Taylor Brown, 65, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Lincoln County, died Saturday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born April 30, 1933, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Etta Houck Taylor. She was an assembly worker at RCA.
Survivors include her husband, Joe P. Brown; two sons, Donald and Allan Brown of Indianapolis; a daughter, Rhonda Gamblin of Indianapolis; two brothers, Clinton and Dolphus Taylor, both of Waynesburg; three sisters, Delores Waldkoelter of Seymour, Ind., Doris Livengood of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Dixie Deines of Alexandria, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. Harold Carter. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.

McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Thaddeus Eubank. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.
She died Monday at Charleston Health Care Center.
Born July 8, 1919, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late George and Vestie Delaney Rogers. She was a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Haskell Brown of Lancaster; a daughter, Rose Y. Adams of Hustonville; a sister, Maude Jackson of Brodhead; two brothers, Cecil
Rogers of Danville and Everett Rogers of Junction City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jack, Steven and Patrick Adams, Larry and David Johnson and Andy Baker.

WAYNESBURG - Services for Charles Brunson of Bossier City, La., formerly of Lincoln County, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.
He died Wednesday in Bossier City.
Born March 7, 1930, in Jackson, Mich., he was a son of the late Ralph and Inez Harris Brunson. He was a disabled veteran, having served as an Air Force pilot in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Greer Brunson; two sons, Jeff G. Brunson of Richardson, Texas, and Greg R. Brunson of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Debbie Dean of Enfield, Conn., and Lisa Brunson of Plano, Texas; and six grandchildren.

BRYANT, JAMES , Sr.
Mr. James William Bryant, Sr., age 77, of 730 Stoner Street, Harrodsburg, died Saturday January 7, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. at the VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive, Lexington, after an extended illness.
Born August 22, 1917 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late George Herman
Bryant and Lina Elizabeth Coffey Bryant and widower of Ozella Renfro Bryant.
He was a retired construction worker, a World War II army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, James William Bryant, Jr., Harrodsburg; two
brothers, Eligha Bryant, Akron, OH, John Bryant, Louisville; four sisters,
Bessie Fisher and Marie Hunn, Harrodsburg, Georgia Cheanault, Pontiac, MI and
Katie Augustus, Sandusky, OH; two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Bryant were conducted Wednesday, January 11, at 1:30
p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. R. J. Gentry officiating. Burial with
military rites was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fred Bottoms, Alonza Bottoms, John Bryant, David Bryant, George
Fisher and James M. Walker. Honorary bearers were John Thomas Carr, John
Thompson, Benny Yates, Leon Steele Jr., and Benny Payne. Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54
conducted Military Rites for James Bryant at Maple Grove Cemetery on January 11,
1995.
Those attending were: Louis Ransdell, Thomas E. Lane, Sr., Marion Mershon, Tom Denny, Roy Freeman, James Tewmey, Willie Gritton, Cleo Baker and Henry Pulliam. Buglers were Kim Phillips and Blair Long.

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Netha Dishon Burgan, 57, of Berea, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David Calhoun. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.
She died Thursday at the Rockastle County Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Born March 21, 1940 in Crab Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mavey Wells Dishon. She was a manager at Little Caesar's Pizza in Berea and a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Terry Hawkins of Berea; one brother, Ray Dishon of Cincinatti; three sisters, Pauline Kelley of Mt. Vernon, Dina Wood of Crab Orchard and her twin sister, Retha Huffman of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and two great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Burgan; one sister, Laverne Husbands; and two brothers, Omer and Eldon Dishon.

Born March 18, 1925, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of Jack and Katherine Mason Hodge. She was a homemaker and a member of Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil Campbell; three sons, Elwood, David and Gary Campbell, all of McKinney; five daughters, Marie Coffman, Mary Elliott, Dollie Brown, Shirley Campbell and Lona Coleman, all of McKinney; two brothers, Gurney Hodge of Stanford and Kelly Hodge of Hustonville; a sister, Aline Coleman of Stanford; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He died Monday at home.
Born Aug. 8, 1955, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Orville B. and Anna Terrell Carey. He was an employee of Hitachi Automotive, Harrodsburg.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Vanhook Carey; two daughters, Rhonda Braymer of Danville and Stephanie Carey, at home; four brothers, James Carey and Kenneth Carey, both of Moreland, Bobby Carey of Junction City and Alvie Carey of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven sisters, Evelyn Southerland and Bernice Peyton, both of Moreland, Dora Porter, Melvene Pike and Sheila Carey, all of Danville, Linda Maddox and Barbara Howard, both of Junction City; and a grandson.

Services for Cordelia Alcorn Craig, 87, Boneyville, Lincoln County, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Boneyville Baptist Church by the Rev. Willie Stewart. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery.
She died Monday at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C.
Born May 19, 1910, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late James and Mallie Alcorn. She was a member of Boneyville Baptist Church and the widow of Everhart Craig.
Survivors are two daughters, Evelyn Walker, Indianapolis, and Geraldine Jackson, Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Preston Alcorn, Boneyville, Cecil Alcorn, Lancaster, and Raymond Alcorn, Cincinnati; three sisters, Nellie Mason and Dorothy Brown, both of Boneyville, and Janie Woods; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Brown, Leonard Gray Jr., Victor Gray, Julian Sutter, Matthew Perrin and Shelton Perrin.
Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Thomas and Larry McGill Sr.

Mr. Stanley W. Carrier, 77, of 240 Hughley Lane, died Thursday, November 30,
1995 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born March 22, 1918 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Bob and Nellie
Shearer Carrier.
He was a stone mason, a carpenter and had served in the U. S. Army during World
War II.
Survivors include: four sons, James Carrier, Harrodsburg, Larry Carrier,
Lockland, OH, Billy Carrier, Hebron and Stevie Carrier, Milford, OH; four
daughters, Ruth McKinney, Middletown, OH, Peggy Derringer, Harrodsburg, Vickie
Carrier, Aurora, IN and Bonnie Combs, Casey Creek; one brother, Robert Carrier,
Harrodsburg; two sisters Bessie Shannon, Burgin and Gertrude McKinney,
Harrodsburg; 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. One son, Jackie
Carrier, three sisters Brownie Hargis, Pearly Shearer and Lilly Shannon and two
grandchildren preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 3rd at the Alexander and Royalty
Funeral Home with the Rev. Hamp Wooten officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill
Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Carrier, Jr., Larry Carrier, Frankie Rogers,
Duran Lay, Greg Price and Gil Lay. Honorary bearers were Dean Derringer and
Darrell Johnson.

Born Nov. 7, 1925, in Middlesboro, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Victoria Gibson Stevens. She was a homemaker, a member of First Christian Church, Bowling Green, and PEO Sisterhood Chapter D. She served on the state Advisory Council on Libraries, was past president of the Kentucky Dental Auxiliary and was a member of Pierian Club and Chautauqua Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Charles D. Carter; two daughters, Leslie C. Thomas of Louisville and Lynn C. Dowdy of Lexington; a son, Robert T. Carter of Louisville; and seven grandchildren.

MORELAND - James Thomas Crawford, 87, of Stanford, died Thursday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Sept. 3, 1911, in Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Willie J. and Lou Ann Voils Crawford. He was a retired farmer and a member of Stanford First Church of God. He was the widower of Margaret Josephine Rice Crawford.
Survivors include four sons, James R. Crawford of Stanford, Dr. Robert L. Crawford of Memphis, Tenn., Sam Crawford of Madisonville and Danny J. Crawford of Lexington; a daughter, June C. Long of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra G. Crawford.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul Bastin. Burial will be in McCormack's Church Cemetery, Lincoln County.

LIBERTY - A Stanford man drowned while swimming with family and friends at the Fishing Creek Recreation Area in Pulaski County, police said. 
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, Frank Arnold Derringer, 29, was pulled out of the water by Pulaski County EMS and the Pulaski County
Rescue Squad's dive team at about 7:45 p.m. CDT Saturday. No other details were immediately available. 
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife continue to investigate the incident. 
Born Aug. 13, 1968, in Indiana, he was a son of Rodrick and Ruth Derringer of Monrovia, Ind. He was a truck driver. 
Other survivors include his wife, Debra Brown Derringer; a stepson, Mitchell Brown of Stanford; two stepdaughters, Amy Brown of Ohio, and Melissa Moore of

LANCASTER - Sue B. Dillon, 93, of Brookville, Ohio, formerly of Estes Drive, Lancaster, died Sunday in Brookville.
Born Nov. 4, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Richard G. and Betty Lawrence Bratton. She retired as receptionist and clerk for Garrard County Health Department after 27 years, and was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie Starnes of Trotwood, Ohio; two sons, James H. Dillon of Norwood, Ohio, and Willard ``Bill'' Dillon of Kamiah, Idaho; a stepson, Charlie Dillon of Monticello; a brother, Leo F. Bratton of St. Cloud, Fla; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leo F. Dillon.

WAYNESBURG - Bessie McGuffey Downey, 76, of Highway 1247, Waynesburg, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late James and Dora Watts McGuffey. She was a retired waitress at Woolworth's Restaurant in Chattanooga, Tenn., where she lived for 30 years. She was the widow of Thomas W. Downey and belonged to Mount Moriah Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Larry L. McGuffey of Stanford; a daughter, Tammy Reid of Ooltewah, Tenn.; a stepson, William Downey of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Fonzo McGuffey of Highland and Lonzo McGuffey of Stanford; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 20, 1964, in Danville, she was a daughter of Lillie Mimms Atkins Richards of Stanford and the late James F. Atkins. She also was preceded in death by a stepfather, Jesse Richards. She was a computer programmer, a 1982 graduate of Lincoln County High School and a 1989 graduate of Arizona State University.
She was a member of Hollis Chapel Baptist Church in Portland, Tenn.
Other survivors include two daughters, Fallon M. and Amber N. Hale, both of Stanford; two sisters, Darlene Martin of Deerpark, Ohio, and Janice Risner of Stanford; a brother, James T. Atkins of Houston, Texas; two half sisters, Ella Moore of Hustonville and Lula Bray of Franklin, Ohio; and a stepsister, Arlene Ragle of Junction City.

He was a route salesman for Butternut Bread Company for 28 years, a U. S. Army
veteran, and a member of the Men's Bowling Association in Danville and Lincoln
Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Alum Springs First Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Sue Nevius Henry; two daughters, Tabby Young

CHARLESTOWN, Ind. - Herbert Morris James, 86, of Spring Street died Monday at Medical Center of Southern Indiana. Born Oct. 30, 1909, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Cyrus and Hattie Chappel James. He was retired foreman at Paramount Foods, Louisville, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy James; a son, Billy L. James; two daughters, Monteena Morgan and Barbara Barton, both of Charlestown; a brother, Robert James of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Cordia May Siler of Waynesburg; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services were Wednesday at Grayson Funeral Home by the Rev. James G. Cash and Carroll H. Medley. Burial was in Charlestown Cemetery.

He died Wednesday at home.
Born Dec. 9, 1934, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Florence Pennington Dunn of Covington and the late John Jasper. He was a farmer and attended Boneyville Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include a brother, Robert Mullins of Covington. There will be no visitation.

She was preceded in death by five children, Robert, Everett, Jesse, Chester and Letha Kidd.

Theodore R. Kidd, 89, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. A native of Lincoln County, he was a member of Stanford Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hisle Kidd; his parents, Birt and Rebecca James Kidd; two sons, Joe Kidd and James Combs; and a daughter, Loretta Blevins. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Magee of Crab Orchard, Rosie Delaney of Hamilton, Ohio, Jane Wease and Lelia Hornback of Elizabethtown and Judy Finn of Canmer; four sons, Ray Combs of Mount Vernon, Ind., Lewis Combs of Berea, Tommy Kidd of Waynesville, Ohio, and Walter Kidd of Elizabethtown; 43 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Crab Orchard with the Rev. Troy Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. LAIR, Henry     -       Lincoln civic leader, dies                      d. Sept. 25, 1997
STANFORD - Henry Clark Lair, honored as Lincoln County citizen of the year in 1990, died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was 80 and lived at 717 E. Main St.
Lair was a retired mail carrier, a farmer and a former teacher at Danville High School.
When the Stanford-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce named him Outstanding Citizen of the Year, his involvement in church, education and family were cited as his accomplishments. He was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church where he had been an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served on the old Stanford Board of Education. He was on the board of directors of the Lincoln County and Kentucky Farm Bureau. Lair served in the Philippines and Japan with the Army in World War II.
Born Nov. 29, 1916, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late David Colson and Lucy Tate Smith Lair. Lair was a graduate of Stanford High School and Centre College. He was a member of local veterans' groups.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Harrington Lair of Stanford; four sons, Denny, Tim and Shea Lair, all of Stanford, and Pat Lair of Georgetown; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Stanford Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Bob Shaeffer. Burial with military services by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion, will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home and 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Leek died Thursday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. A native of Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Zack and Dora Brock Cheek. She had been a nurse's aide in Garrard and Lincoln counties for 26 years and belonged to St. Sylvester Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Leek.

WAYNESBURG - Anna Sims Murphy, 84, Elkins-Rogers Road, Kings Mountain, passed away Friday at the extended care facility of the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.
Born Nov. 4, 1912, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Henley F. ``Bud'' and Anne Lloyd Sims. A housewife, she was a member of the Kings Mountain United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Vernon Murphy and was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Survivors includes three sons, Clifford Murphy of Kings Mountain, Jeff Murphy of Waynesburg, and Henley Murphy of Crittenden; four daughters, Fern Roberts and Brenda Yocum, both of Kings Mountain, Clara Ann Mitchell of Waynesburg, and Barbara Eldridge of Crittenden. Additional survivors include 36 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Walter Padgett, 70, of 499 Handy Pike, died Wednesday, December 13, 1995 at
the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born March 18, 1925 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Lula
Elizabeth Hall Padgett.
He was a retired self employed construction worker and the owner of Padgett's Chair Caning. He had served in the US Navy during WW II and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Sims Padgett, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Debra Arnold, Boyle County; four brothers, Howard Padgett, Lylery, GA, Lester Padgett, Lloyd Padgett, Jr. and Robert Marshall Padgett, all of Waynesburg; two sisters, Mrs. William Jones, Waynesburg and Mrs. Ellis Hosclaw, Mooresville, IN; one grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at the Alexander
and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial with military rites were held in Spring Hill Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Born Aug. 17, 1906, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late William ``Billy'' and Polly Ann Ratliff Campbell. She was a homemaker, a member of Turnersville Christian Church and the widow of Richard Leslie ``Bud'' Peek.
Survivors are a son, Richard James ``Dickie'' Peek, Junction City; a stepson, John Peek, Kings Mountain; a brother, Sam Campbell, Hustonville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren; 32 step great-grandchildren and eight step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by stepdaughters Lucy Wall, Mary Demrow and Cassie Mae Clayborn.

and Mary Gover Pennington.
He was a former employee of Reynolds Tobacco Company in Lexington and was a
member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Halls Gap.
Survivors include: his wife, Cora L. Jones Pennington, Harrodsburg; a son,
Robert Raymond Jones and a daughter, Darleen Jones, both of Harrodsburg; three
stepsons, Tim, Bently and Joey Jones, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Lindsey
Pennington and William Pennington, both of Stanford; three sisters, Margaret P.
Cooper, Stanford, Alberta Jayne Caldwell, Cincinnati, OH and Ida E. Barbour, CA;

Baptist Church of Stanford. Burial was in Halls Gap.

STANFORD - Nobia Snow Mullins Potts, 86, of Lancaster St., died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Dec. 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late T.J. and Molly Remines Mullins. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church, a Stanford High School graduate and attended Campbellsville College for one year.
She was the widow of Oley Lee Potts.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Potts of Louisville and Donald Potts of Washington, Ill.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Hassell and Della Falconbury Reece. He was a retired union electrician, a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 328, F&AM and was a Shriner. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include three sisters, Christine Young, Elwanda Gourley and Ivodean Caudill, all of Waynesburg.

She died Wednesday at Stanford House Nursing Home.
Born June 8, 1914, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Newland D. and Nannie Taylor Butt. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Methodist Church and Stanford Eastern Star. She was the widow of William Daley Reed.
Survivors include two sons, Shelby N. Reed and William P. Reed, both of Stanford; a daughter, JoAnn Davis of Waynesburg; two sisters, Betty Austin and Violet James, both of Somerset; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Genevieve Reed.
Pallbearers will be Davis, Shelby Reed II, Duane Cox, Doug and Alan May, Dennis, Chad and Kyle Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are Gene Reed, Cecil Witt, Roy McGuffey, Fonzo McGuffey and Danny Ford.

Born Nov. 27, 1930, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Guinn and Melinda Keesee Harshbarger. She was legal secretary for 44 years and the widow of Harris C. Rhodes. She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Rhodes Bell of Stanford; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Stanford, by the Revs. Albert Griffin and David Gambrel. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today and noon Wednesday until time of service at the church.

He had been employed as a boilerman for Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital, a trackman for Pennsylvania Railroad, a nursing assistant at Kentucky State Hospital, and most recently a boilerman for Kentucky School for the Deaf. He was a member of First Church of God.

Born Nov. 29, 1916, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Thomas Alfred Wilson and Flora Alice Denny Wilson. He was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corp. in Lexington and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having attained the rank of Seaman 2nd Class. He was a Baptist. He was the widower of Dorothy Pollard Wilson. He was also predeceased by a son, Ernest Howard Wilson.
He is survived by two brothers, James Edward Wilson of Milford, Ohio, and Joseph Ray Wilson of Goshen, Ohio; three sisters, Vernell Brock of Hot Springs, Ark., Marie Crank of Crab Orchard, and Eva Voelcker of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
Gravesite services will be 1 p.m. today by Harold Crank at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Corinth, off Interstate 75 at exit 144.

He died Thursday at home of complications associated with lung cancer.
Born July 23, 1929, in LaCrosse, Wis., he was a son of the late Vern and Violet LaFawn Wooden. He retired as chief machinist mate from the Navy after 20 years of service. He was also retired from LaMays and Son GMC dealership in Kenosha, Wis. He was commander of Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford, and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Ottenheim.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Esaman Wooden; three daughters, Debbie Schuler, Linda Emerton and Tracy Mullins, all of Waynesburg; a son, Jody J. Born Oct. 26, 1917, in Winchester, he was a son of the late James Ephraim and Clara Redker Woods. He was retired from the security department at Centre College. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of Boyle Post 46, American Legion, and was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include hs wife, Pauline VanHook Woods; a daughter, Judy Ann Burchett of Springfield; two sons, Ralph Wayne Woods of Danville and Gary Woods of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Earl Woods of Crab Orchard and James Woods of Danville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Sister Dortha Grider. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, with military rites.
