Born May 25, 1916, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Matt G. and Nannie Vinson Leeper. She was a retired employee of Kentucky State Hospital, a member of McKinney Baptist Church and the widow of Aubrey W. Alford.

He died Monday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital's extended care unit. Born July 18, 1902, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late David Mason and Lula Holtzclaw Anderson. He was a retired farmer and a member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church. He was the widower of Nannie Mae Gooch Anderson.
Survivors include three daughters, Luanna Anderson Moody of Louisville, Nancy Irene Anderson Bailey of Indianapolis and Doris Evelyn Anderson Spurlin of Preachersville; a son, Edward Wayne Anderson, Harrodsburg; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Anderson.

Born July 2, 1926, in Lincoln County, he was a son of James F. and Mary Adams Atkins. He was a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Atkins; three sons, Bobby Atkins of Waynesburg and James and Donald Atkins, both of Stanford; a daughter, Mary Lee Sowder, Stanford; a half brother, Tommy Atkins, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Ella Moore of Hustonville and Lula Bray of Franklin, Ohio; a half sister, Gladys Martin, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Born June 10, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Emmitt Carpenter and Montie Pauline Tinsley Estes. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was the widow of Cecil Joseph Austin.
Survivors include a son, Phillip Austin of Hustonville, a daughter, Connie Jo Austin of Hustonville, a brother, Lawrence Estes of Hustonville, a sister, Thelma Hazlett of Danville, and two grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church by the Revs. Bobby Estes and Stan Stevenson. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.

Born Nov. 30, 1947, in Beckley, W.V., she was a daughter of Mary A. Hughes Crickmer of Bluefield, Va., and the late Walter Crickmer. She was a former Highland Elementary School teacher and a bookkeeper with Rankin, Baker and Teater law office, and a treasurer and former deacon of Stanford Christian Church. She was chairperson of Lincoln County Junior Miss and a member of the PTA and school council. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Beta Psi chapter.
Survivors are her husband, Robert R. Baker; a son, Jonathan Baker, Stanford; a daughter, Stephanie Baker, Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Walter B. Crickmer III, Abingdon, Va.

Born Sept. 12, 1902, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Henry Clay and Laura Powell Hamilton. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Kentucky School for the Deaf for eight years and in Lynch, Ky., for 13 years. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Garden Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the widow of Andrew M. Bell.

MORELAND - Homer Edward Benedict, 84, of Hustonville died Friday at Harborside Nursing Home in Indianapolis.
Born April 15, 1913, in Lincoln County, he was the son of late Steve Benedict and Bessie Raney Benedict. He was a carpenter, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Ellisburg Baptist Church. He was the widower of Mary Ann Curtsinger Benedict.

He founded the Dish Barn on Stanford Road in 1960. He was a graduate of Danville High School and a member Willow Grove Baptist Church. His wife, Nellie Smith Durham, survives.

Born Sept. 27, 1915, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Sallie McWhorter Gaines. He was former owner and operator of Gaines Furniture in Stanford and a farmer. He was a former member of Stanford and Springfield Lions Clubs and the widower of Thelma Smith Gaines.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally Campbell of Springfield and Mimi Neal Isaac of Lexington; a brother, Benjamin J. Gaines Sr., Stanford; and three grandchildren.

Born March 14, 1906, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ida Farmer Hutchison. She was the former owner and operator of Spears Grocery and a homemaker. She was a member of Neals Creek Methodist Church. She was the wife of Elvin Gilpin of Stanford.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Clyde Spears; a son, Donald Spears; and a daughter, Maxine Spears.
Survivors include three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

HARRIS, James C.
STANFORD - James C. Harris, 82, former Lincoln County sheriff and Stanford mayor, died Friday at his home, 110 Oakwood Drive.
The city's reservoir was named in his honor because the effort to build the 326-million-gallon lake started during his term as mayor. The lake was dedicated in 1990.
Harris was appointed mayor in July 1980 to fill an unexpired term. Then he was elected in 1981 and served until December 1985. When he was appointed, he gave his philosophy about being in public service. ``I always like to lay my cards on the table face-up. Then there's no misunderstanding afterwards,'' he said.
He was Lincoln County sheriff from 1959-62 and 1967-70.
"He did an outstanding job with the city," said current Mayor Jack Withrow, who was on the City Council when Harris was mayor. "He was a really fine man. I really enjoyed working with him."
John Sims, former county judge-executive, was sheriff when Harris was mayor. ``He was one of Lincoln County's better citizens. He was very active in a lot of things,'' Sims said. ``He was a super nice guy.''
Born Feb. 20, 1914, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late James Anderson and Jennie Pepples Harris. He was a farmer and had been active in the Lincoln County Farm Bureau, the Democratic Party and had served on the Lincoln County Fair Board. He was a member of Stanford Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Campbell Harris; a son, James Reuben Harris of Stanford; three daughters, Martha Harris Bastin of Tallahassee, Fla., Jane Harris Saufley of Danville and Linda Harris Best of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

HARRODSBURG - Services for James F. ``Judge'' Martin, 78, of Harrodsburg, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home by Lewis Walter and C.H. Gordon. Burial with military rites will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
He died Monday at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 28, 1920, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Frank and Pearl Leonard Martin. He was a retired mechanic, a member of Pioneer Baptist Church and had served as a deacon and former Sunday School superintendent at Dry Branch Baptist Church. He had served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 10th Mountain Division 87. He also was a volunteer at the Christian Life Center.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy B. Annes Martin; a son, Kenneth Martin of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Thelma McDonald of Harrodsburg and Virginia Jones of Georgetown; a brother, Leonard S. Martin of Henderson; a sister, Ella M. Long of Harrodsburg; a half sister, Elizabeth Wray of Danville; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

MARTIN, William R.
WAYNESBURG - William R. Martin, 69, of Indianapolis, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 9, 1930, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Chester and Dorothy Bastin Martin. He was a shipping and receiving clerk at Stokely Canning Co.
Survivors include five brothers, Chester G. Martin, Steve Martin and Lewis Martin, all of Hustonville, Lanny Martin of Dearfield, Ohio, and Larry Martin of Lancaster; six sisters, Juanita Coffman, Tammy Fox and Donna Smith of Hustonville, Dottie Shelton of Waynesburg, Connie Elam of Lancaster and Vicki Marlow of Danville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Bausum. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

LANCASTER - Services for Mary Emma Merritt, 58, of South Campbell Street, will be 1 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Paulding Street, by the Rev. James
Landrum. Burial will be in Hubble Cemetery, Lincoln County.
She died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born July 4, 1939, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John and Addie Alcorn. She was a former employee of Genesco Shoe Co. where she workded
for 31 years, a member of Clifton Baptist Church, Boyle County, and Deacon's Wives Council at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cabal G. Merritt Jr.; a sister, Marie Bates of Indianapolis; four brothers, George T. Alcorn of Crab Orchard, John Alcorn of
Lexington, James L. Alcorn of Stanford, and Ralph Alcorn of Indianapolis.

MONTGOMERY, Frances
LANCASTER - Frances Montgomery, 77, of Myers Court died Thursday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 4, 1921, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Allie Siler Johnson. She was a homemaker and member of Bryantsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Owen Montgomery and was preceded in death by a son, Harold E. Montgomery.
Survivors include a son, Calvin Montgomery of Wilmore; four sisters, Margaret Hunt of Rising Sun, Ind., Gladys York and Hazel Wilder, both of Crab Orchard, and Fannie Crawford of Stanford; two brothers, Morris and Raymond Johnson, both of Stanford; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Zora Oliver. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

MOORE, Frank
STANFORD - Services for Frank Moore, 74, of Geneva-McKinney Road will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Green River Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Rick Naylor. Burial, with military rites by Caswell-Saufley Post 18 American Legion, will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Wednesday at Columbia Hospital, Lexington.
Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Geneva, he was a son of the late Raymond and Carrier Moore. He was a retired carpenter and woodworker for Stanford Wood Products and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a NRA member.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Sims Moore; two sons, Jerry Moore of Kings Mountain and Terry Moore of Somerset; six brothers, his twin, Charles Moore, Glen Moore and Larry Moore, all of Geneva, Walton Moore of Norwood, Ohio, Freddie Moore of Chase City and Benny Moore of McKinney; a sister, Barbara Jean Moore Smith of Geneva; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Nannie Mae Hall Mullins, 88, of Ottenheim Road, Waynesburg, died Friday at Fort Logan Extended Care Unit.
Born Jan. 26, 1909, in Letcher County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Tilda Johnson Hall. She was a housewife and a Kentucky Colonel. She belonged to Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, William Darrell Mullins of Loveland, Ohio; one daughter, Nancy Carole Mullins of Nicholasville; three sisters, Hazel Cash of Centerville, Ohio, Wilma Saunders of Dayton, Ohio, and Mary Bell Salimbene of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

NEWSOM, Lucille T.
CRAB ORCHARD - Lucille Frances Todd Newsom, 64, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born Feb. 18, 1935, in Crab Orchard, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Ethel Smith Todd. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Heights Church of God in Columbus.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Wade, Karen York and Pamela England, all of Columbus; a brother, Cecil Todd of Texas; three sisters, Lorrine Beisel of Columbus, and Hazel Brown and Effie B. Taylor, both of Crab Orchard; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark West. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

NYE, Mary J.
STANFORD - Mary J. Nye, 73, of Morrison, Ill., died Saturday at her sister's home in Stanford.
Born Feb. 20, 1925, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late Claude D. and Margaret Burdine Bailey. She was the widow of Joseph H. Seelye and Kenneth L. Nye. She was a retired 25 year employee of Central Electric in Morrison, and was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and the Miriam Circle. She was a member of Sterling Chapter 354, Order of the Easter Star, Sterling Elks Club and Gem Club.
Survivors include three sons, Doug Seelye and Ronald Nye, both of Morrison, Ill., and James Nye of Chadwick, Ill.; three sisters, Betty Payne of Lawrenceville, Ga., Iva Mae Layer and Patsy Hubbard, both of Stanford; two brothers, Glenn Bailey of Louisville and James Bailey of Stanford; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Nye.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morrison United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bill Obalil. Burial will be in Dutchtown Cemetery, Millegeville, Ill.

STANFORD - Nora Patrick, 80, of Ridgeway Road, died Thursday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born March 26, 1916, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ledford and Ada Adams Siler. He was a retired employee of Cheney Paper Mill, Franklin, Ohio, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Franklin.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Frazier of Stanford; a stepdaughter, Shelia Armstrong of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; a brother, Willie Lee Siler of Marion, Ohio; two sisters, Jennie Johnson of Germantown, Ohio, and Christine Broadus of West Carrolton, Ohio; and three step grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eaton-Anderson Funeral Home, Franklin, Ohio, by the Rev. James Stern. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Friday also in Franklin.

Born Feb. 14, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Jenny Blankenship Lunsford. She was a homemaker and a member of
Stanford Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Stanford High School and the widow of James Peek.

PENMAN, Richard F.
Richard Frye Penman, 88, Lancaster Street, Stanford, died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital after a short illness.
Born April 17, 1909, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Harriett Penman. He was a farmer and a member of the Stanford Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Penman; one daughter, Asatha Penman of Stanford; one son, Richard Penman Jr. of Stanford; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at The First Missionary Baptist Church, Stanford, by the Rev. Floyd Raglin. Burial will be the Hubble Cemetery, Lincoln County.

PENNINGTON, Ophelia
Ophelia Pennington, 95, formerly of Stanford, died Monday at Meadowbrook Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 3, 1902, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late James and Amelia King and the widow of James C. Pennington. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Crab Orchard.
Survivors include two sons, James Pennington of Akron, Ohio, and Charles Pennington of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Edna Gibbons of Lexington; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Thomas, Paul and Robert Pennington; and a daughter, Ethel Pennington.
Services will be noon Friday at First Baptist Church, Crab Orchard, by the Rev. James Bartleston and D.J. Ward. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

RICE, William E.
STANFORD - William Eddie Rice, 68, of 2210 Ky. 198, Stanford, died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William O. and Anna Hale Rice. He was retired from Corning Glass Works, where he worked for 30 years. He was a deacon at McKinney Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran and a member of McKinney Masonic Lodge #631.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Charles Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Henderson Rice; three sons, Joey and Rodney Rice, both of Stanford, and Scott Rice of Danville; two daughters, Gladys Reed of McKinney and Kristy Green of Danville; two sisters, Louise Maybrier of Halls Gap, and Ruth Ballard of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Born December 7, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Colonel and Hattie Ryan Kidd. She was a homemaker and the widow of Roy Lee Rogers.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Johnson of Waynesburg; a son, Paul Rogers of McKinney; a brother, Christy Kidd; 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

STANFORD - George P. Ross, 89, of Greasy Ridge Road, died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 15, 1909, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late James and Rosie Flemings Ross. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church where he was a former deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He was the widower of Lenora Bastin Ross.
Survivors include a son, Donald G. Ross of Brookville, Ohio; a daughter, Deloris Tarkington of Danville; a brother, Bill Ross of Piqua, Ohio; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Charles V. Saylor, 62, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Wednesday at his home.
Born Oct. 29, 1936, in Crab Orchard, he was a son of the late Hezzie and Roxie Hoskins Saylor. He was an Army veteran and retired from Western Bowling Alley, Cincinnati. He had attended Watts Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, June Hawkins of Cincinnati.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. at Saylor Cemetery, Crab Orchard, by the Rev. Dan Gutenson.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Saturday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home.

Born April 22, 1917, in Kings Mountain, he was a son of the late Walter and Mae Leach Sims. He was a retired truck driver and Indiana Highway Department employee. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Born July 3, 1942, he was a son of the late Robert and Ella Noggle Smith. He was a self-employed mechanic and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Payton of Hustonville; three sons, Jeffrey Lynn and Greg Scott Smith, both of Stanford, and Michael Scott Craig of Liberty; four sisters, Marlene Skinner, Yevon Conkin and Angela Smith, all of Indianapolis, and Eva Martin of Stanford; two brothers, Ronald and Michael Smith, both of Indianapolis; and five grandchildren.

SWOPE, George A.
STANFORD - George Alfred Swope, 73, of U.S. 150 West, died Sunday at Stanford House Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 1, 1923, in Stanford, he was a son of the late Thomas A. and Anna Ollish Swope. He was a retired owner of Swope Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and a member and deacon of Calvary Hill Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Stanford High School, attended Centre College and was a graduate of Cincinnati Technology Center for Refrigeration. He was a member of Wilderness Road Amateur Radio Association and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Charline Whitaker Swope of Stanford; a daughter, Myra Virginia Swope Munday of Stanford; a brother, Samuel Brown Swope of Dayton; and a grandson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Hill Baptist Church by the Revs. Tim Boschen, John Carter and Eddie Miller. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

TEAGUE, Minor
STANFORD - Minor Teague, 87, of Redwood Drive, died Sunday at home.
Born Aug. 25, 1910, in Cook County, Tenn., he was a son of the late Dant and Elizabeth Hyslope Teague. He was a former director and secretary of Lincoln County Federal Savings and Loan Association and Lincoln County Farm Bureau Treasurer for many years. He taught in the Lincoln County School system for many years and was a member of McKinney Masonic Lodge 328 and Stanford Baptist Church where he was former treasurer.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna B. Teague; a son, Joe Teague of Frankfort; and a grandson.

TEWMEY, Laura M.
HARRODSBURG - Laura Mae Goodpaster Tewmey, 91, East Factory Street, died today at Charleston Health Care Center, Danville.
Born July 31, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Elzie Thomas and Erma Bruce Young Goodpaster. She was a homemaker, member of Harrodsburg Christian Church and Mercer County Senior Citizens, and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was the widow of James Garnett Tewmey.
Survivors are a son, James Lloyd Tewmey, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Irma Katherine Case, North Miami, Fla., Bessie Rhea Taliaferrom Homosassa, Fla., and Daisy Frances Freeman, Cedar Key, Fla.; a brother, E.T. Goodpaster, Waynesburg; three sisters, Elizabeth Williams, Lexington, and Beatrice Reistenberg and Nora Barker, both of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Cora Foley Garland Thomas, 97, of Lexington, formerly of Stanford, died Monday at Christian Healthcare Center, Lexington.
Born January 8, 1901, in Casey County, she was a daughter of James and Vinnie Martin Foley. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastland Church of God. She was the widow of Walter Garland and James Thomas.
Survivors include two daughters, Dartha Woodard and Elsie O'Neill, both of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rosa Riley and Mary Ingram.

Born Nov. 1, 1940, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John Lee and Maxine Spencer Banks. She was a employee of Wal-Mart, Danville, and a member of Fairview baptist Church.

WAYNESBURG - Hallie Beckam Vaughan, 93, of Lexington, formerly of Waynesburg, died Friday at Darby Square Nursing Home.
Born June 20, 1904, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert Taulbert and Lucy Reynolds. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was the widow of Glenn Vaughn.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Leon Vaughan of Mount Sterling and one daughter, Betty Campbell of Lexington.
Private services were conducted today by the Rev. Vola Brown at Fox Funeral Home with burial in Double Springs Cemetery.
There was no visitation.

He died Tuesday at Baptist East Hospital there.
Born August 5, 1960, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ervin D. and Marcella Dunaway Wall of Kings Mountain. He was an advertising and promotions assistant for Varsity Spirit Corporation, Memphis, Tenn., and a former teacher at Lincoln County High School and in Paris, Tenn. He was a member of University Church of Christ, Murray, and a graduate of Lincoln County High School and Murray State University.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Bertha Daugherty of Danville and Janet Perry of Walltown.

WAYNESBURG - Services for Eugene Walls, 70, of Ky. 1247, Waynesburg, were 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. George Brown. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Wednesday at Baptist Hospital in Corbin.

WALLS, Luna W.
STANFORD - Luna Williams Walls, 75, of 8390 Green River Road, Hustonville, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1922, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Arid and Ada Salyers Williams. She was the widow of Herman Walls. She was a former employee of Stanford House Nursing Home, a homemaker and a member of Geneva Community Church.
Survivors include her stepmother, Bessie Williams of Angel Ridge; two sons, Gerald Wayne Walls and Ronald Keith Walls, both of McKinney; three daughters, Thelma Jean Frederick and Bonnie Rose Yocum, both of Stanford, and Vickie Dian Falconberry of Danville; a sister, Morine Willis of Batavia, Ohio; a stepsister, Bertha Vanhook of Angel Ridge; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Rick Naylor and Gary Story. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

WALLS, Nellie S.
STANFORD - Nellie Hogue Sims Walls, 84, of Hustonville died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1911, in Lincoln County , she was a daughter of the late Luther Martin and Nannie Gooch Hogue. She was a retired housekeeper with Fort Logan Hospital and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church. She was the widow of Oscar Sims and John Raymond Walls.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph W. Walls of Hustonville, Larry Dean Walls of Kings Mountain and James V. Sims of Stanford; a daughter, Brenda Sue Walls of Hustonville; four sisters, Della Terry and Mayme Peek, both of Kings Mountain, Ruby Roberts of Stanford and Tressie Shimmell of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

WARNER, Maybelle
STANFORD - Maybelle Warner, 74, of Ky. 1247, Waynesburg, died Wednesday at her residence.
Born April 27, 1924, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late George Varney and Lyda Garwood Wolfe. She was a bookkeeper.
Survivors include four sons, Mark Warner of Lexington, Mike Warner of Louisville, Kenneth Warner of Virginia Beach, Va., and Anthony Warner of Shepherdsville; one brother, Chester Wolfe of Waynesburg; one sister, Frances Dawson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary King. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

WILSON, Rachel
WAYNESBURG - Services for Rachel Wilson, 87, Kings Mountain, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. Wes Rankin. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery. She died Monday at St. Elizabeth North Hospital, Covington. Born Sept. 20, 1909, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Henry H. and Susan Ann Singleton Caldwell. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and the widow of James Everett "Jim" Wilson. Survivors include a son, James Lewis Wilson, Somerset; four daughters, Annie Laurie Thompson of Hebron, Donna Jean French of Ludlow, Nancy Mullins of Villa Hills and Martha Sue Hogue of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

WOODS, Earl H.
CRAB ORCHARD - Earl Henry Woods, 82, Stanford, died Sunday at Fort Logan Extended Care.
Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Marshfield, Wisc., he was a son of the late Ephraim and Clara Woods. He was the widower of Josephine Plummer Woods. He retired from Caldwell Stone in Danville and worked for several years at T.Y. Shaw & Son Scrap Metal. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherril Disney of Stanford and Sharon Woods of Crab Orchard; one sister, Anna Bowden of Muncie, Ind.; one brother, James Woods of Danville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Revs. Steven Smith and Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.

WOODS, Jessie N.
WAYNESBURG - Jessie Norlena Woods, 66, of 122 Sharon Lane, Waynesburg, died Thursday in Waynesburg.
Born Jan. 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Ruth Moore Elliott. A graduate of Campbellsville College, she was a dietitian at Kentucky School for the Deaf and a member of New Life Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include two sons, John Elliott Woods of Waynesburg and Robert Shannon May of Indian Lake Estates, Fla.; a sister, Joan Hamilton of Waynesburg; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at New Life Church of God of Prophecy with Jack Carter officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

YOUNG, Preston Jr.
STANFORD - Preston O'Bannon Young Jr., 70, of Louisville, died Sunday at his home.
Born April 5, 1928, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Florence Dunaway and Preston O. Young Sr. He was a retired teacher and athletic director having coached at Stanford High, Shepherdsville High and was coach and athletic director of Western High School. He also was a Korean War veteran and a member of Highview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hawkins Young; three daughters, Susan Muench of Florence, S.C., Janet Trombley of Greenville, S.C., and Teresa Ohlmann of Louisville; a brother, Coleman L. Young of Spartanburg, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by Kenneth Holden. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell-Saufley Post 18, American Legion.
